  1. i entirely agree. Maybe we need a stricter band where the weak can be cut. We may have a smaller band for a while but sooner or later people will notice a higher quality product and want to come be a part of it. And maybe, just maybe it can be something on the same level as the Tennessee Pride of the Southland Band, the Marching 110, the USC Trojan band, or the 2nd Best Band in the Land (suckeyes).
  2. I'm sorry but it is true, the band does truly suck. At least in the past 15 years that i've been around. Have you ever been to a game with Ohio U's "Marching 110"? Now that's a real college band, perhaps the best in the country. But even if you havn't im sure you all have seen Ohio States band, USC's, Tennessee's. They are all LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than ours and that is no slight, it's just the truth.no slight, but you wouldn't know the truth in this matter if hit slaped you in the headnot my gf here, it's actually me...but actually the truth hits me and everyone in attendance right in the head every game when our band sloppily marches onto the field and into the stands. I'm sorry but i just dont see them being very good at all, and i'm the average fan who knows very little about the band. And i'm the one who matters more than the geeky kid who knows the difference between a high step and a military march or whatever. I'm not trying to offend you, i just am stating the truth.
  3. I am on my boyfriends account but i would just like to add something. I was in the 110 for 3 years(I do attend akron now) and disagree with what you are saying. People in the 110 do not have an advantage for being in together, as new freshmen come in just the same as with Akron. With the 110, freshmen have only 3 days to get used to the unique marching style as well as learn the music. They then have an additional 2-3 days to learn entire pregame and a halftime show (which changes completely every single week). I give Akron credit for trying, the sound that can be produced for songs like the fight song sound great. Although when it comes to using the music on the field and not really moving too much for the show is kind of disappointing. The marching style of the 110 is extremely difficult and while it can affect the sound slightly (mainly from some freshmen still learning) it does not affect the sound enough to say that Akron is better. It is far simpler to stand or lowstep and play, but 110 actually is louder, regardless of the marching style. I know there are many bands that are far worse than Akron, i believe there are many things that need to be changed and worked on to improve the band. Again, i'm not trying to say that they are horrible, because when they know what they are doing (like the fight song) they sound great.
  4. i agree, we could have scored 10+ honestly as it was. We missed a few opportunities, really turned down the pressure, and played mostly reserves and still made them look like they didn't belong on the same field. What a nice night to watch an event and what another fun night at the Jack.
  5. well then, you people better be at the game tonight,Saturday and the remaining two home games so we can be extra loud and get those wins to better ensure an 8 in RPI or better.

  7. I'm just gonna say it right now...We WILL win at least 7 games this year. There, now i can truly say ive said it every year.
  8. i love willie, and whenever he gets on the mic i get goosebumps. he's got the right voice for it. the thing is all 4th quarter bgsu fans were way louder than us which may or may not have helped their rally. i also loved how willie called out everybody who was already heading out the door even before the game was over. Will is one of the most passionate Zips fans you will ever see. He can inspire fans like no other. When Will gets on that microphone and basketball and football games and does that, i get pretty rowdy. But when I have been drinking heavily for hours before hand AND he does that...I GET BELLIGERENT, go nuts, and scream every play. And I'm not the only one. I would say there are very few people that dont enjoy his rallying.
  9. I agree, what an embarrassment of a game. I have never been so ashamed of this team. They have the talent, they just wont execute and I can't help but blame a coaching staff that runs questionable plays and critical times, and apparently has no will to keep scoring points but is content with playing it safe and blowing leads.
  10. exactly, and i feel exactly like the guy who originally posted this. THEY ARE LOSERS. Embarrassing loss and embarrassing coaching effort.
  11. so you kept away from those products that contained alcohol? Mouthwashes i mean of course.
  12. im guessing that you are probably right. Though from what i read it said that "The opening weekend with two first rounds has already showed, that some teams have succeeded signing decent foreigner(American) players, but then there are players who are out of shape or don't belong into top level of Finnish Basketball. Kataja (Joensuu) is one Team, that is satisfied with Jeremiah Wood..."that seems like a shot at Wood. Or is it just their bad english?
  13. this is great news, i hope he busts out and proves all of his haters wrong.
  14. IM FURIOUS. If this is entirely true (and it's no surprise to me) then this is horribly unfair to this young man. As if the NCAA doesn't screw up enough things as it was, they go and screw us and Ryan here.
  15. AMEN, at the game Saturday is was getting a bit annoyed with the "we want rogers" chants. When receivers start catching the balls that Chris throws them and he still gets as many incompletions and INT's, then i will be worried. He has looked fairly good overall and has been hurt by awful handed receivers.
  16. hey, now the season is officially a success as far as im concerned. Glad that place out east got put in their place
  17. cant is a dump where bad smelling hippies are running around everywhere with Obama shirts....wait what were we doing again?
  18. let's see torrence i say
  19. Zips - 48Cant - 7no need to explain because Can't state just plain sucks
  20. I thought we beat #25 Marshall in the Rubberbowl during Frye's tenure? That was a conference team though, nevertheless it would have been HUGE to win yesterday.
  21. No we CAN blame the officials. We missed opportunities yes, but we also had opportunities crushed by AWFUL/TERRIBLE/QUESTIONABLE/UNFAIR/POSSIBLY BIAS refereeing. I've never been so shocked at continuous flags thrown at opportune times for one team. It was very fishy.

  23. Just because A beat B and B beat C doesn't mean that A will beat C. Football is a game of emotions and coaching....and matchups, and schemes, and playcalling, and gameday dynamics.......and tailgating.especially tailgating
  24. I always hear this kind of talk on here. Why doesnt every person reading this just bring one friend to the game that normally wouldn't have gone and you could win a fan for life. I started getting a bunch of my non akron and even akron friends coming and now i have a group of 20 people that go to every game and have become diehards (at least for the tailgating). Just bring them to the party before the game and unless they regularly go to Suckeyes games, they will be impressed with the atmosphere and have a great time that they will want to experience again. Don't just talk about it, go pick them up saturday and bring them with you, buy the beer for once. TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM.
