Not agreeing or disagreeing, but they mentioned during the broadcast that the Zips are #1 in the MAC in defense efficiency..

Aa. Jackson's career has been disappointing for me. Is he a great basketball talent? No. But he is a solid athlete with a high motor. He just can't seem to harness his energy into consistently positive play. Shame too as there's a spot for that type of player on every team.

Great game. Great road win IMO. We played pretty darn good. I can't even complain about defense....just give credit to CMU's guards. I don't want to play this Chippewa team in Cleveland.

One heck of a run to end the half. Kwan and Big Dog were exceptional. Good too see Josh hit a shot at the end....finally.

So....Keene and Rayson are the real deal.

Seeing our recruits recruit for us is a new thing for me. Love it.

Anyone want to tell me who Renfroe (Clemson) had scholarship offers from coming out of HS?

Besides WV, offer list is full of G5s and BC. We might have a chance...

That is just an ignorant statement. Be better, Zipsnation.

The offer wasn't pulled.

I would dream of a year like that as well. Kent was brought up above and like it or not they are a pretty good comparison to our program historically. Would you trade this year that WMU had (beat nobody of significance) to go back to what Kent is now? Heck even in Kent's great year they beat a ranked B1G team on the road. Let Bowden finish out his contract, but evaluate, keep options open, and plan for the future in the meantime. We can't afford to buy him out. Save that money for a more high profile coach if needed. Maybe he doesn't turn us into an Ohio, but at the very least he is building a foundation to have at minimum an average MAC program which is valuable considering program history.
-
Right. We benefited financially just as much as WMU or Ohio or Kent or anyone else did. Thats why I was tracking weekly and rooting like crazy for WMU to make it.

Two OSU lineman are reportedly transferring today. Unfortunately looks like none are coming to Akron, but there are supposed to be more players leaving. Hopefully Fickell doesn't steal our "pipeline" of OSU cast offs. Lets hope we can get someone. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2017/01/79066/ohio-state-offensive-lineman-kyle-trout-will-transfer-from-program-per-report

I suppose we will see. If it works out for them, I may change my tune. As I said, it looks like at this stage of the game they will have to settle for scraps as every other head coaching vacancy has been filled. Didn't seem like BG got a prime candidate last year after multiple years of success. They settled for a positional coach from Texas Tech. Other programs like Toledo and NIU have had success replacing head coaches because they are an established program and promote from within.

Do you think WMU got embarrassed by Wisconsin?
-
That same argument could be made for all G5 schools actually, not just the MAC. As I said....WMU got to enjoy a nearly undefeated season beating a middling or horrible P5 opponent (we've done that) and some MAC opponents to win a MAC championship (which we haven't done, but definitely attainable). All that it enabled them to do is lose to a big time opponent in an exhibition game. We could do that 4 times a year if we really wanted to...To me that isn't worth essentially starting over from scratch. Losing your coach, half of your recruiting class being gutted, and scrambling to hire the coaching scraps a month before signing day. Nobody on a national stage cares about Hawaii losing to Georgia or NIU losing to FSU now and nobody will care about WMU losing to Wisconsin. I believe we currently have a coach who has a proven track record in the toughest conference in America. As I said above, I wouldn't sell my soul to lose an exhibition game. If WMU goes back to sucking, I'm betting their fans will feel the same way. Having a program that is enjoyable to watch year after year is worth more than some "magical" year that nobody outside of the fan base will recognize. Most schools will never make an "access bowl". There is approx. a 1.7% chance to make it per school every year. The stars aligned perfectly for WMU to make it. They didn't beat anybody impressive. It's crazy that nobody wants such a successful coach like Les Miles. 19 FBS vacancies have been filled and not a single one seriously considered Miles. Crazy.
-
Rob Ianello was supposed to be a pretty great recruiter too. What does WMU have now? What did they REALLY achieve this season? WMU won nothing of significance and now they have nothing. As Akron natives Andre Knott and Zac Jackson would say..."Congrat"
-
A much needed dimension honestly. I'm very impressed with Ivey. He's got some Ibatayo to his game.
-
And if that happens, its probably safe to assume Akron couldn't afford the Pelini/Miles price tag.
-
If you're going to consider Les Miles then you might as well consider Pelini too. He's playing for a FCS title today. I haven't done any reading on who their targets are, but think he would be a good fit for WMU.

Well said.

So Fleck flipped at least 6 WMU recruits to Minnesota last night...
