There aren't high expectations for the team this year, but I do think they have some talent to surprise us. The thing is, IMO, the MAC is not scary at all this year. The exodus of talent from the conference after last season is well documented. I looked at the pre-season all MAC teams and came away unimpressed. Thompson IV (EMU), Wilder (WMU), and Walker (KSU) seem like the 3 best players. After that............a huge meh.

Lot of smack talk re: the true freshman QB, probably rightfully so. Sure would be embarrassing if he came back home and kicked our asses though.

I think most will agree it will be a tougher than normal season, and that really has nothing to do with Groce considering there wasn't much talent left to begin with and Dambrot did his fair share of poaching.

Nice. I'm not sure how it will work opening a separate excel file like this, but I have seen people use Google Docs for similar situations. So we are going to need a separate tab for each game it looks like, then maybe a summary tab showing trends. I'm an excel nerd so I'll most likely mess around with it some. This could probably warrant its own thread/a sticky IMO.

Totally agree with this. Look no further than 6-6 Miami getting the match up with Miss. St. last year. I mean I guess the MAC champ did end up getting Wisconsin, but that was obviously an outlier.

We've lost to a probable playoff team in PSU, now ranked Iowa State (who has beaten Oklahoma), 5-2 probably Sun-belt champ with a W over LSU in Troy, and 6-1, probable MAC champ, whose only loss is to undefeated Miami. These are top P5 and G5 teams we've lost to. Who really cares about the score yesterday. Last year WMU beat us 41-0. Didn't mean crap this year. Things got out of hand quick and we don't exactly have a high powered offense to keep up. A few bounces our way and yesterday can look a lot different. Not a W, but a lot more respectable. Smith holds onto the ball at the 1, Woody doesn't overthrow Bickley, etc. If we lose like we did yesterday to an OU, or lose to a Miami, Buffalo with their 3rd string QB, or Kent, I can understand the bitching. Can you provide some insight on which players we should expect in the spring @94zipgrad ? Does this include just freshman or potentially some of our other non-qualifiers (King and Jest)?

Balsy, any gauge on whether or not there will be enough bowl eligible (6-6 or better) teams this season? Probably too early to tell, but its been the case the past few years and I recall reading about it around this time, probably a little later.
