  1. It could happen to anyone, but from all reports, that is not what appears to be happening.
  2. Neither Krok nor Ball appear in the spring prospectus. Lane was explosive when he made plays and has huge potential if his work ethic matches his potential. He was also our only threat, which made it easy to shut him down. It should help having JoJo here. I also think Michael Means, Austin Wolfe, and A.J. Coney will give us some great plays this year as well. Bell, apart from a handful of plays, only saw the field in special teams and he delivered some punishing hits. I am not concerned about his potential. Boxen also saw limited playing time. They are both still learning the system and will learn how to be aggressive as the season progresses. Their write-ups appear to be almost solely based upon stats or other write UPS so I don't expect them to give a lot of credit to our upcoming talent. Big questions marks are in the kicking game. I will be interested to watch the special teams play.

  6. Nice post on Bre' Ford. I really enjoyed watching Bre' play at UA and had the chance to watch his junior year in high school.   11. It was on my MSN page, too, but I think those pages are curated based on our browsing habits, so it likely didn't appear on everyone's MSN page. I was rather surprised it has become a national story (Bleacher Report) with March Madness going on right now. I guess it fills a vacuum in the football news bucket right now. I am not too concerned as it was an accidental incident. Not our preferable headline, but it beats one of the kids getting arrested. I don't think it makes a difference at the end of the day beyond being something interesting people discuss.
  12. If, and that's a big if, there is a role for government, it lies with the states, not the federal government. The SCOTUS has ruled (Gibbons vs. Ogden, Bailey vs. Drexel Furniture CO., that Congress has tax and spend power, and has deviated little from Story's Commentaries on the Constitution, which has guided the court's understanding of the General Welfare Clause. Story defined the clause in a manner that was a balance between Hamilton and Madison's perspectives, expressed in the Federalist Papers. The tenth amendment dictates that any powers not expressly spelled out in the Constitution go to the states. So if, there is a role for government in this it goes to the states, not the ever bloated federal government. Lead in the water is left to the states. The federal government, however has the ability to influence the issue by denying government backed loans to homes with chipping paint (tax and spend.) Perhaps I am the minority who appreciates the rule of law. I am not a libertarian. I believe there is a role for government and regulation that role is clearly spelled out by the Constitution. Democrats seem quite eager to disregard our rule of law these days, as represented in the formal rebuffs issued unanimously by the SCOTUS to the Obama administration for abusing the powers of the executive branch. In terms of being a bigot, you are way off base and venturing outside of my bubble, I suggest you might take a dose of your own medicine and venture away from academia and you might see that there has been a growing cry from Americans to take our government back - from an ever-infringing federal government who abuses its power more each year. And while I do not care for either man, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are no accident and are no minority. Their message of giving control back to the middle class and taking away power from government resonates with a large segment of the population. If you don't like a law or parts of the Constitution then change it, legally. I will leave you to go to your safe space.
  13. Why bother? You are so convinced you are right it would be a waste of my time. I could have sat argued point/counterpoint, but it would be pointless. There are obviously a lot more people who share my ideology that you are either aware of or would like to believe. Thank God. Almost done with 8 years of truly misguided ideology.   17. I must have missed that in the Constitution. Here I thought that it was, "...in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..." I know liberals want to redefine what that means, but no thanks. And FYI, the NFL is already dumping a significant amount of money into research to make the game safer. Some colleges are running pilot programs for more technologically advanced helmets.
  18. I am all for making football safer, but the risk the NFL will face by not taking actions and spending more money will continue to grow as more parents are too afraid to let their kids play. If the government gets involved (and it has ZERO business doing), it ill only provide an out for the NFL to get out of lawsuits by citing it met all government requirements. Government is not the only answer to a problem. As a matter of fact, in many cases, it should be the last answer. There is no Constitutional basis for getting involved, but I doubt that will stop some politicians from trying to use it for publicity.

  21. You can purchase some helpful books on Amazon, attend a workshop, and talk with your school's coaches for the best way to go about recruiting. Also, find out who your son's recruiting coach is and place a call.
  22. Agree - why they ever scheduled KSU the weekend when students were gone was beyond me. I like that our November games have some meaning.
  23. It didn't just rain, it poured for almost every one of them. I have sat through a lot of wet football games in my life, but the Pitt game was by far the worst. And how many people like to sit through rainy games in November? I don't remember one sunny, pleasant home game this year.
  24. In the article, he said ideally, a team would create a hybrid position for him, somewhere between linebacker and safety. I would not be at all surprised to see that happen.
  25. +1 Lzip. I thought about that yesterday. I would be surprised if Ball is a bust. He might not turn out to be King of the MAC, but I bet he buys us the time we need for younger players to develop. Every kid wants to play as a freshman, but moat of the time, it's better for them to red shirt. I also wouldn't be surprised if we had someone already either slotted or working with as an o line coach and it hasn't been announced yet. Maybe we don't but it wouldn't surprise me, either way. I am not worried about the o line. Yes we lost all seniors who really pulled it together during the second half of the conference schedule, but I think we have some incredible talent coming in and as long as we have someone installed before spring football, we will be fine.
