  1. AH! We are beginning to see a separation between the true fans and the ones that will only support a winning program. I knew it would come to this.
  2. A shame that this coach drove off a student/athlete like that Do you know that ICoach drove him away or is it speculation.
  3. http://akronnewsnow.com/sports/itemdetail....er_Leaves_Zips_ National Award Winner Leaves Zips 10/18/2010 1:13:31 PM | Joe Jastrzemski, AkronNewsNow.com A surprise announcement from University of Akron head coach Rob Ianello. During his weekly concerence call with reporters and broadcasters from around the Mid-American Conference Monday morning, Ianello announced that running back LeVon Morefield had quit the team. If Morefield's name sounds familiar to Zip fans, it should. Morefield was the winner of last year's Rudy Award, which honors the FBS college football player who best embodies the principles of inspirational football legend Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, who played at Notre Dame. After winning the award as a walk-on, Ianello says that he gave Morefield a scholarship for winning the national 'Rudy' award. Ianello did not provide any more details concerning Morefield or why he left the team. The Zips play the Western Michigan Broncs this coming Saturday afternoon at InfoCision Stadium.
  4. First of all, I am neither a supporter or detractor for Icoach. Contrary, to what many of you believe, the cupboard was not as well stocked as we were led to believe. On top of that, 23 players have left the team since the departure of JD. You add to the snowball by changing bith offensive and defensive schemes. And add to that the fact that you starting QB is not a prostyle qb and was recruited to lead a spread offense. All of this adds up to a major disaster for this season. Although I am disappointed, I am looking at the future and hoping things will improve for next year. DW & I will be at the game on Saturday! Will you?
  5. I have to agree with Dave & Keener. I also was willing to give PN the benefit of the doubt, but after watching Saturday's debacle, I really believe we need to get Rogers in at QB,if he is healthy. I can't believe that he would be any worse than what we have seen thru the first half of the season.
  6. Heading out the door now for the game. I hope to see some of you there. Go zips!!
  7. If you read the article in its entirety, will not have seen once that U of A purchsed or has pruchased the bldg. In fact, Plasma might still retain that bldg. for additional office space that they need.
  8. Please Read. http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/104569824.html
  9. For all of you true die-hard Zip fans, DW & I will be at Can't tomorrow. I have a red Saturn SUV, so stop by and say hello. The weather is going to be great and the Zips will prevail.
  10. Please read this: http://www.ohio.com/sports/104470834.html I believe that this team still has heart. Will they win the MAC East this year? Definitely not, but I still think we will surprise a few people. And I am going out on a limb with my prediction for this week. Akron 31 Can't 27
  11. I just got my tickets at our box office. GA, $5.00 for season ticket holders.
  12. This years team might be experienced, but I would have to disagree with you on the fact of being talented. They have played for 1 -3 or more years with a losing program, and with just an exception or 2, there are NO outstanding players on this team. Some of you might say differently, but looked at the records of not just this year, but the last few years.
  13. And here's the story that was published on Ohio.com today. Ripper Owens to relaunch Tap House restaurant on Waterloo Road October 5, 2010 by jim Leave a Comment Filed under: Dining, Featured 2 Tagged with Ripper Owens (former Lead Singer of Judas Priest and current solo artist) has partnered with restaurateur Randy Arehart to relaunch the current Tap House on Waterloo Road in Akron. The change happens on Oct. 16 when the restaurant becomes a “rockin sports eatery” named “Ripper Owens Tap House.” The restaurant remains open while currently serving thousands a week during the transformation into a Rock-n-Roll sports museum. The restaurant has retained the services chef Jay Saulsberry, who has helped in the process of re-designing a family friendly menu with a strong emphasis on serving a high volume lunch and dinner crowd. With the combination of the rock and sports memorabilia, the guests will be encouraged to take a tour of the new Ripper Owens Tap House and to join the trademarked “World Tour of Wings
  14. As much as I hate to say, we are that bad. I have been a fan for over 40 yrs. and the last 3-4 years have probably been the most frustrating I have ever been through. But, DW & I will be in the parking lot at Dix stadium late Saturday morning to cheer on the Zips.
  15. When the JAR was built, it was also a PE facility. That is why the track is in place. The blfg. was to take the place of Memorial Hall.
  16. Outstanding.... No way in hell!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I know many you don't think of ICoach. I'm still undecided. But, I think we don;t have the talent that most of you think we have. Especially on D. I was speaking with a local sports reporter last night that was at the game as a fan and not covering the game and he echoed the same thoughts. Also, the players ICoach is recruiting are not the same type or caliber thatJD was recruiting. I hate the cliche of biulding, but how many of you believe the cupboard wasn;t as full as we were led to believe?
  18. Thanks for the video. I have been involved with the game for over 25 years as a parent, coach and official. As an official, that was the easiest call I've ever seen an official have to make. It was a no brainer. Red card. That simple. That piece of video would be excellent tool for trianing officials.
  19. I agree with what you say, except for the part about not being critical. It's critical that they learn from this mistake (up a goal and a player). They need to take from this and move closer to the true goal of a national championship.
  20. the only thing the zips learned is "dont except to get ANY calls when you play the Buckeyes" Yes, there were no penalty kicks awarded to the Zips or red cards doled out to the Buckeyes. We played a lousy game, get over it. Spoken like someone who wasn't there. This wasn't a loosely officated game, this was a case of the Buckeyes pushing us around and when we attempted to push back WE GOT whistled and/or carded. The red card was one of the most blatant acts of unsportsmanlike conduct i've ever witnessed and to be honest, two of their players should have been ejected from that as another one took a swing at one of our players. Like i said before, anyone that was there saw how bad it was. So... you're blaming the officials for losing the game? Not likely! They might have made calls, but did Akron play a perfect match? NO. Now, we need to move on to tomorrow night's match and not worry about what happened last night.
  21. Teams are only as "dirty" as the officlas let them. Like basketball, some officials, call a tight game and whistle every little thing. Whereas, other officials, will call the game loosely, and not blow the whistle until someone has gotten royally mugged. Neither is a position that I condone. However, this is the "human element" to the game and unless someone can come with a better way, we have to let those that play and officiate continue.
  22. Zips 24 NIU 23. Igor kicks the winning field goal as time expires to redeem himself from the GW debacle.
  23. My hats off to the Zip's. Think about how great things have been and will continue to be. We lost nothing last night. It is a wake up call to everyone on the team, players and coaches. And playing in front of 7,000 fans is fantastic. it doesn't matter if it is OSU or anyone else, that is a fantastic crowd for a week night match. Again, congrat's to the soccer team, and let's continue the road to the Championship.
  24. Capt. , I couldn't agree more. It is pretty darn bad that my wife would rather just tailgate than watch the game. BTW, was that playing catch with yoour daughter ysterday? We were set-up right acroos from with the red Saturn SUV.
