  1. You will probably get your wish. Neither of those teams are away teams. In fact, the A-10 is not in it at all. We don't have to worry about a tough matchup next year either since this is the final year for Bracketbusters.
  2. Per a quick look on Gozips.com it says Akron has never beaten a top 25 team in the D1 era.
  3. I think the marketing department should set up a table inside the Union to give away "free" tickets to the game with a zip card. Yes, I know its already free but many students I talk to still don't understand that concept. With the ticket they can actually walk through the main gates (solves some griping here), and if they don't come, I'm sure it can still count towards attendance as tickets sold or whatever that loophole is.
  4. In the mean time you might as well play the game. Great article on how Pitt rigs their rpi. http://m.si.com/79200/playing-the-system/
  5. And now Middle Tennessee State joins CUSA.
  6. What are the chances the MAC adds another team to even up the East and the West? If they did would they be football only? If not, that would make the basketball divisions uneven. I don't think we will be able to pull UMASS out of the A-10 for basketball.
  7. I still don't remember any of the ACC schools coming to Akron...chickens.
  8. I could be wrong, but I think only the semi finals and finals are at MSG for the NIT. Charleston Classic would be the most doable for me and good teams listed, but I don't think it gives us a chance for a top 25 win. Battle for Atlantis would be pretty but not sure if I would be able to make the trip. I like the team selection in Anaheim as well.
  9. Back on the original topic... We can rule out the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, 2K Sports Classic Hall of Fame Tip-Off all 8 teams announced: UNC, Louisville, Fairfield, Hartford, Richmond, Holy Cross, Hofstra, and Belmont Maui Invitationa- all teams announced: Arkansas, Baylor, Gonzaga, California, Dayton, Minnesota, Syracuse, Chaminade Old Spice Classic- 8 of 8 teams announced: Butler, LSU, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Saint Joseph’s, Siena and Washington State These are the best options. Charleston Classic has 6 of 8 teams announced: UAB, Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska, New Mexico and Temple Battle 4 Atlantis- 7 of 8 announced: Xavier, Kansas, Villanova, USC, Tenn, Wake Forest, UTEP Anaheim Classic- 7 of 8 teams announced: Arizona State, College of Charleston, Creighton, George Washington, Marquette, Miami and San Diego State Legends Classic- Not announced yet, Akron participated in 2008 so they are eligible again. Coaches vs. Cancer? Paradise Jam CBE Classic Cancun Challenge Preseason NIT Great Alaska Shootout Global Sports Classic Las Vegas Invitational
  10. With Scott Caldwell receiving the majority of the votes, the NCAA has announced that since he is from Akron he will be awarded the 5th place prize...
  11. Did you try turning the audio on? Sometimes when the videos load you have to click the audio button on the video to un-mute it.
  12. And now Oklahoma State is 20 in the AP.
  13. Say what you want about Penn St not being a great team, but they certainly have the name. My office is buzzing this morning with everyone talking about the Zips throttling mighty Penn St. In the eyes of the casual fan a win over psu is a lot better win then a win over a quality mid major that they have never heard of.
  14. Creighton is up 3-1 in the 2nd half. Looks like it will be our opponent that everyone expected.
  15. It is according to my espn ap.
  16. Game is on espnu.
  17. Both have 3 fouls.
  18. Enjoy...
  19. I would rather not play MI again. Remember the last time we played them twice in the same year? We dominated the first game (6-0 I think) then when it came tourney time, they somehow learned to play and made it a nerve racking game with several close calls. Plus they did beat us last year so I think they have learned how to game plan for us. Regardless though, I see a 2-1 victory.
  20. You get to count 1 non-D1 team on your win totals for the year. Dambrot uses it as a 3rd exhibition game.
  21. You get to count 1 non-D1 team on your win totals for the year. Dambrot uses it as a 3rd exhibition game.
  22. This thread is completely pointless now. We never need to discuss ranking or RPI at the end of a season again.
  23. Here are the top 16. Notre Dame Maryland Georgetown Uconn Akron UCLA Marquette St Louis UNC Louisville Tulsa Creighton New Mexico VCU Wake Forest Indiana I think UNC got screwed the most.
  24. The best we can hope for is for CC to win the Big South this year and do really well the rest of the year. They are picked to finish either 1st or 2nd in their league. They don't appear to have that tough of a schedule, so hopefully it happens.
