  1. Jon Rothstein ‏@JonRothstein 8h8 hours ago Arkansas will host Akron as part of its non-conference schedule, source told @CBSSports. Date is TBD.
  2. ASU isn't a polytech. Proof you don't need it to have these partnerships with corps.
  3. Seems like a pretty solid get!
  4. seems somewhat confirmed. Now lets add Arkansas! Nova is def the trophy add though. Jon RothsteinVerified account ‏@JonRothstein Villanova will host Akron as part of its non-conference schedule, sources told @CBSSports. Date is TBD
  5. It appears I did misinterpret your initial post that started this and I apologize. In all fairness, your posting style is hard to decipher with how diplomatic it is and you're unwillingness to take strong stances.
  6. wut http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/05/university_of_akron_spends_111.html#incart_river
  7. Sure. Can you explain to me why you were a fan of Tressel during the presidency nomination process and were mostly not a fan of Scarborough, but now all of the sudden (I believe he has had very little time/done little to "prove himself") agree with everything Scaborough seems to be doing yet dismiss Tressel's opinion on the subject?
  8. Fact: You were in favor of Tressel being selected over Scarborough (nothing wrong with that), but now that Scarborough is President, his opinion is somehow better and more informed than Tressel's, at least that what I take from your post asking if anyone valued Tressel's opinion over Scottie's followed by the " ". I was just pointing out the hypocrisy in that the person you were for before is now all of the sudden wrong, and the person you couldnt find anything good about is now all of the sudden right If you want to debate the meaning of "fan boy", so be it. It was hardly the point of the post, but the definition linked does fit some posters on here. "An excessively loyal fan of a product and/or its company who blindly supports the every action of said product/company without question or reasoning." Maybe not in regards to Tressel, but I'd say the shoe fits some on here.
  9. History disagrees.
  10. It's too bad your degree from Hilltop High didn't teach you the ability to think critically, but instead be a blind follower.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, you were a huge Tressel fan boy when the process was going on. I like the idea of moving UA from the left to the right side of the napkin, but love how every single other public regional president called him out on his bullshit. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/05/university_presidents_say_university_of_akron_president_was_wrong_to_question_the_future_of_their_schools.html
  12. not sure if a joke or not, but
  13. This. Only the people who lose out complain. Plus Golson transferred because he wasn't good enough. It's not like he screwed ND. Could you imagine what it would be like if we didn't bring in our transfers? HS recruiting, even with the Bowden name and program improvement, has still been overall lackluster. I'd wager we would still be a 1 win/season program without our transfers over the years. It helps programs get out of that black hole. Sometimes guys transfer to other big name schools (see Russell Wilson). You can't have your cake and eat it too.
  14. Here are some high school highlights
  15. really don't care either way, but picking something and sticking with it would be nice.
  16. my point is that there is a 95% chance it's a bluff and I'm calling it. It's an excuse for Scarborough to get what he wants. I've stated my opinion all over this thread, that the amount of majors offered is over saturated and cuts need to be made. I am not in favor of some mass repositioning. Who is the last major state university to go "belly up"? I've honestly never heard of it. What about the cost of education? Didn't we just offer a deep discount on our gen Ed courses, you know courses that you spend nearly half of your time in college completing? To answer your last question, I am from Ohio and chose to go to Akron due to my major in a business related degree being ranked top 75ish nationally, being located in the most populated region of the state, and being less competitive than the school that everyone loves on here so much down in Columbus. It worked out pretty well for me. I had a great job waiting for me out of college and have had exposure to many well known corporations regionally as well as internationally.
  17. Well seeing how we are the only ones attempting to making a change, I will dread the day that Toledo, OU, BG, and Can't cease to exist.Psyche. Not going to happen. Hasn't anyone learned politicians are full of shit yet?
  18. Interesting read right here http://www.10thperiod.com/2015/05/should-university-of-akron-put-faith-in.html?m=1
  19. Well the event would have been last night if I'm not mistaken. Any word on how it went?
  20. Interesting that Dr. Z doesn't have any thoughts on this
  21. sheesh. these people are a joke.
  22. Here you are sir. 538 has some pretty interesting stuff. (Today I learned Lebron is the most clutch shooter of his generation, even though he is often referred to as a choke). http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/enough-already-about-the-job-hopping-millennials/
  23. I didn't realize they are playing Tennessee after us. They should be the real deal next season and the next few years. A lot of young talent. Hopefully we catch them overlooking us! Interesting that they see Pohl as our best offensive player when he may not even start. The sad part is, there is really nobody else to choose at this point.
  24. I'm a little shocked at the suspension. I would have figured if anything, one or two games. Just another weird suspension by Goodell. Apparently being indirectly involved in altering football air pressure is twice as bad as knocking your fiance out.
  25. Right. As far as I know Akron is in a similar position as the above mentioned, at least for the most part. Constantly expanding, enrollment at or near record highs, and quality of students as high as its ever been. I'm still waiting for somebody to explain to me why we need to be in this "survival mode" and what is going to happen if we aren't in it.
