  1. I mean the students broke attendance records numerous times a few years ago when the team was on the winning streak. That's all it really boils down to. Giving them something to watch that they feel is worth their time. We've never beaten anyone that anyone cares about, so it doesnt matter. We are on the longest winning streak in the nation and getting national recognition? Students went to the games. Play and beat some teams that student have heard of and they'll take note. Do it consistently and attendance will rise permanently. the 20 win/year streak is nice, but nobody gives a crap about it outside of the program because when you look at it, its with teams nobody has ever heard of and the MAC.
  2. TCU's offense with Boykin is fun to watch. Wouldn't mind seeing something like it with Chapman behind center.
  3. There's something to be said for being battle tested. I wouldn't be shocked at all if those teams were better than us this season.
  4. I think this is a pretty good point. If the bball program (or athletic department/president/etc), is content with where we are, why invest additional money? If KD is content with Akron and 20 win seasons and scheduling cupcakes every year, and losing in the 1st round of whatever tournament they are in, what's the point?I'm all for spending money if it's done with forward thinking in mind and makes sense.
  5. Not what I said or was implying at all. I just don't get caught up in crying for investing in a certain sport instead of "my" sport because I have some connection to the program or the other sport sucks. Just something that bothers me about the dynamic of this site. I root for all programs. Where's all the complaining about the on campus tennis courts just constructed? How much revenue has tennis ever brought into the U?
  6. As they should. He won them two championships and took them to 4 straight finals.
  7. You guys care way too much about where money is going that isn't yours. I guess that'll happen when people have agendas to push for each sport. As bad a football attendance is, its still averaged about 3x as much as soccer and basketball.
  8. Is seating capacity really such a huge issue? St. Mary's "arena" only holds 3500. Also, don't forget potential VIP seating/ getting rid of that stupid square design and going to bowl seating will also help. Simple economics...what happens when demand is greater than supply? I don't see how it would hurt the U at all. If we aren't building a new arena, then who really cares if only basketball and volleyball will be played there along with an occasional ceremony. I care a lot more about aesthetics and meeting the needs of the fans at the game than the number of fans it holds.
  9. The Score is nice. A nice little Akron pride feel to it. Edy's is awesome too. I don't think their business is too great though, but I really like what they've done with the place so far. (RIP Pints)
  10. It's too bad we will never have the chance to beat Mich St. in a non-conference game, and get paid to do it.
  11. I dont think Harney developed much, if at all as player, JMO. Talk about a ton of unrealized potential. I won't blame KD for that though. He can only do so much. But here is where you have to look at the quality of character of the guys he is bringing in. (FYI I am much more pleased with the past 2 classes).
  12. It's entertaining reading this board with the favorable/unfavorable bias that posters have to certain programs/coaches.
  13. Whenever I watch Auburn, it seems like they run about 4 different plays out of multiple formations. I cant complain assuming we have the personnel. Shows quite the confidence in the new QB and RB.
  14. My mistake. Glossed over his statement and missed your point since it was irrelevant to the topic being discussed.
  15. He is talking about greyshirts from last year's class (i.e Junius).
  16. I'm talking recruiting as a whole. He was the recruiting coordinator as well as inside WRs coach.
  17. Officiating impacts every game. Fans need to worry about things that are under our coaches and players control. Mentioning that 2 of 3 refs are from C-USA and then pointing out that one of those refs were making the questionable calls seems like a hint of blaming refs of some conspiracy theory to me. Complaining about refs seems to happen almost every single game on here.
  18. Dambrot is infamous for staying strong to his rotations rather than keeping hot hands in the game.
  19. The refs were out to get the Zips. Has to be it.
  20. Really disappointing to hear, but I give Dambrot/whoever else was involved in making the decision credit. I figure Tree had to be really close to graduation... I feel for him as I feel he is genuinely good person, but he has messed up a few times now, and ultimately we must all face the consequences of our actions. Tree, I know you do/have read Zipsnation. If you're reading this, thank you for all of your hard work on the court and I wish you the best in the future. As tough as it may be, take what you can from this incident and use it to make you a better person. Good luck.
  21. I'd be happy with doing it once. Thanks for sharing again, Dr. Z. You're on a roll today. FWIW- I think Chryst isn't the best hire Wisconsin could/should make.
  22. thank for sharing Dr. Z. Very informative. Always enjoy listening to Coach Bowden speak/
  23. You play the best player. Don't care if its a true freshman or a 5th year senior. Kincade was a lot better caliber of recruit than Pohl. Totally feasible that he is better. Pohl started the year alright. Even if Bowden thought Kincade could be better later in the season, there is no reason to burn his redshirt that late. For the two examples you just gave, I could match you every single time where a younger player was played over an older one and it worked out great. Manziel and Winston both won Heisman's as redshirt freshman's. Winston has yet to lose a game in his career. Its a good thing Jimbo didn't go with the older guys. Same with Sumlin, he'd probably be fired by now if he didnt play Manziel. Obviously those are a different caliber of players than we have, but they were also competing and beating out similar caliber players.
  24. valid point. I personally have no opinion on it. Just thought it was worth mentioning. See the positives and negatives.
