  1. EA on Lane. Reads more like yet another shot at the Browns to me though. Little substance. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/jerome_lane_jr_hopes_his_nfl_f.html#incart_river_index
  2. I don't mean to keep blowing this thread up, but this is too hilarious not to share. Obviously the person asking George the question is a year off, but George has no clue who Darryl Monroe is (click on the tweet to see the response).
  3. Hopefully this doesn't affect the relationship with SVSM in a negative way.
  4. I'll also add this for Lane. I have no clue how he will turn out at WR. I think most of us think he has pretty good potential. With that said I will bet on him having a decent length of a career if he buys into being a special teamer/reserve WR at worst. We saw his potential on defense. Should have an automatic leg up on a lot of other reserve WR journeymen there. He could be a stud on the ST unit.
  5. JN...undecided. Incredible player and athlete but his size will probably be too much to overcome. If I had to pick I would say yes.SP....no. Underwhelmed his whole career to me, although he was apparently playing injured this season. I'll throw in DeAndre Scott as a guy I think could be picked late/UDFA. He seemed incredibly sound his whole career. I don't know anything about his athleticism though so maybe that could be a knock from teams. Not sold as much on Hope and/or Jones, but we've had equal or lesser guys get shots (Bryce Cheek with the Chiefs). So my picks for guys who get a shot..Marcus, Lane, Scott, and maybe Natson. Not knowing #'s makes it difficult. John Ross broke the record with his 40 and is now guaranteed to go in the first round. Dri Archer got himself clear up to the 3rd round because of his 40 and then his career flamed out a few years in. If I had to guess Jojo lit it up.
  6. I have to say, being a Browns fan I do a ton of reading up on the draft and I think Marcus is going to be a steal for whoever drafts/signs him. 3rd round talent IMO but an injury riddled senior season is preventing him from getting any buzz at all.
  7. So GT actually provided some insight (spelling errors and all), even though he couldn't be bothered to tweet it. Looks like 20 teams were represented, including Browns WR coach Al Saunders. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-football-browns-check-in-on-ua-receiver-jerome-lane-at-pro-day-1.755969
  8. I don't think it means much as they each bring a different skill set, both of which are valuable to the team. Josh is a 2. Ivey is a tweener 2/3. I think KD starting both Tino and Noah has more of an impact, that is if he cared all that much about starting. The 6th man is essentially a starter.
  9. Akron (along with every other school) will receive a one time distribution from the NCAA based on the number of athletic scholarships awarded. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2017/03/24/ncaa-200-million-payout-bonus/99582450/ Our number is $743,645. https://www.gannett-cdn.com/usatoday/editorial/sports/2017-ncaa-special-distribution-by-school.pdf
  10. Damn, I hate to see that. He had a rough stretch during the season, but definitely had his bright spots, especially come tourney play. He was named on the MAC all-freshman team and still had plenty of time to continue to develop. This is no small loss. The only thing that will alleviate this is if that scholly goes to someone who is better, which I don't see being easy to do.
  11. more info on the pro day http://www.gozips.com/sports/fball/2017-18/releases/20170324hm94gv
  12. Cleveland State hires Dennis Felton. http://www.wkyc.com/sports/ncaa/ncaab/dennis-felton-named-new-cleveland-state-basketball-coach/425254281
  13. Nice post, Keener. I like it better than your constant sarcasm....maybe I need to lighten up though. Speaking of @johnnyzip84..where the heck has he been!?
  14. Not being a sure thing isn't a good reason for choosing an unknown quantity over a known good quantity. I suppose time will tell. We need @K92 and @Zipgrad01's insight!
  15. Need more bowl seasons. I went to The Score (formerly known as Pint's..i still miss Pint's) to watch the Potato Bowl with some friends. Had a better time than I ever did in college watching them. It was neat seeing a bar full of people that were into every play of a game that featured our football team. Got to have more of those seasons, and probably an exceptional season to get people truly on board.
  16. Still shocked that the field has more votes than Woody, though the thought didn't seem uncommon before when discussing. I guess I just really don't understand the line of logic. He is tossing the ball now and will reportedly be able to throw the ball by the start of fall camp. To me this means he will be full go. I don't see how he won't be ready after being full go for all of training camp. Even if the staff decides to slowly bring him back as the outcome of the first 2 games likely will not change no matter who is QB, I don't see how he isn't the starter vs Iowa State. edit: However, we have seen Bowden get hypnotized by the skill set in the past (Tra'Von Champman, anyone?). So I guess that could be the wildcard.
  17. Seems very random for a TX kid who is still in High School. Unless he happens to have some obscure local connection, which would also explain the recruitment.
  18. Totally fair and to each his own. Apparently the MAC feels that they benefit more from the TV money and exposure than the loss of attendance. I don't go the weekday games generally. Undecided on Kent and OU this season but will probably do it as I consider it worth the inconvenience.
  19. I'm not sure what your point is. My point is that people go to basketball and other sporting events during the week and don't complain about it. I don't know where the length of the season(s) fit into the discussion.
  20. A bunch of excuses. If you really want to go you'll be there. Its an inconvenience once or twice a year. You've got 8 months to plan for it.
  21. I do find some irony in the complaining about Zips having football games on Tuesdays, but nobody every peeps a word about the soccer or basketball weekday games. I personally am not a giant fan myself. I know it takes an extra hour of game time than the other spots. I know you want to tailgate. Fact of the matter is if you really want to be there you will be there.
  22. That;s certainly a positive way to look at it. I think we can all agree that the use needs expanded, however. But then again people say the same thing about Browns stadium. Maybe its not easy to attract events to an outdoor stadium in Northeast Ohio.
  23. Not to mention people like to conveniently forget it would have cost more to renovate the Rubber Bowl. A stadium was needed, get over it.
  24. I assumed as much. Was talking about the inside WR.
  25. Zeke, Big Dog, and Gladden seemed to have been the biggest gets for Dambrot since I've been a fan. 2 of 3 have turned out pretty well. Really the only guys that don't need development are the 5 star one and dones.
