  1. Just got back from lot 34. Unless something changes, that's where we will be.
  2. I'm sure it will happen, but not for at least another 8-10 yrs. It is and will continue to be used as a swing space bldg. during renovations to the other high schools.
  3. Not exactly. U of A keeps all concession monies and when games were played at RB, they kept all parking monies as well. APS keeps gate, but pays will pay in excess of $25,000 for 6 games at Infocision.
  4. That property is still owned by the Akron Schools. There are ongoing negotiations in regards to using that lot.
  5. I am beginning to see that this going to get a bit ugly. I spoke with the Asst. AD for faciltiies & operations 18 months ago and mentioned this to him, and all he did was roll his eyes. I am finding it very difficult for the U of A to not have thought about or given consideration to the tailgaters. It is an american way of life when it comes to football games. It looks as though they might have dropped the ball on this situation.
  6. Don't count to getting the Central-Hower Building for at least another 7-8 yrs. It is currently being used as a swing school for other schools that are being rebuilt.
  7. My experiences with interim anything is they don't last. What I mean is the odds are stacked against Hunter being named the permanent AD and if he were named to the position the odds are even longer that he succeeds. I have nothing against Hunter and if becomes the man, then great. I would only hope that he would bring some stability to that position and bring in someone that really knows something about marketing.
  8. If you read the article, Hunter seems to have done the lwg work on this issue.
  9. They probably flooded the roof with water to see if there were any leaks going thru the ceiling. This is done all the time with flat roof structures.
  10. Let's take a look at what's on the outside. I am not a big fan of the "next rising star". I would like someone that is willing on stay on for while. If we can't find anyone on the outside, we can then look to Hunter.

  12. Plenty of priority reserved left. Aisle seats have been going quickly, but still alot to choose from.
  13. Again, I agree with your thinking. However, construction for East has already begun and will be ready for students in12 months. Ideally, East should have never been rebuilt. Unfortuantely, we ahve to get past that.I happened to drive past that Perkins st. sire this morning and that might just be a good location for a new arena. Finding an excellent location near the heart of the University is going to be tough.
  14. b-mann: I agree with eveyrthing you said about APS. However, they cannot and could not have sold Central-Hower simply because it is being used a swing school while other high schools are be renovated. Don't expect that site ti be available for another 9-10 yrs.
  15. Section 110, Row 5, seats 1 & 2. I wanted something upstairs, but the wife preferred the lower level. You can see who won that dispute.
  16. I pick tomorrow at 10:45. I hope there will be some seats left. LOL.
  17. The selection of seats began this week and goes thru the end of next week. the picture was taken yesterday (tuesday) at 10:00. That means only the pins only represent about 1 days worth of selectin.
  18. Help. My tailgating canopy just took a big dump. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a Akron canopy or could have a canopy silk screened. Thanks for your help.
  19. I'm with you CK. That's the first thing I noticed when I saw this schedule yesterday. It would be great to defeat the Hoosiers in Futbol at Jackson Field on Friday and then defeat them in Football at Summa Field on Saturday. That night will be a busy one on campus. Hoban & SVSM will be playing in the annual matchup at Infocision that night as well.
  20. You're correct that the JAR was a mistake. When they were not awarded the convocation style arena (which went to CSU), they rushed head long into putting the JAR together. NOw, we are stuck with a white elephant, and can only hope for the City or some other benfactor to partner up with the U of A for an arena.
  21. The first Akron Citry Series game will be on Friday, 9/25. The university does not want any games played there prior to the opener.
  22. Sorry to disappoint you guys, but as I stated b4, ONLY d-3 schools DO NOT give scholarships. FCS. Although, there are some leagues (Patriot & Ivy League) that do not allow schoalrships for football.Scholarships: Division-I FBS schools (except the service academies) are allotted a total of 85 players receiving financial assistance. For competitive reasons, and due to the fact that a student on partial scholarship counts fully against the total of 85, virtually all FBS schools award full scholarships. Division I FCS schools are currently allotted financial assistance amounting to a total of 63 full scholarships. Unlike those in FBS, FCS institutions may give partial assistance; they have no limit as to the overall number of players receiving such. There are also several FCS schools (mid-major) that offer no football scholarships or grants.
  23. The only division that does not offer scholarships is D-3. They are offered grants in aid. The other divisions are dtermined by the number of schoalrships that are issued, practice time, spring practice and number of spring practices are among the determinants.
