After my class this morning, I decided to follow the women's soccer scrimmages today as they played a tripleheader against Ashland, Miami(OH), and Duquesne with 30 minute halves(60 mins against each team). We were outscored in the first half of the three scrimmages by a combined score of 1-nil. The second half was a different story. The Lady Zips outscored their three opponents for a combined score of 6-nil in the second half today. Once i get to digest the 9 hours of soccer today on UA's campus, I'll come abck and give you more of my thoughts, including an article on Akron Sports Now.... I am a student and got a ticket, but had no way to get to Chicago and back since all of my friends backed out at the last moment (tuesday), so I cancelled my ticket. Please yell extra loud for me for whoever is going...thank you...i'll be watching the game at the same friend's house, in the same room on the same television, that we watched the College Cup on that friday and sunday.... LET'S GO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't Wait! if memory serves....we were a 12 seed vs the 5 gonzaga correct? i can see a similiar situation i.e. going west as a 12 or 13 We were 13th seed and Gonzaga was the 4th seed...

My question is: What Quincy shows up tonight? Either way, we need him to keep his emotions in check..We can't afford any technical foul free throws tonight when every possession and point counts...

I don't want to sound like sour grapes, but this doesn't surprise me. I remember what he did towards the recruitment of Erick Howard. I don't want a guy that won't stay to his commitment like Howard did, but Tressel didn't help. If my memory serves me correctly, didn't Howard sign his Letter of Intent with the Zips? and then didn't Howard state that Treseel was still telling him he can go to a junior college and then play for Ohio State. He backed out of it, and did just that. Isn't it a violation to recruit/talk persuasively to a player that already signed their letter of intent?

Eastern Michigan seems to have our number in the regular season...when it comes to the postseason, who can forget the MAC Quarterfinals game from last year. The block from Zeke at the end of regulation to make it go to overtime, and then of course, the Steve McNees thress shot heard around the world of sports... Also, since the winner is going to be facing Miami(OH), do you think Charlie Coles will be making an appearance tonight? if so, can he please be put within the ak-rowdies...north end one half, and the south end the other half...the rowdies love him...it would be awesome if that can happen... So, how do you think tonight will go? will we have another nail biter, or is the 12.5 spread just right?

That's the one pet peeve I have with High School tennis....Is that I know a lot of coaches that'll "STACK" their lineup to give them the best shot to win the match...it's not the way it should be, but you can't do anything about it...

Most important in that, is the guards did not keep the player they were guarding in front of them. Some of the post players' fouls tonight for us, was the guards fault for not keeping them in front of us...

I know there's a few students trying to carpool there...I'm still debating whether to skip my first class of this semester(Psychology at 6:40-7:55), to go to this game or not...

the meeting at Anderson Arena was a high scoring game...the final score was 90-72 Box score score at halftime Bowling Green 47 Akron 35 Tecca had 16, Ruper had 15, and Murphy had 10. This should be an interesting game, but the rest of the supporting cast needs to score more tonight. Carly Young did have 14 against Bowling Green as well. Akron is on a roll and playing some great basketball right now. If Ruper can hit three's like she did against Ball State, Teccas/Young gets some work going, Murphy shows her senior leadership by producing big numbers, and my big key is Cassell/Williams need to control the tempo and take care of the ball. If Zips can do that, they should pull the upset... so... Who's all going to the game tonight?

If you don't feel comfortable on the South side bleachers, come over to the north side bleachers...i agree with you h.a.rowdie, we even had people in santa claus suits, soccer heads, etc. No one can stay in college forever(unless you're a professor, coach, or president of the university obviously), but you should always have that passion for your school. I haven't been able to go to many games this fall/winter due to coaching, but I tape all the basketball games that are televised, and if im able to get out of practice early enough, i come for the second half of the games. If you have the passion and pride for your school, you will have passion and pride for the rest of your life in whatever you do with your life. But if not, we can;t give it to you. Only yourself can do that....

When you play a team as God-awful as EMU, it shouldn't be a matter of a few baskets. That game should be a 20-point blowout win 9 out of 10 times. I guess this was that 1 out of 10?

Now im not at practice, so i don't know how they do there. But here is what I would have on the floor: McNees Roberts Diggs Cvetinovic Marshall McNees might change spots with Roberts in SG spot. I would like to see Roberts play some PG as well. Diggs has impressed me defensively, but McClannahan I see more of a offensive side then defense; however, he's not been as effective as of late. McKnight is just too much of a hazard on defense. He keeps picking up silly fouls on defense. We need to find this year's Jimmy Conyers fast. My opinion is that it could be Roberts if he produces more. It may be Diggs, or may even be Egner. But someone has to step up now, and help Zeke out...

Let's see. Downtrodden, back bencher Zips getting away with fouls even at home. The Refs must be slipping. Most coaches "work" the refs. Get over it. Kest has done a pretty decent job of lifting the lowly Lady Zips out of the stink cellar. All this while being continually poached by other conference teams ... including yours. This season Zips are young often starting three true freshmen. The Sockets start juniors and seniors. Zips got lucky with the scheduling or the might Sockets would have crushed the poor Lady Zips in TwoLeeDo. Try tossing a compliment or two rather than ranting how your over dog team sucked on the road. Geez, one of your ex- players decides to transfer to a school that wins, gets to the postseason, and ranks in top 50 of attendance in NCAA. What a piece of **** she is for having those aspirations. BTW, she is not on scholarship and probably won't be next year. Didn't realize you start three freshmen...im sure Tricia Cullop will convince them to transfer two hours west where they might have a chance to win... I'm not sure how you feel about it, but what would you do if Logan Pastor would of decided to move to McKinley school district instead of staying at Green? Would that of bothered you? SHE WAS!!!!!!!! they were the 4th seed in the MAC Tournament last year, and only had 2 seniors gone. She decided to transfer from a team that won 17 games and 10 MAC games a year ago. It was moving in a great direction. She decided to be selfish. If she wanted to go to Toledo, then why didn;t see sign there before? Because the coach wasn't interested then? so Toledo's coach is trying to recruit players already in the college ranks? yeah...i never had a problem with Toledo fans before, but you just made the rep of ur fans go down a lot more...too bad im not going tommorow to watch the Akron men's wipe the floor of the Sockets...
