Rydell Brooks never played for Akron and Andrew moss was a walk on. But if you want to keep this up we can talk about Jay Kinney, Armon Bassett, etc. All I'm saying is neither team can talk.
-
I think the reason Zeke has struggled vs OU in the past is that as soon as he touches the ball there were 2 and sometimes 3 players that swarmed him and gotten easy turnovers. If the Bobcats continue to do this we need to make adjustments, unlike previous years.
-
Rescheduled for Feb 20th. 4 days after home game vs Can't and 7 days before Akron.
-
BG's problem- they don't want to play good teams. Akron's problem- we don't get to play enough good teams.
-
Well its Bracketbuster time since they announce the pairings tomorrow. I'm basing my guess off of the RPI and not the BPI since that is what they have historically done. Home Teams: Wichita State (16) (Already played Creighton) Belmont (20) (Already played South Dakota State, EKU) Indiana State (55 ) (Already played Creighton) St. Mary's (59) Akron (72) (Creighton, Detriot) Valparaiso (89) Murray State (93) UIC (99) Road Teams: Creighton (31) North Dakota State (64) South Dakota State (65) Eastern Kentucky (76) Stephen F. Austin (81) Detriot (89) Ohio (98) My predictions: Wichita State- North Dakota State Belmont- Creighton Indiana State-Eastern Kentucky St. Mary's- South Dakota State Akron-Stephen F. Austin I think Ohio gets Valparaiso

Pat played 80 minutes at WVU. But, he did have time to grow in the weight room, etc. Does anyone know how long he was injured while at WVU?
-
If we are going to compare their high school stats lets compare their freshman stats since that is against college competition. Zeke is on top and Pat is on the bottom with stats through the Toledo game. MIN 16.8 FG% .471 FT% .466 REB 3.9 AST .5 BLK 1.7 PF 2.1 TO 1.5 PTS 5.1 MIN 13.7 FG% .493 FT% .559 REB 3.4 AST .4 BLK 1.1 PF 1.7 TO 1.2 PTS 4.7

Per live-rpi.com Can't dropped 67 spots down to #182 after losing to BG who is now #284.

A few thoughts: 1. It's been said on here already, but WOW Zeke. I think we were all rooting for a triple double but it just didn't happen since Tree took all the rebounds. KD told the team in the locker room after the game that he played like a 1st round pick and I would definitely agree. 2. If Tree keeps up his play, no one in the MAC can stop him. 3. Abreu almost got a double double as well falling 1 ast short at 11pts 9asts. 4. Chauncey doesn't always get respect on here, but he scored 12 pts in 13 minutes of play. 5. Kretzer is really struggling on O but he makes up for it on D. 6. I would like to see more McAdams and less Carmelo/Deji 7. Outside of Tree and Zeke, I think the team's next best re-bounder is Walsh. He always seems to be in the right place for loose rebounds and great hustle plays. 8. In the first half Toledo made 10 buckets and Zeke blocked 7 shots. Mind blowing.

Can the Zips finish the MAC un..uhh...unde...???
tpsjugglerdude replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I hate to say it, but I don's see it happening. I think Akron and OU split their series. Akron has played horrid in Athens the last few years. -
This is the biggest chance for a road loss outside of the trip to Athens coming up. It's interesting that Toledo is getting Ohio State transfer JD Wetherspoon next year who Akron heavily recruited. Prediction for the game: Kretzer breaks out of his slump and comes up big on the way to a 72-63 win.

It's always great to come out of Can't with a win. Lots of complaining about the refs from both sides, but overall I think they evened themselves out. I think part of the awful foul shooting had to be attributed to the stupid balloons they passed out to their student section. If John Groce were here he would be stomping his feet and crying about them to the ref. Congrats to Zeke on becoming the all-time leader in blocks. That take down on the last play of the game look like it hurt pretty bad, I hope he is ok. Everyone keeps saying the Detroit loss was a bad loss. I disagree, yes it would have been nice to have beaten them, but they are a top 100 team in the RPI. They are sitting at 12-7 and should easily get to 20 wins in the Horizon league. It's not like this is a team in the 200s of the RPI (like Coastal).
-
I think it is pretty bush league that Can't is not going to update player points during the game on their scoreboard. I think its a lame excuse to cover up the fact their awful scoreboard is broke.
-
Princeton sits 2-0 in the MAC right now. I watched them play Can't and I don't remember seeing a better passing team. They seem to always find the backdoor on almost every play. Can't tried to press them and everytime is let to 1 or 2 open Princeton players standing under the basket for an easy bucket. They have some great shooters. Will be a tough game for the Zips.
-
You will probably get your wish. Neither of those teams are away teams. In fact, the A-10 is not in it at all. We don't have to worry about a tough matchup next year either since this is the final year for Bracketbusters.

Noon.

Per a quick look on Gozips.com it says Akron has never beaten a top 25 team in the D1 era.
-
I think the marketing department should set up a table inside the Union to give away "free" tickets to the game with a zip card. Yes, I know its already free but many students I talk to still don't understand that concept. With the ticket they can actually walk through the main gates (solves some griping here), and if they don't come, I'm sure it can still count towards attendance as tickets sold or whatever that loophole is.

The RPI Is Not Dying Fast Enough
tpsjugglerdude replied to Dave in Green's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
In the mean time you might as well play the game. Great article on how Pitt rigs their rpi. http://m.si.com/79200/playing-the-system/ -
And now Middle Tennessee State joins CUSA.

What are the chances the MAC adds another team to even up the East and the West? If they did would they be football only? If not, that would make the basketball divisions uneven. I don't think we will be able to pull UMASS out of the A-10 for basketball.

Thank you to Coach Porter

I still don't remember any of the ACC schools coming to Akron...chickens. -
I could be wrong, but I think only the semi finals and finals are at MSG for the NIT. Charleston Classic would be the most doable for me and good teams listed, but I don't think it gives us a chance for a top 25 win. Battle for Atlantis would be pretty but not sure if I would be able to make the trip. I like the team selection in Anaheim as well.
