  1. One thing I reinforced yesterday - never, ever bet on Can't State. Toledo let me down too, but starting QB left the game with a concussion.
  2. Nebraska down 3 scores at home vs. Purdon't. Their excuse to schedule Bethune Cookman right after we beat Northwestern/they lost to Troy because they expect to playing in the B1G championship game looks funnier than ever right now. Bethune Cookman may very well be their only win on the season.
  3. It's early, but Northwestern is up on Michigan 17-0...
  4. Update - now 4 scores. At home. Blow. Out.
  5. Buffalo down 3 scores to Army.
  6. NIU Army Kent State Toledo Iowa State Purdue When is Ohio getting in on the sports gambling revenue train?!
  7. Milwee isn't perfect, but I tend to lean towards him looking ineffective being due to the fact that we didn't having enough talent. I guess you could say he is partially responsible for that. I think this year and the year with Jojo/Lane were the years we had the best talent on offense. The offense in TB's first year here put up the best numbers, but I think that was more of a factor of Dalton Williams having 4-5 years of experience in the system. People like to say TB was calling the plays, but a friend who used to work for the team said Milwee was doing it then (and TB would signal them in and possibly override if necessary). I believe I've posted articles saying as much as well. We started 5-3 the year with Jojo/Lane, then finished the season with WR Tyrell Goodman taking snaps. Warren Ball couldn't even catch a break which hurts as well when you don't have depth. We seem to have talent with the starters and back ups at all 3 levels (QB, RB, WR) for the foreseeable future, so I think I'm less likely to cut him slack going forward if the offense becomes an issue. I think you are spot on about Van. He is 'just a guy' on the football field. Seems to hold on to the ball, has decent speed, and hits the hole...but he just doesn't create anything or make anyone miss. I would prefer Sands be the main back, but he also has durability concerns, which may explain why he doesn't get more opportunity? I'm down for giving the best performing young RB a chance to prove himself. Sidenote: I've yet to watch the ISU game. I feel like such a bad fan. Gotta get on that tonight!
  8. Yes the current MAC media darling is Buffalo, Tyree Jackson and their WR Anthony Johnson (even though they have another who is statistically better so far). They have not beaten anyone of note so far, but are just undefeated. Temple lost to FCS Villanova and Rutgers is a joke. I'm curious to see how they do vs. Army next week. They also have us, Toledo, Ohio, Miami, and whoever they would face in the MAC-C (assuming they get there). I don't see some type of magical season from them. A good season possibly, but nothing like NIU or WMU have had.
  9. Iowa State seems like a school that is good to do "business" with. I mean look no further than how they handled their South Dakota State cancellation compared to Nebraska. I think they probably think the same of us. I was out of town, so unable to watch the game but I am going to tonight. The place looked packed, which is impressive to me considering historically how bad they've been. @Cykron seems to rep them well.
  10. This stinks. Larkin was the lone bright spot in that offense and an Ohio guy to boot. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/24783116/jeremy-larkin-northwestern-wildcats-retiring-football-due-spinal-condition
  11. Sad the weather robbed us the likelihood of beating their butt on national prime time television.
  12. Sissy's. Interested to see our move. Would love to play UNC or ECU if we aren't in the MAC-C.

  14. As I was saying... https://gozips.com/news/2018/9/18/football-akrons-alvin-davis-named-bednarik-player-of-the-week.aspx
  15. Anyone think NIU is going to knock off FSU this week? Seems like this is the worst FSU team in a very long time.
  16. good point. it was Williams.
  17. Just watched the ISU/OU game this evening. This is gonna be tough. ISU crowd > Northwestern. ISU WRs > Northwestern. Montgomery > Larkin. Back up QB is solid as well. Doesn't seem to be much difference between him and the starter if you ask me. We can't afford a first half like last week if we want a chance. Going to need some help in ST/defense as well. Hopefully we can catch them looking ahead!
  18. Depth chart for Northwestern game is in the game notes. ISU should be released tomorrow or Weds, but should be few, if any changes. https://gozips.com/documents/2018/9/10//3_GameNotes_Northwestern_091518.pdf?id=13159
  19. Just looked at the guide and it shows Akron @ Iowa State at noon on FS Ohio.
  20. Awesome. I might miss it live so it looks like I'll get to see the replay at the very least.
  21. You are spot on. I was trying not to be too specific. I think he definitely settled down in the second half as he only had maybe 1 penalty then. Luckily we were able to win despite that first half. FWIW, I didn't notice any let downs from an actual blocking perspective (meaning he seemed to be able to hold his own). Maybe that is why the coaching staff stuck with him. Has the talent, just needs to put and keep it together from a mental standpoint. I'd bet he does going forward. Learning experience. Also, we definitely had two #9s on the field during the last play. The football Gods were on our side for once. Learning experience.
  22. My thoughts on the game: First half was rough on offense. Offensive line killed us with penalties and making us always be behind the chains as a result. Like Bowden said in his presser, I think it was a result of some acclimating to playing on the biggier stage. Definitely settled down in the second half and played well. Nice job of Gasser to hit his FGs. Not going to hold the last one against him as it was a long one. Our defense is bad as as expected. Agreed Bell played on hell of a game and both Davis'. MLB is a much better fit for Bell, IMO. Alvin should be the national defensive player of the week if there is such a thing! I can't believe he returned the second INT for a TD. First one was sweet too obviously. I can't wait to watch Morris and Williams shred the MAC for years to come. We did have a lot of questions marks at WR going into the year, but as I suspected, there is more talent there. On the injury front, I recall Jean-Baptiste, Featherstone, and Brady getting injured. I think Featherstone was in crutches after the game. I hope none are too serious and they can get back out there quickly. I really hope we can go into conference play relatively healthy. I was pretty baffled at the way our last possession was handled. I also get not wanting to punt the last play. Listening to the presser, it has been something thats been practiced many times, just wasn't set up/executed properly. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the clock operator was a little late starting it and quick to stop it on that play as well. If we really did have two #9s on the field the last play, we lucked out. Definitely some learning experiences that came out this game for players and coaches, just thankful it didn't cost us a big win. Was a pleasure meeting/celebrating with @Captain Kangaroo and his family. The Zips family section (I assume) at the game was an awesome & rowdy bunch. It's nice to see the players have a section for these far away games. Northwestern paid us 1.2M to go up there and kick their a$$. Who would have thought we would be undefeated 3 weeks into the season?! Now time to go read some crying on the Northwestern board and then on to Iowa State!
  23. FYI the replay is available on the Fox Sports App. Watching now.
  24. Sarcasm meter is still broken Balsy.
