  1. I believe FedEx just donated $1.5 million to Kent for their aviation school.
  2. As someone who graduated with the last 5 years, I'all give my perspective why my fellow recent alumni are absent from games. 1) A big majority of the students never attended an athletic event when they were students, so why start when they have to start paying to attend a game? 2) Many friends from the AK Rowdies now live out of state (myself included). So out of the few diehard students who put up with the Ianello years, many of them can't make the games now, even though I know most of them still actively follow the Zips. 3) Recent grads have to start paying back student loans and it makes them sour towards the Akron brand. I've heard many people say "I'm never giving Akron a dime, I already owe them too much". I was in DC this weekend for the Browns game and ran into many Browns fans that made the trip during the weekend. Many of them were Akron or Kent alumni (sadly my wife went to that other school). On Saturday anytime we talked to one of them they were completely clueless that the Wagon Wheel game was going on. It's hard to compete to get people's attention when they are willing to travel 6 hours to see a probable winless team and not even know there is good football at their alma mater.
  3. It's hilarious looking at the part of this thread that took place during the 1st quarter. Great to set scoring records at Marshal. Has Akron ever put up 65 points against a FBS team?
  4. Which ironically was Chryst's senior year.
  5. For the life of me, I can't figure out why you would want to play a D3 team 7 games into the season. First game? Sure, I guess if you want one more tune up, but 7 games in??
  6. Maybe they'll post an ad in their school paper looking for another QB.
  7. If any Ap fans are looking for a reason to Come to Northeast Ohio...
  8. AppinSC- I live over in Wilmington and might make it to an Ap St game this year with some friends who are alumni. Any place I should be sure to hit up?
  9. I believe Miami was short a game which gave Ap St leverage to get a home and home. Back to back years they will have ACC schools visiting (Wake next year).
  10. If the MAC expands, I believe that allows ESPN to reopen our contract negotiation. We could expand and get less money from them.
  11. I think Cincy will definitely be invited to the Big 12. Executives for Macys and Krogers have been lobbying hard for them for months. After that I would expect either Memphis, BYU or Bosie to be added.
  12. Said the OU fan creeping the Akron board in June.
  13. Nice to hear we can get a rematch vs the Zags and Creighton is still on the schedule. Will the Zips stay out west during that week and pick up another game? Hope so, lots of traveling and time zone change if not.
  14. For those of us that haven't followed the entire ridiculousness of this thread, have we decided if the Zips are poisonous or not and who these potential "quality teams" are?
  15. As someone who lives in NC, it's funny people are saying ECU football is nothing to write home about. They average 45k in attendance and usually have a winning record, winning 10 games a couple years ago. Their midweek games are even sellouts. That's a lot more than I can say about our program.
  16. Nice to see him finally take a head coaching gig. He has a great foundation at Stony Brook to build off of.
  17. Vegas 16 has a lot higher quality teams than the CIT or CBI. I think they will do fine next year if they have it again.
  18. There's only 8 teams in the Vegas 16. They couldn't get enough teams to sign on.
  19. When KD compared Big Dog to Shaq, I didn't realize he was talking about free throw shooting. 10 missed free throws. Reggie had 12 missed 3's. If either of them shot a semi normal percentage we win in regulation.
  20. They would probably have it in St. John arena. They did that for a game last time they were in the NIT.
  21. This brings an interesting question to mind. Who was the last team from a power conference to come to the JAR, and what year? I've been following the Zips since 2007 and I don't remember one during that time period.
  22. I'd like to see us in the 2k Class which currently has Marquette, Michigan, Pittsburgh, and SMU. If we can't make this, I would like the Cancun Challenge which currently has Purdue, Texas Tech, Auburn, and Utah State. http://www.bloggingthebracket.com/2015/11/30/9810744/2016-17-college-basketball-early-season-tournaments-events-MTE-neutral-site
  23. If Big Dog wants to be one of the top centers next year like Dambrot said he can be, then he needs to show up and dominate on both sides of the ball.
  24. I hope this serves as a wake up call to Coach Dambrot to start actually scheduling better teams OOC. Yes, I know we had a great RPI, but we had no top 50 wins and only 1 top 50 team on the schedule. Clearly top 50 wins trump RPI. Fix it.
