OK, I havn't listened to the radio, read any news reports or read any other posts on ZNO. I wanted to wait until this morning when my head wasn't swimming. If, I'm repeating anything that has already been posted, my humblest apologies. ICoach is in over his head.It began at the coin toss when we chose to kick after winning the toss. After it was announced ICoach was in a heated discussion with the officials. I'm sure he wasnted the captains to defer, but they chose to kick. On third and 1 in the first quarter he calls for a pass when the running game was working. What's up with that? Where our seats are located, we have excellent look at the Zips sideline. If all remeber, the first time-out called in each half was called by ICoach as he was sprinting down the sideline to the official. In the 1st half, 2 plays later GW scored and in the 2nd half it was the play immediately after the time out that GW scored. At the start of the 4th quarter, I turned to my wife and told her that we going to lose. The body language of most of the players showed that they were a defeated team. On a bit of a seperate area, the officials s****d. Where were these guys from? Any college football fan knows that they cannot review a call on forward motion. Yes, we got screwed on that call. We will be lucky to win a game this season. And we will be very lucky to reach that magical 15,000 mark for attendance as dictated by the NCAA. I will be there Oct.2 and still cheer on the Zips.

Although I like the selections,we will Icoach around for at least 2 years and probably 3.

My crystal ball is still a bit tarnish, with an orangy substance, but I can make out enough of out line to predict Zips 17 GW 3. Defense, again will carry the day. Offense will figure out things somewhat and score 10 pts. The defense will return an intrception for a TD. GO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!

Hey Capt.! Are you in Lot 9. We were in 14 last year, and they moved us to 9 this year.
-
Personally,I love the fact that Sampson left. Joyce talks about the kid being recruited to play there. That's like the pot calling the kettle black.
-
Well, I guess it time to support a QB. Nicely will be taking the snaps. I thought this might be the case, only because Rogers had to came back from a majr injury. Now that we have nanmed a starting QB, it is time to start getting ourselves ready for 'Cuse. GO ZIPS!!!!

CD/Game Exchange Being Torn Down
akronad replied to tbozeglav's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
Better than an abandoned building. What I really want to see open up somewhere on campus is a place like this. Unique idea, and perfect for college students. I love the concept, but to own a franchise is a $250,000 to $300, 000 propostiion. -

Thanks. DW & I will probably make that, but it is still not the same as a golf outing. Even though I haven't participated in previous outings, I had put aside time for this year's. So, CK if you are going have an outing, count me in.

Akron Tailgate Lot Priority Policy
akronad replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
For me it will be big move. DW & I have supported UA athletics for 40 years and bee n fb season ticket holders for 25 yrs. Last year we purchsed priority reserve tickets and our assigned parking lot was #14, which is right next to the Alumni office. I call and complained to no avail & grudgingly parked and tailgated there all season. I just hope that I will have the opportunity to tailgate with most of you this season. -
WOW!! Nice job Spin. I only read a few words at the beginning and I knew immediately that it had to be Jake. I won;t lowere myself to his level. However, I have been associated with the U of A in one shape or form for over 40 years. It has grown and changed and will continue to do so, and will continue to connect thru the Polsky building, which is a part of the campus, contrary to what Jake might think.\ GOOOO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D.J. Cooper...Better than LeBron James?
akronad replied to UAZip0510's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Is DJ a better player than LeBron at the same age? No way in hell!!!!!!!! Is DJ a better college player than LeBron? Absolutely. -
I couldn't agree more. That part of the marketing dept. sucks. I could do a much better job with 3 kids from a local high school's marketig program than what the U is doing.

I just love the fans around here. If we win, the team played great & the coaching was fantastic. If we lose it is always the same old story; "WE GOT SCREWED BT THE REFS". I agree the some refs re lousy and others are good, but ref's just don't go out on the floor or field with the attitude of trying to screw a particular team. Let's face, we were lucky, yes lucky to even it make it to the championship game.

For me, I want to go to the dance. But, if for some reason we don't make it, the NIT will be a great stage for the Zips. For those that are pushing aside the NIT, we just have to go back a few seasons when the Zips were banked out of the NCAA by Miami. We all thought, OK, but we will get an NIT bid. Well we didn't. Tell me, how did you feel that day knowing that the Zips, a good team, were not going to play in any post season tournament? It was like a punch in the stomach to be and still sits in my craw, since I still think that we got hosed royally. So let's hoped for the best, but if we don't run the table in Cleveland next week , we can still play in the NIT. BUT, it all starts with Friday night. GO ZIPS

Look at the bright side, we have 6 home games. There are 5 MAC schools that have only 5 home games (Miami,BG, CMU,EMU,& NIU) Also, people are complaining about 2 weeknight game, when in reality it is just the Miami game (Wed. night) that is a true weeknight game. The Buffalo game is the Friday after Thanksgiving, so there should be plenty of people attending. This is a tough schedule, but I think some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.
-
Same here. We are leaving on 11/16 and returning 11/27. I will still get 5 good tailgating dates in. 4 at home and the Can't shellacking.
-
I already returned my renewal. The longer it sits in my house, the better the chances are that it will disappear. Also, after all of these years, isn't great to be looking forward to 6 home games? I knw we had 6 last year, but with the MAC and OOC games you never know how the schedule will fall. Looking forward to a great season. Go Zips!

There was more Akron stuff in the Team shop a coule years ago then there is now. What we have now is absolutey pathetic. DW and I bought hoodies fro footloacker at Summit mall for $25. The selection is practically nil and the prices are not competitive.

As a retired soccer referee, I thought the game was called fairly. Could some of yellows have been non-yellows and some of the non-yellows been yellows? Absolutely, but what we see from the stands or the TV screen is totally different than what is actually occuring on the field. That being said, I would have preferred to have had the referee from Friday's game as the main man on Sunday. I thought he did a much better job of controlling the players than Sunday's official.I don't think you'll ever see the NCAA go away from PK's. I believe it was the late 80's or early 90's when a championship game was finally decided after 7 OT periods.

Capt.-I agree. In fact that is what one person told me from the Athletic Dept. Tehy were losing money on the bowl game, but the natinal exposeure was basically a 3 1/2 commercial. They thought it was great.

DW & I will be in attendance!Gooooooooooooooo Zips!

They did an edited version for today.
