I just called the ticket office to find out why I have not received my season tickets. It seems that they ran out of parking passes and had to have more printed. I should have my packet by Wednesday

I thought it was great todya. I spoke with JD & Paul Hammond (Associate AD for Facilities & Operations). They both thanks for coming. The players were great. Some were on the rrof of the North end zone signing autographs & others were down on the field interacting with the kids. It was awe inspiring walking in at 11:00 with many other people. The excitement has building and will continue to build, right up to that first kick-off. The university and community should be very proud of this new structure. BRING ON MORGAN STATE!!

My wife and I received the invite this week and after doing the open house todya, we decide that we would be attending the party. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Also, as someone alluded to earlier, welcome to big time football!

yes, but I live on the west of Akron. Why aren't they here yet?
-
Still waiting for our tickets to arrive But we're going to the open house this morning. so I'll try get get some infomation then.

They have been drawing 6,000-7,000 for Hoban/SVSM. They are expecting approx. 10,000 for this years game.
-
For the Hoban /SVSM game those gate receipts will be split between the 2 schools. The Akron City games gate will be kept by the district. The university will keep all concessions monies.

Section 110, row 5, seats 1 & 2

Why would they? They wont be playing there....Well, I think something is in place to help change all that.I believe some local area marching bands will be playing on the field at the Info. This will put HS students on the field and their families and friends in the stands... and it could be planting the seeds of buzz spreading among those age-groups.All of these hs games are at Summa Field: Hoban/SVSM 9/18, Kenmore/North 9/25, Ellet/Firestone 10/2, Firestone/North 10/9, Firestone/Garfield 10/16, East/North 10/23 & Buchtel/Garfield 10/30.

I personally think too much is being made about nothing. Those of you that are complaing about Tressel are thinned skinned. You are probably the first ones to blame a loss on a blown call by a referee rather than looking at the enitre game. You remind me of the people in Cleveland back in the 70's & 80's complaing because they were the butt of comedian's jokes. Lighten up and enjoy life and especially enjoy the fact that a book WAS written about Zips football.

Evan Bush signs with Cleveland City Stars
akronad replied to Johnny Utah's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Read an article in the PD yesterday that the team is up for sale. They took the team up a division and then the head coach left and took several of the key players with him. For the team to stay in their current division, they need a new owner by Sept. 1. The Stars are trying to get an extension. They have talked to 2 or 3 groups about buying the team and will speak with another potential buyer this week.Worse case scenario is that the team will be relegated to a lower division. -
I find the use of Canal Park an intriguing idea. However, the field is not ready to play until April 1. Also, the facility is under the ouwner ship of the City. When the Aero's are not playing, the City can let or rent it to anyone they see fit. They would continue to permit a weekend of Akron Public Schools games as well as the Hoban/SVSM game and the City Series championship. There would need to be lots of coordination of schedules, but it could be done.

High school games will be limited to major events. They want to emphasize that the Info is the University of Akron's stadium, not the city's.Hoban/SVSM on 9/18, then the Akron City Schools will play there on the next 6 Friday nights. Basically the same format as at the RB. the University also wants to highlight and make use of the facility as much as possible. It is and will continue to be a major recruiting tool.

There will be no problem with lighting at Summa Field. They have 2 settings. The first is for overcast days and the second for night games. The candle power of the lights exceeds what is requested by networks. As far as 3 or 5 light stanchions is concerned, does it really matter? as long as the lights are not in front of the stands and can provide enough candle power, than I really don't have any concerns. Actually after watching games at the RB for 50 years, I'm not going to know what to do without a stanchion getting in my way. LOL

I'll be there with my DSLR as well. since I work in the downtown area, I'll just buzz over there after work.

I was talking to my neighbor last night who is in the landscaping business, and I asked him about how long it would take for the sod to root. If it was done properly, with staples, it should be taking root in 3 weeks. So, in 6 weeks, it should be in darn good shape.
-
Looks like sod to me

I'm getting the jumptv page as well.I will be keeping an open mind to the changes to the teamshop. I am hoping that they add many new items to their inventory.
-
They will use the lockerroom at the field house to dress. They will then proceed to the lockerroom/meeting room in the north end of the stadium. That is where they will meet and spend half time.
-
[speaking of staffing for the stadium...has anyone seen any ads(I personally have not seen squat) hiring for stadium help, concessions or anything? I am curious to see how they are going to run this massive operation? The concessions are run by a private company, I can't remeber their name at this moment. (Old Timers Disease). Outside security will continue to be handled by Hall Security. Inside security, ushers, tiket takers, etc. are the same people that they have used at the Bowl & JAR.
-
It will probably be housed in Canton, along with the Inventors HOF.

If UA had any marketing senseThat's the problem, no marketing sense.
-
TIME OUT!There really is a marketing dept? I just thought I was having a bad dream.
-
Marketing missed a golden opportunity to promote Infocision the last 2 weeks in downtown Akron. Last weekend was the Italian Festival, which drew in excess of 50,00 people over the weekend, and the Hamburger Festival just concluded, which attracted roughly 20,000 people. At the Italian Festival, there was a gozips.com tent but no one manning the table with any literature or other information. This weekend there was no one in sight to promote anything. Obviously, marketing must feel they can get more bang for their buck, by using billboards rather than a good old-fashioned one on one conversation/sales pitch.
