  1. That's what I was thinking, too.
  2. I am going to place so much money on the Zips that the line will gradually shift, a point a day, so that by "gameday" the line will be even
  3. I didn't see the game, but that is very cool! I'll bet it was pretty special for Reggie to play in his home town.
  4. So perhaps this reporter isn't exactly on top of Zip football. It's a nice story of reward for effort nonetheless. Do you think it's possible Tyler or someone else accidentally mentioned a scheme change to this guy but the details got screwed up somehow?
  5. Top 40 baby! We're in the BIG D-1!!!
  6. Here's a Leakin' story as well.Linky
  7. "Spy" shot! Looks like we might be running a HIGHLY unorthodox 33-33-5 defense LinkBTW the cams are BACK on line.
  8. Is there a trick play JD can concoct to take advantage of a LONG SNAPPER'S insane vertical?
  9. The GoZips article (link) points out a few players who were lauded by Dan Bailey for their workout efforts over the summer.LinkyI'm starting to think that James Harvey might be a major contributor in 2009. The roster has him at 6'4" 290 LB now, and if he's been a beast in the weight room (as implied by Bailey's observations) then he could make huge gains on the field. He played pretty well before hurting his arm last year. Maybe with the coaches being cautious with Bain, he (Ryan) becomes more of a situation player, at least until (or if) he ever gets to be 100%.A couple of other notes from the article. Bruce must be more or less healthy, since Bailey singled him out as well. AND as we figured, the web cams will be turned off today during practice (as they will for all practices).
  10. It looks like they may have ended it. The site now has a "cut off" line. We only missed it by 7!!! 13.6% is awesome.
  11. Ouch, can't believe I missed that one... There wont be allot of drama but there will be allot of fun...There won't be a lot of people at the game using the word allot either. Some of us here at Zips Nation may not know the difference between then and than and a few of us have trouble telling the difference between to, too, and two, but none of us are from Buffalo, Canada and we thank our lucky stars for that allot. Somewhat low class to take such a pot shot but whatever floats your boat..I think "the meister" is bucking to be "volunteer" editor of Mac-Smack
  12. #59 after a night's work Great job, ZipsNation!!
  13. Great tip! Thanks!!Ahhh the advantage of having a school name that starts at the beginning of the alphabet I got even lazier - I lined up Forde's vote with Akrons check box, then after the vote is over I use Alt-f, Alt-x to get rid of the voting window so now I don't even use the mouse (and I made the IE window very thin so its not obvious what I'm doing if someone come in). I'm averaging about one vote very 10 seconds. Glad I wasn't real busy today and that my Akron Compter Science education is really paying off. Take that Northwestern! Soccer revenge!
  14. Great tip! Thanks!!Ahhh the advantage of having a school name that starts at the beginning of the alphabet
  15. I've noticed that the TOTALS are going up like crazy in the last 10-15 minutes. We're holding our position, but the % is slipping. Maybe your bot theory has credence. Is it a BCS BOT?
  16. Why is the theme song to "The Jefferson's" playing in my head?
  17. Oh yeah! The ghosts of the Capital One 2007 Mascot race have arisen!!
  18. That must be why approximately 30,000 Akron fans took the trip to Detroit in 2005 Here's a novel idea. There is NOTHING to prevent a team in FBS to voluntarily step down to FCS if they really want the glory of playing for the FCS championship. I wonder why not one single school has chosen to to this? If the current economic conditions make this more attractive to some, so be it. Let THEM decide. One thing is for certain. There is no way The University of Akron will go down to FCS without a legal fight. Dr. Proenza hasn't made the decision to invest $61 million in a facility to play in the FCS.
  19. First of all, read the question again. Teacher must have loved writing "read the instructions" all over your test papers. There have been 11 BCS championship games, three of which have had Big 10 representation. 3/11 = 27.3%. Hmmm not so "good" chances in my way of thinking. The MAC champ typically plays in the Motor City (renamed this year?....see other thread), not the International Bowl.Miami was never undefeated with Ben. In 2003 they were ranked #10 at the end of the season, but lost to Iowa in the opener. HAD they gone undefeated, they just might have played in a BCS game (though not the national championship).
  20. I'll ignore the condescending tone for now, because I'm onto your juvenile games. But I'll ask you this question. Do you mean to tell me that, during seasons in which Penn State is out of the running for the BCS Championship, that the Little 11 Championship means NOTHING to you???
  21. OK psu1, up until now things have been pretty civil and reasonable between most of the Zip and Lion fans. And then you, MR. DOUCHEBAG, have the nerve to come onto OUR board and tell us that we have NOTHING to play for and there is no POINT to our struggles. Up yours!!! What an arrogant, foolish, unknowledgable opinion you have spewed. What is a school like UA supposed to do with a $61 million investment in a new stadium if blowhards like you get your wish? Gloves are off.
  22. Zach, that's why I'm thinking. Akron is going to definitely have to have a varied offensive scheme to get the W. Run on pass downs, pass on run downs. The big unknown to me is team speed. As a Penn State fan, I like to think our front 7 will punish the Zips and disrupt their entire offensive scheme. But, I am trying to consider all possibilities, so enjoy kicking around how Akron may pull off the upset. On the other hand, I'm thinking the Penn State offense will lean heavily towards the run, in order to give our O-linemen a chance to get settled in.Akron's strength last season, save for a few too many high shotgun snaps, was the play of the big, deep and pretty talented O-Line. They only lose one (albeit a good one in Kemme) in 2009 so expectations are high this year too. Can they hold up to the strength, speed, and talent of the PSU front 7 all game? That's the key question here, but IMHO they don't have to dominating or play a "perfect" game. They just need to give Jacq enough time on enough occasions, spring Allen/Martin/Torrence free a few times to keep the Lions honest, and avoid giving up too many sacks/holding penalties. I think they're good enough to do that, thereby placing the fate of the Zip offense in the right arm of Jacq. If he takes enough advantage of the opportunities that are presented, the Zips will probably score more points than the any of the locals expected. What concerns me most about PSU's offense is that even if the revamped Zip defense IS markedly better against the run with the new talent (Bain, the "Tonganator", Henderson, etc) and LB coach/secret weapon (former Illinois DC Vince Okruch), there is still the task of containing Clark if things break down. We all know how elusive QB's have killed the Zips in recent years. Obviously, I hope we can make Clark try to beat us with his arms and legs. It beats the slow, methodical form of torture we've had to deal with lately. Finally, whoever wins the PK job (Igor or Branko) simply MUST come through when called upon. Sure we'll need to score TD's to have a shot, but we can't squander points either. Stec will have to punt his butt off too. He seems to play better in these kind of games, though.
  23. Sounds a little like the Blundering Turd to me
  24. Come on Zip fans, we're getting drilled on there!! Let's fight back
