  1. Do any of you think that just maybe there were only so many founding packages? Since they do have to order a plaque of some sort with names on it. 30,000 names would be a rather large wall honoring a lot of people, that would probably never be able to find their name. they were HOPING for 5000 for the INFO...
  2. if JD wins the MAC East he stays...actually he would only have to be around .500 to do that...look nobody really cares if you beat Syracuse...if he beats Can't,bg,buffalo,ou and steals another one he can get to the MAC champeenship and be under .500...I'd sure as hell enjoy a game ar Ford Field in December a hell of a lot more than I am going to enjoy the game in the Carrier Dome in September...the ZIPS will either be REAL good..they are on paper...or they will fall off the edge of the earth and JD is back to selling insurance...GO ZIPS
  3. I thought this stuff was supposed to make it to some store....did it...what happened?
  4. What about the Roo Brew? the OHIO BREWING COMPANY, HOPPIN'FROG, both local micros...if they don't try to get in on this they are crazy....and if the Lizard doesn't use it's connection to attach to the stadium some how....I know there USED to be a prohibition on selling alcohol INSIDE college football stadiums...thats one reason for the setup at the Bowl..outside the seating area..whether thats still in effect, don't know for sure...
  5. how come cant has 2 on the first team offense and the ZIPS-0?- kemme should be there at least...
  6. lots of QUALITY coaches at I-AA and D-II who would jump at coming in here with the new digs...be pissed off at JD and the AD if things tank this year
  7. can't at this point...the ZIPS are an unknown quantity...too much underachieving...too many IF'S..
  8. if not i'll start one. HEY GUYS! i heard from a very reliable unnamed source in the athletic department that we're getting a winking lizard in the new complex. they don't need to sell alcohol on campus...you people drink enough...if the LIZARD didn't get a presence near INFO they would be crazy...they sponsor sports programming and the area around Exchange/Spicer/Brown will be alive...BW3 is crazy if they don't expand...some guys where i work were trying to figure a way to get in on this..one of them is a chef and wants to invest some money and time...
  9. I'm in this camp, but if I was on the jury, I would have recommended no more than 50% above market appraisal or 50% above cost to locate the business to a spot of equal or better business opportunity, not 3mill.In other words, you don't just say "Here's what your land is worth, now take a hike!" just because you got the government involved. Okay, I can't give my neighbor the appraised property value and then kick them out. My neighbor has rights. People need to be compensated above what your appraise their property for, for a variety of reasons.1) They have to move. There are many expenses involved.2) They have to move. It puts them out of business for a time.3) They have to move. The new property could cost more than what their existing one is appraised for.4) They have to move. Their new property may not even be as advantageous to their business as the old one.5) They actually owned that property. Hello, McFly. I know that there are limitations to ownership rights, but you can't just bump people because you want to.The point is that THEY HAVE TO MOVE, and they should be compensated for the fact that THEY HAVE TO MOVE, not just for the value of the property that you are TAKING away from them. But I also think that there should be some (nothing major) degree of punitive effect, not just compensatory. I think giving them 3Mill is overboard, but I don't think they should have just been given street value either. this is at least a somewhat objective post...look youngins' in 1970 when i matriculated at HILLTOP HIGH as it was called then...the city was more than happy to have dives on Exchange...the area was a real rathole then...i sat in the bar that would become Lil' Niks and watched someone ride their motorcycle in the front door and park it inside...the point being any business was better than no business as far as the city forefathers were concerned...they paid taxes...the Sun has been there forever...paying something to the city... i hope they get this thing settled...i have paid for my season tickets to the new digs already...but this is AMERICA...the almighty dollar and all that!
  10. what a great place...AMERICA...the almighty dollar is our god!
  11. gee...they finally listened to the fans!
  12. i'll say again... no loser goes to the new digs...either JD wins the East in the MAC or goes at least 7-5...that means an upset or two...anybody wanna pick which it is?
  13. why would C-USA want Akron for anything but MAYBE BasketBall?
  14. unfortunately you may be right...JD is NOT going to be invited to the FO unless he is either at least 7-5 or goes to the MAC Champeenship game...now...he has a good O-line,good RB's, appears to be a better D-line and adequate LB's...secondary is ????....wideouts????...QB????????....they can win some games with a running game and defense in the MAC...but unless CJ or whomever steps up at QB and 1 wideout emerges....the D will have to dominate...got my season ticket order in for '08 and '09
  15. having lost 5 scholarships and with the pitiful last 2 years, 6-6 won't get JD back for opening day at INFO...he better be AT LEAST 7-5 and/or get to the MAC championship game
  16. well with this wonderful news, looks like JD better have a REAL big year on the field OR....
  17. you can go to the gozips.com site and run off a copy of an order form or do it online...
  18. I agree Even during bad years teams like Ohio U and Bowling Green draw well for home games because of the on-campus experience you get for MAC games and rivarly games. During the competitive years you'll get sellouts. The Bowling Green-NIU ESPN Saturday game of just a few short years ago more then drives home what a home game on your campus can do for you even in the MAC. I have no doubts UofA can rise to and above that level in the coming years once the stadium opens on campus. can't really compare Athens and Bowling Green Ohio to Akron...smaller towns and the schools are THE item...not much else to do not so here...never has been that connection with U of A and the community that there should have been..at least not yet..
  19. someone suggested that a year ago! Pick your seat day...tag all the available seats let the season ticket buyers go take a tag off the seat they want..been done lots of other places..
  20. Name the night. I hate that place.I'd drive up from Georgia with gas running as high as it is now just to help out and I know how to drive heavy equipment. The plasma center is a major blight in the area. I understand the need for blood. I don't understand the plasma center. you would if you needed it to save YOUR life...
  21. how much dinero did one have to cough up to get invited? seems like the AD already forgot the REAL fans...
  22. I've seen him. He's 285. He didn't play last year because he's fairly new to football (I think he only played 2 years of HS?). And, to go from Youngstown Rayen to UA is a pretty academic big leap. I know he made the Dean's List for the fall semester....so if his football progress is anything like his scholastic progress...he could have a significant impact this year. i work with a guy who has a daughter on the track team who dated this kid in high school...he says he is every bit that big and has all kinds of athletic ability...just needs to develop football technique...
