#TeamOhio just won another national championship this year.

It may be narrow minded and there are obviously exceptions, but stats prove it is largely true. I can't find the article and it is a different sport, but I remember reading that a large majority of programs that make a bowl game also do the next season/did the prior season. I think its a safe bet that its also the case for college basketball in regards to the NCAA tournament. You said it yourself. If Hurley doesn't take the job, its because there are other options. Because DePaul isn't that attractive of an option (if you're concerned with factors other than money and your goal is to be a top college coach).

Paying any money to host a women's NIT game doesn't seem like a smart financial decision to me.

Do you view Rutgers or Fordham as attractive jobs? You can bring up conference and location all you want, but a shitty program is a shitty program. There's a very low chance you are going to take a bad program in a good conference and win.Therefore not a smart move. I'd rather make a career decision more on absolutes than what-ifs. Leaving Ohio for Illinois is a smart move. Leaving Buffalo for Depaul isn't, in my eyes.

I don't know if Williams was even as good as some are making him out to be. Williams was smart, was a leader, and had extensive familiarity with the system. That's about where it ends. He had obvious physical limitations such as mobility and arm strength, and even with as bad as our defense was, we still only won one game (zero against FBS competition). You don't need defense to win in the MAC. Hence the term "MACtion". With that said, I feel all of our QBs that have played since then have been more talented than him, but just not the leadership or smarts.

I think thats the only way he should leave with the exception of some elite "mid-majors". The DePaul's and Bradley's of the world aren't really worth leaving for and taking the risk. IMO.

So they took it down a month and most of us die-hards didn't even know. That right there speaks for itself how dumb it was in the first place. (I believe I called it too).

I think he has already been linked to the DePaul job. Buffalo better pay up if they want to keep him. They just hired a D3 football coach. Hopefully they didn't overpay him and not leave money for anyone else.

Everyone knew their defense/the loss of our PG would be a problem, but thats only part of the game. Many were bringing up counters to it/ how our size would be an advantage/etc. I went back and read the 1st 10 pages of the game thread. (Deji, Walsh, and Pat were last minute issues by the way, not at the time of the draw). Their was a lot more optimism than you two are making it out to be. Of course plenty of realistic opinions of saying there wasn't really a chance either. Don't forget, we were supposed to be a pretty damn good team that year. Even without our starting PG, we dominated a pretty damn good senior laden OU team fresh off of a sweet 16 run the prior year.

Nice effort by Buffalo. A better one than we ever had. I hope they can keep Hurley for a while. Would be great for the conference.

My bad on the comprehension fail. As for your bottom sentence, that's pretty much where I am. Obviously no Mike Thomas, who Dr. Z posted, but could also be a lot worse than he is. If I had to grade him, it would be a C with the potential of a B depending if Bowden ever gets over the hump. Most likely B when factoring in all sports, and because Bowden is going to get the program to at least an above .500 point.

You enjoyed watching us win one game? Zero against FBS competition? Over going .500 in OOC, a win over a P5 program at their place (and playing Penn State tough as well), and being in the running for the MAC championship up until the last few weeks of the season?

Can't really argue with that.
