  1. Chris pitched seven solid innings tonight giving up 2 runs on 5 hits in Fenway Park against the BoSox. He handed the bullpen a 6-2 lead, we will see if they can keep it.
  2. Chris is pitching against the Tribe today at 3:00, game is on Ballys Sports Great Lakes. Nope, he was held out for some reason. Jose Berrios is penciled ion for tomorrow.
  3. Mark your calendars for August 25, 2024, the Cleveland Guardians are planning the second annual “UA Day at the Cleveland Guardians”. Full details at https://lwcal.uakron.edu/event/22864-ua-day-at-the-cleveland-guardians
  4. Chris pitched 7 shutout innings spacing out 5 hits to (hopefully) take the win. His record should be 4-6 after tonight.
  5. If you’re looking for something to watch (since the Zips didn’t make the MAC tourney), Chris Bassett has shut out the White Sox for four innings so far. Toronto batters handed him a comfortable 9 run lead.
  6. Game two was closer, Kent 6 Akron 5.
  7. Well the good guys built a nice 8-2 lead going into the 8th before the bullpen puked up 8 runs. Well, there’s always game two.
  8. Chris left the mound with. 3 run lead giving up 1 run in 6.3 innings. That should be good for a W, but I’m headed outside for awhile.
  9. I saw that. I have not seen anything about an injury. He was on Chris Rose Rotation talking about pitcher health… https://youtu.be/zGsin-uz8OQ?si=9-Gz1qhKsyPlpaLl
  10. Chris will be on MLB Network tomorrow at 1pm vs. Philadelphia (Nola)
  11. The good guys win again in Central Michigan, they’re 8-3 in the last eleven games. This team is putting it together. I would not be disappointed if they continued this run and earned a trip up here on the 22nd. It would be a nIce to have the underclass experience that. (not criticizing the seniors by any means). They’ve all definitely put the work in and deserve more games.
  12. Zips in the Pros after one month Chris Bassett has a 2-5 record with a 5.45 ERA, 34 K’s, and a 1.68 ERA. I haven’t been able to catch him on the tube yet this season. JT Brubaker’s career is still on hold, although he was traded by the Pirates to the Yankees. He recently started throwing off a mound and the team is looking at him being active after the All Star break. The Yanks are a half game out of first. Looks like there’s a good chance he’ll be playing late into the fall [fingers crossed].
  13. oops wrong thread
  14. If you like water, there are a lot of places to enjoy it here. The mile long pier in downtown Lorain is a really nice walk (even though it’s only a half mile one way). Put “Oasis Marinas” in your gps. Downtown Lorain is making a comeback. There are several parks and beaches along the shore in Sheffield Lake and Avon Lake. You’ll never run out of places to eat and shop. It’s been fun living here. If only the Zips were coming to the tourney…
  15. Me too. But we have to remember the tv commercials that come along with the highly lucrative (🤪) tv contracts. If a QB takes a second too long calling cadence it’s a penalty. If the network hack wants to go to commercial…
  16. We just need to hire a coach who is interested in building a team here. Heck one who actually shows up for work is nice. Not just get a paycheck until something better comes along. Building a program, not padding a resume. Maybe we're there. I'm not expecting miracles. Winning record in the MAC and be competitive against one or power conference foes. See also football.
  17. "DoOrDoNot" Nothing like using a movie quote for motivation for players born 16 years after the movie came out. "Who's Yoda?"
  18. With any change of regime you have players who were the faves by the old (losing) staff, and athletes can jump ship almost at will. It’s worse than free agency with some of these kids.
  19. I should be excited about this, I guess….
  20. Sorry guys, been away from the forum for awhile, not because I wanted to be. the good news: Chris Bassett had another quality start for the Blue Jays last night going 6.2 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 run against the Mariners. He had 4 K’s against 4 walks. When he’s on he’s 12-0 with 6+ IP, a Jays record. the bad news: His alma mater is in the middle of another build (hard to call it a rebuild). the good news: We have a team, the kids are trying, and it’s a great excuse to get outside on campus in the spring.
  21. Just curious. “Set up to fail”? He was an experienced college coach (not at this level) 40-8 at John Carroll, including a 12-2 9-0 season in D3. Sure the talent levels and size are way different, the X’s and O’s don’t change much. You make strategies to take advantages of their weaknesses while understanding your own. unless you don’t know how to.
  22. Time out with 42 seconds left? I hope they eat crap in the next round.
