  1. Pomeroy thinks UIC will only win one more game the rest of the year, yet we're only favored by 2 points?! Not terribly flattering. Pomeroy is a joke. 2 point spread? Easy money right there.
  2. Amazing how far we've come since 2003 (#13 Miami vs. #20 BGSU). The MAC has become such garbage in football.
  3. "square pass/flat pass" - A ball that is passed on the ground to another teammate, parallel with the center and end lines. Like a cross but not in scoring range. "cross" - a ball that that is played across the mouth of the goal, parallel with the center and end lines, to set up a shot in scoring range. A type of square pass.
  4. According to Scout, we've already offered him. He has no interest in going to a MAC school, however. Oh, the other two sites i saw didn't have offers from Akron. Too bad though.
  5. Did they really just arrive here today??? I feel like that's a short turnaround for a game at 4 tomorrow afternoon. Seriously, I think we will win by at least 2 goals tomorrow. According to their facebook's they've been here since yesterday at least. They just took a bus to the field for practice.
  6. Glad to know his douchebag friends, hangers on and former Zips enjoy the prick. It says a lot about them as well. Unless Akron has an NBA team their talking about Cleveland vs Akron is irrelevant. Couldn't agree more...just lost me a lot of respect for those guys, even if they are LeBron's buddies. I cannot believe the Cavs' players were sitting there laughing it up with LeBron during free throws while down 30+ points. What a joke. If this were even 20 years ago, he would have got his a$$ knocked down a few times as a message from the organization. Pro sports suck these days. P.S. We gave these guys a free degree and they talk like that? Didn't they learn anything?
  7. Center Ice is in North Canton very close to the airport. Here are their website's directions. It's unfortunate that their next game is at the exact same time as the soccer game tomorrow. Yeah their scheduling has gone up against a few other sports' games this year, it sucks. Good luck to them though!
  8. Don't know if this has been brought up but Akron needs to get on this early. Corey Smith is one hell of a raw talent, and believe it or not he can actually catch passes! Something the Zips surely need.
  9. 11 pm pacific time would be 2 a.m. here. That would be worse. ASN Preview of Cal/Akron
  10. Kind of excited for the cold, it's going to be like a Browns game...minus the losing! ASN preview
  11. we could, ustream is easy. We've been playing around with it at ASN and with an internet connection and any feed you can put out a pretty nice broadcast. If you go to Ustream.tv and click on sports you can see that there are a few conferences that stream their games as well as plenty of high school teams. It seems sometimes that we are two-three steps behind everyone else with this athletics department and never on the cutting edge of things. Literally all Akron would have to do is plug our scoreboard feed into a computer and stream it and we would have a decent broadcast, instead of our horrible setup now. And they dont have to charge for it. It's actually criminal that they do considering the lack of quality, that it doesnt work for half the people, and that it doesnt work half the time!
  12. Strengths: Awesome stadium, Brian Wagner Weaknesses: Rob Ianello, John Latina, Curt Mallory.
  13. So, what's your reaction to the World Cup decision? Well sounds like some rich Qatar businessmen "donated" some money. I'm a bit surprised though, I mean both of our countries' leaders are Muslim, should be a tossup.
  14. Quickzips, how many shots do you expect from your shooting guard? I think if McNees is efficient enough with the ball 8 or so per night would be about ideal. You have to remember where Steve's shots are coming from. He takes a higher percentage of his shots from 3 than pretty much any player in Zips history. Not more than the Wizard of Wadsworth I bet Goddard scored 98% of his points from three point range.
  15. Does he really deserve to be? If I picked our team MVP at the start of the season, Ampaipitakwong would be it. At this point, he's behind Sarkodie, Mattocks, Valentin, Nanchoff, and Nagbe in that order.
  16. Let's also consider that the reason why Thomas and Wagner's stats are so great is because they are on the field 80% of each game and have tons of oppurtunities to get tackles. That certainly inflates their stats. That being said, Wagner is one of the best players in the conference and anyone that's watched just one Zips game would see that he is one hell of a special player (after they from watching such terrible football of course)
  17. Well when you're dodging bullets on your trip from the car to the arena nothing seems nearly as exciting!
  18. Quick preview of tonight's game as well as an embedded live feed of it as well. LINK
  19. So Men's Soccer isn't a sport? (7 teams)
  20. OK, to settle this one, i'm going to conduct a survey with every athlete i can get a hold of in the university. Any other questions anyone else would like to ask them? Like about fans wearing other school's jerseys?
  21. No problem, feel free. Appreciate it, thanks!
  22. Fights, threatening the referee, red cards flying all over. It was a mess. And that was just what happened after the game. Things got chippy from the beginning. There was this incident. The kid who got punched (Silva) received a red card while the aggressor only got a yellow. Then there were complaints about the ref not calling this a handball in the box. I can't find video of what happened after the game, but it ended on a Cal goal in OT that was very much offsides but not called as such. In all, Cal had three yellows while UCSB finished with one yellow and four reds (three after the game ended) I was wondering why no one else had brought this up after i posted that story on it last week. I had completely forgot to look for video of the incident(s). There were people on the UCSB boards calling for fans to boycott the College Cup or the AD to pull out of the contract over this. Needless to say, they are POed at the NCAA over that game's officials.
  23. Awesome, thanks for the picture, those are great. Btw, since you erased the UPC and there is no seat # listed, would you mind if i used your picture for my blog?
  24. I would beg to disagree with you. Anthony Ponikvar, the Zips back up goal keeper, writes a blog for gozips.com. In one of his blog posts he wrote, Clearly, wearing other schools gear around campus does have an effect on the players. If you go to UA you should show a little pride in your school. It's not really to hard to ask. Please cite specific evidence of this. Isn't that what I did when I quoted Poni?? What more can you ask for? Give me a basketball player, since we're discussing basketball. Judging by this guy's knowledge of the name of the leader of the Rowdies (how many other athletes would know that?) and that he's having dreams about him, I'm guessing they are friends. I want a non-biased opinion. I guarantee you that 95% of athletes on campus know who the president of the Rowdies is. And this knowledge comes from someone who is good friends with a few athletes (current and former) at UA.
  25. I mean, i wish they had a picture of the REAL blue jerseys, not the graphic of them.
