  1. Uh oh, team activities shut down. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2020/11/24/university-akron-mens-basketball-team-pauses-team-activities/6415176002/
  2. The season ending game against PCCC at the JAR now seems lifetimes ago... Not having fans was certainly predictable. Surprised they haven't killed any and all OOC yet.
  3. https://www.13abc.com/2020/11/23/four-bgsu-football-players-suspended-for-breaking-team-rules/
  4. Just saw an article that 4 BGSU players were suspended for the balance of the season for violating team rules. Loeffler is having some fun changing the culture up there.
  5. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/report-college-football-team-has-as-many-as-16-players-who-failed-drug-test/amp/ Looks like our friends at BGSU have a problem- allegedly 16 blown drug tests!
  6. Ummmm, you stole my line.
  7. I'll be surprised if we end up with any more than just MAC games in empty gyms.
  8. Coincidentally, Kirk was able to make some plays, rushing off of the corner unimpeded because Bauer was giving that tackle all he could handle.
  9. Well, two days ago someone needed a lesson in here to not refer to an adult female as a girl, but we're trying to make strides! Welcome to ZipsNation. Don't let this discourage you and keep posting!
  10. I'm more than happy to let BUGS have that preseason title. It'll make it more fun when they choke away their season in February.
  11. At the end of the day, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. By the time the team hit the field under Arth in 2019, due to what little was left and the new system weeding out what was left from Bowden's tenure, very few or no experienced players remained on the team. As for recruiting, I think Arth was certainly hamstrung in year one by his late hire. As I recall, BG hired Leffler a full 3 weeks before Arth. The stretch they're on certainly won't help in recruiting but they wouldn't be the first team to build a team from the ground up. I still think it's tough to judge the staff given what they're working with. When you see them play, the competition clearly appears bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic and other than recruiting (admittedly another part of their job) the coaches can only do so much with the talent they have. To the coaches' credit, they are better than last year and I'm not seeing bad technique or a lack of effort.
  12. It's a forum. A place to exchange thoughts and ideas. That's going to occasionally involve criticism, e.g. Groce should mix in some zone; Arth needs to recruit more transfers and jucos; player B needs to control his emotions on the field... That criticism can result in a reasonable and productive adult discussion. What it shouldn't be and can't be is a place for juvenile name calling hissy fits when there's a disagreement and mods need to get that stuff quickly under control, and fast, or you'll see the decay of the site.
  13. I was there for a final four a while back and the city did an outstanding job.
  14. Girl? Yikes. With respect to this ongoing p!$$Ing contest, Arth was left with little to work with. If Bowden's recruits were strong, he'd still be here. That being said, Arth has now had 2 recruiting classes. While he was late to the dance on the first one due to some foot dragging, we'd better start seeing some positive results of his recruiting efforts pretty darn soon.
  15. If I had a drink for every time Dustin Fox said "they really like this guy" I'd still be sleeping it off.
  16. It's year 2. We should start seeing more impactful players from the staff's recruiting efforts. It doesn't help that the arch nemesis, a mere half hour away, is on the trajectory we hoped for. 2 wins-, 7 wins, 4-0. The good news is that Lewis won't be there long.
  17. It's like Bubba and 10 blocking dummies.
  18. Defense is pretty darn brutal.
  19. I wish Dustin Fox could shut up for 5 seconds. He must think he's getting paid by the adjective, double for hyperbole and cliches.
  20. Lord, that was easy.
  21. Received an email from the NCAA today that they are working on relocating all of the regional tournament sites with an eye towards sending all 68 teams to one site- the Indianapolis area. The master plan would be for all of the teams to be within a manageable area with sufficient housing, practice facilities and arenas.
  22. Just saw Stewart passed. Just awful. He had a lot of Akron connections.
  23. FF- PCCC has its largest crowd of the season.
