what in the f. Today sucks!

Wow. He really doesn't want to be in Akron. https://www.ohio.com/akron/news/local/ua-president-is-finalist-for-top-job-at-utah-state-university#.Ws-j3-gUSBA.twitter

I like the mention that he is making his presence felt, but I wouldn't call him a newcomer. He played in 11 games in 16 and 3 last year before the injury.
-
It is the new norm in CBB. Happens at every program.
-
Can't speak for the MAC squads (especially football), but off of the top of my head, Butler,George Mason, and FGCU's NCAA tourney success and the increase in applications is well documented. http://eaglenews.org/news/fgcu/fgcu-admissions-spikes-march-madness-run/

Agreed. I bet there is a grad transfer out there with a year of eligibility that can make our team better.
-
Yeah I'm down for the best player we can get at this point, regardless of position.
-
It's almost like az71 isn't aware that we have a 6'11" former 4 star recruit who is eligible this year as well.
-
So for comparison sake and with the caveat of it being against lesser competition, he shot 2.6% better than Utomi on all FGs last year, 2% better on 3 point %, and 5% better at the FT line. I'll be the first to say I don't know jack about evaluating basketball players, but trying to not be biased, his release looks pretty slow. Maybe it just looks awkward though because he is a lefty. Hopefully he brings it! Eligible immediately with 3 years left.
-
He seems to shoot pretty efficiently considering his position.

Jeremy Roscoe committed. http://verbalcommits.com/players/jeremy-roscoe

A few things that stuck out to me from your comments: Has Sampson overtaken (at least for the day) Reinke as the starting DE opposite of Davis? Your comment about Jean-Baptiste making an impact this year is very welcomed as I did not have any opinion of him. "We're a little thin at WR, but reinforcements are coming." Would you mind elaborating on that? I haven't heard of any of our guys being injured and am not aware of anyone else coming besides true freshman. Anything positive at all re: McGriff? Thanks!!

Akron Zips 2018 Football Recruiting Story - by ZipsNation.org
LZIp replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Of the people mentioned in that article, I could see one of the big freshman backs being immediate contributors (White or Alce) as they are pretty highly rated and a short yardage back is a need and we do have short yardage formations. In the past we've used TEs and even a nose guard to get short yardage. Hopefully that won't be needed anymore, though it did seem to work most of the time, albeit gimmicky. MJ McGriff as he is a transfer from IL and looks talented on tape. We lost 5 WRs from last year's team. None were really of superior talent, but all were in the rotation most of the season. He reminds me a lot of poor man's JoJo Natson, who was on the team a few years ago and is now in the NFL. Bryce Peterson and/or Landon Forman as they are both JUCO guys and we don't have a lot of experienced depth at OL plus have a few holes to fill from last year due to graduation. -
Yeah..I'm sure the transfers who came here and sat out a year are really considering going somewhere else and giving up yet another year of their college eligibility

Thanks for taking the time, fellas. Looking forward to your reports!

No offense to Sina, but I feel writing about him leaving is sort of click bait. Nobody really cares about walk ons (except the great Lucas Smith of course). Sina did know his role and played it sound when he did get some run. Best of luck to him. Get that scholly somewhere! Similarly with Torrey, a guy who I think knew his role and played it well this year. I would have liked to see what he could do playing more aggressive, but the way the team is constructed going forward, he wasn't going to get that chance anytime soon. He definitely looked like the most timid player on the team. Best of luck to him and I hope he finds somewhere where he can shine. Though I'm not happy to see any of these guys go, I'm not too concerned either. Let's bring in better players Groce, Ford, Fulford, and gang. Onwards and upwards!

No 14-18 isn't where we want to go. Are you serious? We've had a coach who was great in the regular season and that didn't do us much. We didn't get real respect at a national level. Winning games in the tournament is what gets respect at the national level and what brings in better recruits and more money (in various ways). You don't know he will be quick to jump again and you don't know that other teams will be quick to hire him again. And lets be clear - his tourney success was not a one and done. He won multiple games in the tourney over multiple years. And by given the circumstances, I absolutely mean the financial distress. I "understand" your point in that you think a new football stadium shouldn't have been built. What you don't understand, or apparently forget, is the feasibility study that was done on the Rubber Bowl and the cost it would have taken to repair that. Someone else can go into more detail than I care to look up. The Rubber Bowl lasted 68 years, the JAR is only 34 years old. The Info is not extravagant by any means compared to our peers. FAU stadium, built in 2011 cost 70 million. North Texas stadium built in 2011 cost 78 million. Tulane's stadium built in 2014 cost 75 million. Of course, if you're suggesting we should have dropped the football program for the very slim chance that building a new basketball arena would have made us a Gonzaga or Xavier level program, then I have no interest in further discussing this with you dude.
-
What is being repeated? The stadium has been discussed more than enough. I can't have an honest discussion about the future of the program with you if you think a very real transition year that we just went through is going to have a huge impact on the future. We've got the coach who has shown he can take a MAC school where we want it to go. We've got a program that isn't starting from scratch thanks to KD. I don't think anything was squandered. KD was the highest paid coach in the MAC. The school has made financial commitments to the basketball program as they've got the money (lighting, scoreboards, etc). I think they are doing the best they can given the circumstances. KD did a nice job but he is no Huggins. If he really wanted to be here, then he would be here.

Sorry Balsy, I like you. I do. I can admit I lean conservative, though hardly consider myself as political at all. I'd like to think I've had a solid, well rounded experience so far in my life growing up in rural Ohio and living in an urban setting the past decade. My political beliefs aren't as clear cut as you'd like to make them out to be. Hopefully can you admit you lean wayyyy to the left, because you definitely do. I still like you. I take you for the type of person who doesn't like people who don't have the same beliefs as you, which is disappointing. Maybe I'm assuming wrong. You've built a reputation of complaining about just about everything on here, which may have been why I was quick to call you out and wasn't exactly nice about it. A completely innocent comment was made in an otherwise very nice write up about a scrimmage that a poster took time out of their day to go and see and the only thing you had to say was question and point out how having a team prayer may be a "big no no". Come on man, don't act like you weren't trying to start anything and that comment wasn't politically motivated. Even if it wasn't, I hope you can see how it could be construed that way. I just checked your post history. Your last 15 posts (all that I could see) were either related to this topic or complaining about President Wilson....and you were siding with dre of all people. Most of us are on here to talk Zips sports, and it seems you like to come on here to do anything but that anymore. Also, you didn't correct me. I never stated the pledge of allegiance always had "god" in it. It definitely does today though. Like I said..you'll argue anything. http://www.ushistory.org/documents/pledge.htm

Eric Bentley, Reggier Corner, Rich Hall, and Keyondre White are early enrollees. Brandon Bischof too I guess, though I assume he is a walk on. Bryce Peterson is here as well. Of course we could debate what exactly an early enrollee is, but those are the new players for this class already on campus and practicing.

How is continually complaining about past decisions forever in any way productive?

I don't think there is ever a deadline for someone to transfer.
