In regards to the National Anthem being played before the players come out, this is fairly common practice for tv games. The reason behind this is that when the 7pm broadcast kicks off, the announcers don't want the national anthem to be playing in the background as they are talking about the game.
I'm well aware of IMG being in charge of promotions. Brad came up with a list of promotions that he wanted to do (bobble heads, ring, etc) and told IMG exactly what we wanted and for them to go out and sell it.
I've been to every home game minus one this year and I can't remember a single game day promotion. I still have the bobbleheads, championship ring, and my black Akron shirt from when Brad was hitting on all cylinders. The problem is not even about us having money. Each of those promotions were sponsored by a local company who paid for the giveaways. Toldeo got creative (well, copied the Atlanta Hawks) and are hosting a Tinder Night. They got some national news for being the first college to host such an event.
"The race for the Mid-American Conference East Division title will go down to the wire, with UA, Can't State, Toledo and Bowling Green all going for the lead when the night began." I forgot Toledo was in the East.
You forgot to add the picture of the tacky number on the side. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B89jUSkIAAAaQc1.jpg It should also be noted these are only ideas and not a for sure thing.
The BG fans in front of us kept laughing about how Akron kept getting hosed on several calls. Seems that sitting in a predominately Akron section had an effect on them.
Considering we are talking about attendance, I think picking on OU having a down year is a bad example. They still got 9k to their last game. Can't elite 8 was 13 years ago. If they had put the investment in immediately after the run, I think they would be a completely different team now. They corrected that with their baseball run.
Back when Porter was here and he was trying to decide who the starting goalie would be, he invited about 15 Rowdies to practice to heckle them both. Some guy named David Meves handled the heckling a lot better than his counterpart and the rest is history.
Wow UAB has to pay $2.425 million for cancelling games against Tennessee, Kentucky, Troy, Georgia State, and South Alabama. UAB must pay $2.425M to cancel future games vs. Tennessee, Kentucky, Troy, Georgia State, South Alabama
