  1. Got a flyer for this site at the game yesterday, FINALLY someone has long sleeve jerseys! Though I really wish they had a picture on the site of the blue ones.
  2. WE ARE RIVALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. At what other school would this be noticed? Nearly every school in the country. Are you an Ohio State fan or something? Seriously, not trying to direct hate at you at all, i'm just confused with how you can honestly think at a college sporting event it's alright to have another (especially a rival) team's logo on you. Akron needs to build it's own identity, if someone wont come to something because they are a bigger OSU fan then who cares? I'd rather build something great and have a true fan base that isn't a bunch of front running sheep.
  4. I say 2,000...take down that banner over top of the tennis courts, take down the fencing on the one side and put more bleachers up there. You know, the ones we have sitting out and not being used?
  5. It appears so but there is still plenty of soccer to be played.
  6. Anyone else have no sound? Btw, who was saying that Louisville had a nice stadium? I still dont see it.
  7. Who's everyone rooting for? Would you rather play Lolla in the championship or the Suckeyes? I want the Suckeyes because that would feel so much better saying we won the title against the "big" Ohio school. I'd rather play Louisville. Because OSU is better than them. OSU is better than them but i believe we have something to prove to OSU and it would bring out the best in our players. Louisville is so overrated it's sickening (I've watched 3 of their games), and i have this terrible NEOhio fan thought in the back of my mind that we would blow this great opportunity to beat a former coach (who left us none the less) especially when we should be heavily favored.
  8. Believe it.
  9. but expecting them to stop wearing OSwho crap to Akron games/events, is perfectly reasonable. +1. When this happens, the Rowdies should ridicule the guilty person with chants to the point of utter humiliation. Perhaps that would curtail it from happening again. Yeah, because then they'd want to come to another game for sure... Who cares what they wear? They are a PAYING customer who, on that night, made the decision to go to an Akron Zips game over other forms of entertainment. If they have a good game experience, they'll probably come back. If they're ridiculed for wearing a shirt of a school that isn't a rival, isn't in our conference, and never plays us because some of our fans have an inferiority complex with Ohio State, they will probably say screw it and go to the movies next time. When we start selling out games, you can start being concerned with what fans wear. If it's not graphic or vulgar, who cares? Good God...it's no surprise our fan base (especially student fan base) has trouble growing with short-sighted, ignorant attitudes like this. Our fan base has trouble growing because of the short-sightedness of allowing people to think they can get away with wearing the colors of a school we actively compete against for recruits and TV time. How can you be taken seriously when nobody cares that half the fans are wearing the gear of another team and not the one they're watching? Complacency kills. I agree Zach. A few weeks ago (before the MAC Tourney) a few Rowdies gave this guy a hard time over his OSU hoodie, so much that he turned it inside out. ...That guy was my friend, who i brought to the game that day. I warned him and he didn't listen. Needless to say, he didn't make the same mistake again and he's been to every game since. You dont wear opposing colors in our house...PERIOD.
  10. Great effort by the Zips. Will Bruin was a non factor for most of the game. Also, better turnout for the Rowdies, still not as good as it could be but better. In terms of IU fans, very impressed. They came out in good numbers and their students were vocal, at least early on. The score allowed by the Zips was not a moment where they got lazy by any means. The Hoosiers made a fantastic pass to set that one up and just plain beat us, no worries everybody, the Zips played 100% the entire time. ASN Coverage
  11. I'm guessing that balloon was popped right after you exited. ASN Preview of IU (Rowdies info too)
  12. Here, I'll help: The alumni really just need to step it up at basketball and football games. My God it's not that hard to clap or stand up and be a part of the game here and there. Trust me it's fun, you might just forget how boring your life's become since leaving UA.
  13. They are the original state school. I'd root for the Bongcats over the OSU NOTC's any day as well.
  14. haha You're not kidding. He is a wordsmith, that's for sure.
  15. 16) What did you mean when you told the AK-Rowdies President that "You are not impressed" with the Rowdies?
  16. It doesn't matter what the rankings of teams are, it only matters what you do. What if the #2 teams are in fact not very good? tOSU is one of about ten darlings of voters. No matter what they do, they are always going to be highly ranked going into seasons. Schedule four cupcakes and walk through an easy Big Ten during their weekly punting festivals is how tOSU stays near the top. The illusion is much greater than the reality. Don't get me wrong, tOSU has good players and does what they have to do to win games in a bad conference and a cupcake OOC. The winning is what it is. I'm looking forward to tOSU having to play an SEC team this bowl season. It is usually a good reality check for tOSU fans. For me, my dislike for tOSU is has much more to do with their silly fans than the team itself. They produce a lot of really good NFL backup players....there, I said something nice about the players. HAHA
  17. More proof that the referees hate Akron. Such a blatant, "bad" call. i.e. they knew the QB is right handed. They had been watching him for more than three quarters of a game. Sure had me screaming at the TV set. It ignored me. Was the QB out of the box? Who was the intended target? First thing I thought as the play unfolded was intentional grounding. Why was the ball in his left hand? Bad, really, really bad officiating. I think they just wanted to hang around a little longer in the cold ASN Coverage
  18. Not even CLOSE to the real attendance. Anyway, good win. Definitely good to escape being 0-12. The officials almost handed Buffalo the game though in the fourth. WOW was that bad. ASN Coverage
  19. Anyone else near campus right now? I think they were just setting off fireworks at the stadium. (seriously)
  20. That was the most fun i've ever had at a Zips football game. Great time and great effort today from the team. FINALLY. I BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE ONE (1) !
  21. So....looking forward to being one of the only 20 people in the stands today. Judging by Lot 9's emptiness (an hour before kickoff) that may be a realistic assessment.
  22. Who are these people that are buying out both sides of the lower level reserved? There is never anyone in their seats, i find it hard to believe that the entire bottom area is sold out. Create two sections for students behind the visitor bench, leave the rest and everybody wins. Zachthezip hit the nail on the head with the reasons why the behind the basket seats are terrible as well. I'm just being realistic and giving you what the AD's perspective would probably be. When you have trouble filling in a smaller section of student seats, you generally aren't thinking about increasing the number of student seats you have to fill. Well i would think the AD would be smart enough to understand the reasons why students dont come to games...or at least try to figure out why. Then again, our AD is the same guy who hired Ianello so he cant be the brightest.

  24. Funny how there are so many people on here that say the exact opposite about Nitro. He plays fantastic defense at times and is as fundamental of a rebounder as they come. Thanks for seeing it how it is. Btw, you Vikings have our number so far this year in athletics.
  25. The band cheers just as much as the rest of the students. Just because we are wearing polos intead of AK-ROWDIES shirts doesn't mean we don't belong on the floor. If the band is cheering, then why should we be displaced? We have about 30-40 members, adding 30-40 ROWDIES isn't going to change the atmosphere. I agree there is a problem with the way the JAR is set up, but stop acting like it's the band's fault or that we could change the situation. All this aside, you can't put a drum set in the bleachers. I wont argue that the band doesn't cheer. But for every band member, there are two seats taken up. Let's move them up top and put them in their section and let more people down there. It will help ...i guarantee it.
