  1. We were down 1...definitely not this bad! We didn't even show up for this game
  2. They are just idiots plain and simple. Not sure what it is, but it seems like the past few teams we've played have just been shooting lights out. It's not even open shots, just ugly deep shots that are hitting too. I'd like to think their luck won't last all game but who knows. From the looks of it I don't have much hope for this game... We are just playing flat out lazy!!
  3. Nice bit of acting...
  4. I think this discussion about the student seating shows that the JAR just will not work anymore if you want a unified section. A new arena with a bowl configuration will make it easy to give the students 1/3 of the lower bowl, leaving the rest open for premium ticket holders. Then an upper deck can be used for general admission. Add club seats and suites, and you'll have the perfect arena. The small seating areas at the JAR are terrible, and I think the reason you don't see a lot of students down there is because they hate it. When I was a student at UA, I tried it out freshman year. After one game I decided I would never sit down there again.
  5. The most impressive part is definitively the area south of Exchange. That's why I still believe the arena needs to be right next to Infocision, somewhere in that general area. Making a plaza similar to Gateway in Cleveland
  6. Can BG miss a dang shot? wow we seriously should be beating them by 20 right now.
  7. Unfortunately this is just added proof that Can't is a completely different team at home, than away. Similar to Ohio I think they are both undefeated at home in MAC play. I'm not sure how much validity that adds to our wins at home against both of them. Does that really mean that we are a better team? I would hope so, but I guess we'll have to find out soon enough. At the end of the day it's great to see a hated conference rival lose, but at the same time I'd rather ignore it. Sometimes Karma will come right around and bite you. We laugh at Can't for losing, next thing you know we lost to BG...just saying
  8. Exactly how I feel. As much as I would like to see Clayton Moore or Nicely as the starter, we have like 7 QB's if I remember correctly. Could be an exaggeration, but wouldn't you think that at least ONE OF THEM would stand out and get this team some dadgum wins! Same goes with the RB's, I'm going to have favorites but I'll take wins anyways we can get them. Imagine what would happen if we have a young QB emerge this year as a star. A Jeremy Lin of the Zips if you will, leading the team to a 3-0 start and 3-1 record after four games haha. Zips fans would be going nuts, with the school and entire city crazy about football again! We want a winner and are desperate to see it! Even with a small glimpse of success I believe the fans will flock to support the team...oh what a dream scenario. But in all honesty I'd be happy with a 2-2 start, but even happier if we find a QB that can get the ball in the endzone!
  9. wait...$56 million?? holy crap! We can build a new arena with all that...
  10. Only time I remember off the top of my head was the Dunk contest a few years ago he was wearing the Akron kicks.
  11. I would actually say Can't is more comparable to a thrift store than a Dollar General. A place full of worn out garbage that nobody wants anymore. Calling Can't "Straight Dollar General" would be an insult to the store! As far as the rest of the MAC is more like Dollar Tree. Where everything is under a $1, with Akron being the only school worth more.
  12. The main problem I have with the MAC is all the teams are so close together. It doesn't lend itself to much exposure around the nation. Seriously, how many games to we play in Ohio and Michigan? When we could potentially be playing in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, WV, and NC. I understand there are a few dozen fans that like to travel to some away games, but really have to side with the national exposure. At the end of the day it's hard to get excited about playing Eastern, Western, Central Michigan. Even being in a different conference than Can't and Ohio doesn't bother me. I don't like either one of those schools so really don't care.
  13. There's no reason we shouldn't consider it. Seriously, the MAC is terrible!
  14. Being on a Thursday, it makes me wonder if it will actually get a good TV spot. It's tough to think ESPN would pick up a home game of a team with 2 wins the past 2 years. But hey I think they showed FIU-Louisville at the beginning of last year so anything is possible. STO only shows MAC matchups if I remember correctly, so maybe ESPU could be a possibility?? Any crowd predictions yet? I have no idea how season ticket sales have been so far, but I'd assume they are about the same as last year. For attendance I'd guess around 15-18,000 range. Since last year was listed at 15K, anything better would be great!
  15. Just goes to show how lucky and grateful we should be to have a guy like Bowden running this team now. He could win 2 games next year, but I truly believe he cares about his players more than anything and would do anything to see them succeed not only on the field, but off.
  16. We can beat anyone (Miss State, Marshall) but we can also lose to anyone (Valpo, Duquesne, Buffalo). Just depends on what "team" shows up that game. I just hope they can go into the tourney with some confidence, motivation, and run the rest of the MAC out of the Q. But I'm sure there will be at least one nail-biter. I'm not very confident we will be able to win the tourney sadly. But it's our own fault losing to cupcakes cost us a shot at any at-large consideration.
  17. I think it's our offense that sucks right now...you're not missing anything!!
  18. OU will still win don't worry about it.
  19. and all of them are better than the MAC teams
  20. My guess is they will stream on GoZips.com. But really STO should pick it up. Last year it was held in the fieldhouse, which surprisingly was pretty much filled.
  21. Like I said in another topic. Akron is a diamond in the pile of s*** that is the MAC. Outside of Temple I have ZERO respect for any other schools. We have by far the best facilites when it comes to football, add the potential of a new arena and no other schools are willing to make the kind of commitment to athletics as we do.
  22. Same here. I thought there were rules against using NCAA student athlete's names on souvenirs like this. Just like jerseys can't be made with names on them. Maybe since it only technically has his nickname, it's allowed? and like others have said maybe the free factor could be the reason too. Would love a Zeke bobblehead to go with my 2 Zippys. Make him really tall breaking out of the JAR ceiling! Also KD, or even Diggs and Harney with the mini 'fros.
  23. Oh well that's good. No one wants to see the fugly people that attend OU on tv anyway...
  24. exactly! Akron is a diamond in the pile of s*** that is the MAC.
  25. I know I wish they would have mentioned something about him...
