Watch Linhart play tonight...right now
RootforRoo44 replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Bill Turner Figures you'd know. But, yep, Bill Turner was actually drafted and played in the NBA for six years and is the only Zips player to ever play in the NBA. Played for the Zips in the 60's. Of course, Jakubick was drafted by the Cavaliers in I think 1984, but was cut and never played for them. This was back when the NBA draft lasted longer than two rounds. Well let's hope Nate is our second. Btw, I have a new feature coming out soon on ASN. It starts off with a Q&A with Nate. I'll post it soon. -

Watch Linhart play tonight...right now
RootforRoo44 replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Yeah I've noticed the same in the two games i've watched of him. Though the thing about the NBDL is, it's just a showcase for guards to dribble around a lot and force up shots. There isn't much ball movement to begin with and each game resembles the NBA All-Star game. I wouldn't worry too much about him not having the offense run through him either, was it ever run through him even at Akron? His defense and energy have to be his selling points to the Cavs. And though last night wasn't his best game defensively, he has been very good this year on D. -

Solid game for Nate. His team won their fifth straight. He had 12 points, including a big three pointer when his team was down two with under two minutes to play, 3 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and only two turnovers in over 28 minutes of play. Nate's steal and one of his blocks came on Antoine Walker. Walker had TEN turnovers in the game. -

Yep...it's working now. Nate only had 2 minutes played in the first quarter but he hit a nice three pointer. -

hasnt started...running late i guess. The other games' feeds are working so I figure it just comes on around tip-off. -
Sorry I didn't put this in the Linhart thread, didn't want anyone to miss it. Go to here. Game starts pretty soon, live from South Padre Island, TX in the 2011 NBDL Showcase. The game before it just ended so it's running a little late If you're having trouble, go here and click on "Futurecast" in the scoreboard at right.

Soccer 2011 recruiting class
RootforRoo44 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
All accounts point to Blum being a complete and total jackass. It's easy to win recruiting battles when the other coach is unhinged, haha. I could tell how much of a jackass he is from that post game he did after his player cheap-shotted ours when he said he didn't think the play warranted a red card. What a buffoon. -
Still not impressed in the least. This is how you do a pregame video: or this

*bump* for an answer to the above question and anyone think the weather will be a factor for Wednesday? I see the forecast calls for around 6 inches in the Akron area from Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon. I hope that doesn't turn people away. Remember the OU game a few years ago in the blizzard?

Linhart makes Erie Bayhawks roster
RootforRoo44 replied to Quickzips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Never thought i'd say this but i would SOOOO buy a jersey from any NBA team (besides the Heat) that a UA alum was playing for. A Cavs Linhart jersey? Doesn't get more awesome than that...well besides a Teal Bunbury Team USA jersey. -
Championship Game DVDs
RootforRoo44 replied to tbozeglav's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
What a slap in the face. "Limited demand"?! But they have Field Hockey, Wrestling, and Women's Tennis?! DOZENS of them. Just absurd. -
I think it would be better for College Football if Auburn lost, considering their title could be rescinded...though I don't know if that's going to happen.

and Can't State SUCKS MORE THAN EVER.

Akron v Can't St. Post Game
RootforRoo44 replied to ZTVSportsProducer's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
+1... I love seeing these. -
I gave up on the Zips Zone subscription service and so far have seen just about every game on channelsurfing or the OTHER schools feed. Akron needs to do better on game access. They are too busy making their 6 dollars a month (or whatever it is) scamming people with their garbage feed rather than just giving us a decent way to watch all events. It really is stupid.

Well I hope EVERYONE was at the Can't game
RootforRoo44 replied to akronzips71's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I thought the students showed pretty well. No empty seats behind either basket and the south side was rocking. North side could use some work, with only Root4Roo44 and a few others near him making any noise. BTW, Party at Justin Greene's house! Party at Greene's!!! Haha, that was fun. Zeke was fantastic, that move where he spun around his defender and slammed it was EPIC. Can't wait for two and a half more years of that! btw: ASN Recap -
Just a heads up, I emailed the NCAAondemand website asking about when the Championship game will be on sale and they told me that they "do not have enough demand for it" and may not be making one. Email them here, and request it. I know I would buy a copy!

Some interesting facts about the Hermann: The Hermann Trophy and the M.A.C. Player of the Year Award merged in 2002, so the following stats take both into account: The most Hermann trophy's for one school in a row is five for St. Louis from '69-'73. Though I wonder if that's a bit of home bias? For women the record is four, and by UNC. Someone by the name of Mia Hamm won two of them. The school that has won the most overall is Indiana who has won seven, though in 1994 Todd Yeagley won the Hermann and teammate Brian Maisonneuve won the M.A.C. POTY. So Six Hermann's and one M.A.C. POTY technically. The Mid-American Conference school with the most other than Akron is Hartwick, who shares the lead with the Zips with two (1976: Glenn Myernick, 1977: Billy Gazonas).

Yes. For me, it's too early for this game. I REALLY enjoy NFL playoffs, to schedule this game at the same time is a mistake IMO. I know the schedule of it sucks, but it is still the rivalry game. I'll take the Can't State/UA rivalry game over Wild-Card weekend in the NFL any day of the week. +1billion

ASN Previews: My extremely bias side: Zips/flushes: The View from Route 8 The Can't State Side: Zips/flushes: The View from Route 43 and btw, yes all ASN urls have flushes as "flushes" to cut down on the confusion.

WOOO Go Darlington!

I still think it's BS that college coaches can be taken from a school right before a bowl game. Technically the bowl games aren't even real games. They are just glorified exhibitions so I see no problem with it from a rules standpoint. Though the coaches that leave are d-bags for abandoning the players they usually had claimed were so important to them.

Man i miss JD...he was a class act. Good luck to him.
