  3. Akron mayor releases details on Thursday LeBron James celebration. The City of Akron and the LeBron James Family Foundation will host a celebration for Akron's own LeBron James Thursday at Lock 3. Gates will open at 7 p.m. James and his students from Wheels for Education and IPromise Network will be featured. Admission to the event and parking downtown will be free The city plans to rent giant screens, bring in water, and pay for security for the event, which Mayor Dan Horrigan states will could cost at least $50,000. However, multiple companies in Akron have donated money to offset that cost. Horrigan estimates 7,000 people can fit in Lock 3 and 3,000 can fit outside the fence.
  4. Woodson was named preseason fourth-team all mac for fans that like that sort of thing. I prefer that he quarterbacked the Zips to a bowl victory. I'm hoping for another one this year.
  5. I was at the US Open in Oakmont yesterday. One of the marshals walks over to me and points at my shirt "did you go to Akron...I taught biology there for 35 years"
  6. "The MAC has moved ahead of C-USA in virtually every aspect. By sticking with ESPN, instead of alienating the network as C-USA did in 2011, MAC schools receive $830,000 a piece in annual television revenue. That is $630,000 more than Marshall will get in 2016-17. What happened? Poor expansion by C-USA happened." It's too bad, Marshall was good for the MAC, and the MAC was good for Marshall.
  7. All you would want to know @mike_hughes21.
  8. MAC ANNOUNCES UPDATED 2016 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE 2016 schedule features 17 November nationally televised games on ESPN2, ESPNU and CBS Sports Network
  9. If your a fan of Bill, he started a new site. It's called The Ringer. Started June 1. He interviews Maverick Carter about LeBron here.
  10. Entire post is a good read, thanks. If you follow MTB on twitter, you will realize the above just has to be true. I'm excited to see what he does this year.
  11. Should be working now.
  12. If I were representing LBJ, he would invest very little capital into the project, have the arena named after him...and more.
  13. http://www.chargers.com/video/2016/05/19/1-1-jatavis-brown
  14. Personally, I think this would be the wrong way to approach him. It has to be creative, and benefit both parties. The solution exists.
  15. I refuse to believe it can not be done to benefit both parties? LeBron is making a legacy off the court in his home town. There has to be some interest. I would guess a poster or two will respond by saying it's not possible, that it has already been explored. But has it been presented the proper way by the proper people? President Scarborough and LeBron already have an existing venture with the scholarship program, seems like an expansion of that could be explored.
  16. When you see NFL players doing it....
  17. Nice article. Seems like I read something like this on ZN before .... "...In that same dime package as well as when the Chargers go nickel, Brown can develop into a Deone Buccannon hybrid linebacker-safety who will supplant Jahleel Addae when San Diego goes into those formations. In college, much of Brown’s best work came from lining up in the slot as a normal slot corner and then turning the jets on and busting through the offensive line to create pocket pressure. Teams can’t gameplan for a player who can pop in and out of coverage and blitz packages, and Pagano’s going to put Brown in positions consistently that will allow him to make the largest impact that his immense athletic ability can provide. Brown is a wild card. He could fill out and stick at an inside linebacker spot where his speed would benefit him in covering the field sideline to sideline, but San Diego has plenty of young talent at the ILB spot already. Brown’s best long-term fit for both his career and the team is to transition to the role of strong safety. Brown can slide into that SS role across from Dwight Lowery and the veteran FS is savvy enough to hold his own and allow the Chargers to turn Brown loose...."
  18. Sheriff Woody is a top QB on the rise for this year. Thomas Woodson, Akron Woodson is developing as a passer, but he accumulated 2,793 total yards and 20 overall scores last season. I see a few QBs on the list that the Zips D will be facing. Should be a fun year!
  19. Bills awarded claim for RB Dri Archer on Tuesday.
  20. Add another hybrid to the growing list. I think JB hit the NFL at the correct time. I'm excited to see if SD can use his skills creatively.
  21. The Jets on Monday announced that they cut Dri Archer, a wide receiver/running back/return specialist.
