  2. I don't think anyone has touched on this yet... When the torch was passed to Kyle Pohl Tuesday night, Dalton Williams was less than 200 yards from setting the Zips all-time single-season passing yardage record. It had to have been bittersweet for Dalton, but he was a true leader and went along with what was best for the team going forward. Watching him on the sidelines, he appeared to be as involved and engaged as if he was still playing. On this day of Thanksgiving, I would like to thank DW13 for wanting to be a Zip. True team player and total class individual.
  3. Coaches very rarely call a perfect game. Lots of times the players on the field can mask a coach's mistakes by making plays with superior athleticism. When you don't have the talent, some of the usual coaching errors are more glaring, so I am throwing Bowden & Co. a bone here. However, there was no excuse in the fake FG try. My head almost exploded on that one.
  4. Speaking of Turner, anybody know why he missed the trip last night?
  5. Not a real great crowd here at the Glass Bowl...glad to see Fluellen on the sidelines! Go Zips!
  6. Especially when the numbers are so close.
  7. Much ado about nothing. Someone was talking shit about his team and he called 'em on it. Evidently Terry is instilling some pride in these boys.
  8. Bill King called the Big East the EFCC this week. The Exit Fee Conference Conference. Apt name.
  9. Thanks to DiG for the statistics. These numbers show that the progrum is definitely going in the right direction, dare I say, even more drastically than the numbers show at first glance. In 2011, a lot of the numbers accumulated in Zips games were recorded after the outcome was decided, against the opposition's 2nd and 3rd teams. This year's numbers were not padded during garbage time. I know this may be of small consolation to many, since statistics are for losers but as GP1 pointed out in an earlier thread, we are a better class of loser this year. Unfortunately, losing to a terrible team like UMass puts the Kibosh on the warm fuzzy the numbers might otherwise foment.
  10. Have fun and have a drink for me!
  11. Gulden Draak looks like something I would like to try. Hazelnut Brown Nectar is heavenly! Dr. Z, Akronnnnnnnn & all other ZN.o beer lovers... can we agree now to get together for the MAC basketball tournament and sample some good beers? Let's make it happen. I had these tonight...
  12. I hate Portage County as much as anybody, but... The best possible scenario for both schools would be if both programs elevated to the point where the WW game decided the MAC East, year in, year out. It would be the best medicine for the fan apathy surrounding both football programs. Rivalries thrive when the game means something.
  13. Today was International Stout Day. I observed the day with You?

    CCU Game

I am hoping at some point this year we will get to see a no-holds-barred cage match to settle who is the "ultimate basketball insider" once and for all.
  15. Sorry. Meant to say passing offense. You agree with the first half of the sentence?
  16. Lots of good points in this thread. As pissed off as I have been after some of the close losses this year, after I blow off some steam and vent, I know in my heart that Coach Bowden is well on his way to turning the Zips around. There has been some questioning of the second half play calling. Some accusations of being out-coached. Bottom line is that Terry took over the absolute worst team in division IA football and turned the offense into the best in the MAC in his first year. Unfortunately, that masterful job of coaching can get trumped by losing close games, resulting in being judged by a fanbase that is starving for success. Very unfair to Coach Bowden, but it goes with the territory. Still...I apologize, Coach Bowden. As much as I have difficulty being patient, I know I need to be. The wins are in the pipeline. Watching Terry's show in Mondays gets my mind right and I have to assume he works the same angle with the players. Saturday should be a good catharsis for everyone. Go Zips!
  17. Zips win convincingly, 42-21. I think Jawon Chisholm comes up huge in this one.
  18. I was cool with this thread until I got to the part about enticing students to the game with free food.
  19. Calling for 57 degrees Saturday? Oh yeah, baby. I boldly predict not only win #2, but I will also bet we have the best tailgate of the year. I am going with a Christmas theme because this win is going to be my early present. Bet you are wondering what my Christmas theme consists of...I bet you will like it.
