I don't want to get into over-analyzing the schedule at this point. But, hopefully we can get 2 OOC wins again, with the two home games. If so, we enter league play at 2-2 again. From there, lets face it, we cleaned up on the weakest opponents in the league at the right time last year. This year, there's no UMass, and Buffalo and Ken+ are road games. Those were 3 of the 4 weak opponents that we had must-win situations with last year. I usually hate the narrow view that the prognosticators usually have when it comes to assessing the MAC, but it's hard to argue with someone who doubts our ability to equal last year when they see the magnitude of the holes we have to fill. It's up to us to show them all that we've plugged those holes adequately.

It was inevitable. When you see guys such as Trimble from Maryland pulling out of the draft, you realize that these two guys had ZERO chance.

KD & the City of Akron Celebrate LeBron James

I LOVED hearing him say that. I hope the very prideful sports fans in Cleveland don't get all bent out of shape about it. -
KD & the City of Akron Celebrate LeBron James

I know. Horrible. -
So, featuring someone in coaching who actually had an impact on LeBron and the Cavs success at this celebration? What a concept. Note to Cleveland.

By the way, I just got the word that the Championship Parade for Cleveland and for Northeast Ohio, is not going to be led by Cleveland HIgh School bands, Akron High School bands, any other local high school bands, or even Akron or Ken+. The parade is going to be LED by the OSWho Suckeyes band. Enjoy Edit: And Urban Meyer and Thad Matta in the VIP car in front. My guess is that Keith Dambrot, who has 1,000,000 times more to do with this Championship than Thad Matta, is nowhere to be found in this parade, let alone be in the VIP car.

Because they had a player so good that he dominated a series in so many categories in a way that no championship series has ever been dominated before

Mykel Traylor-Bennett [NFL Raiders]

Does this mean that all of the excitement over Traylor-Bennett's return, and being such a great fit for the TE position, is just a waste? I sure hope not. -
LOL...Durant? Is 82-0 possible in the NBA? Let me be blunt. If any of you had an NBA team that won far more games than anyone else over two years, had the two-time MVP, and missed back-to-back championships only by a historical comeback and after some untimely injuries/suspensions, how anxious would you be to change anything? As a huge LeBron fan who wants to see him win as many titles as possible, I guess I should pray that Golden State would "retool" and mess everything up. But, unfortunately it's not going to happen.

I watched the entire thing live, and I love how Keith always wears Akron gear when he's on TV to talk about LeBron. He even did it during his segments in the "More Than A Game" movie. He's always promoting the U of A. Gotta love it.

Quarterbacks get a lot of attention, but I agree that this should be our primary concern.
-
I felt all along that Woodson had far more talent and physical ability than Pohl. When his "smarts" in effectively running the offense finally caught up, I'm sure glad that the coaching staff recognized it soon enough to resurrect our season. The Lafayette game had to be the game that solidified that status for the rest of the year.

I'm sure we all realize that whatever creative idea that someone thinks would actually WORK would probably not actually happen. It's a shame that it's come to this. We have to find ways to TRAP people at Zips sporting events to try to keep them from walking into the gates, taking the giveaways, and going home.
-
Absolutely. I wonder if they would do it. And I also can't really speculate on how many people would show up to a football game that they don't care about, and purchase a $25 ticket just to watch LeBron wave to the crowd at a timeout, 3 months after the championship, when they've certainly had dozens of chances to see much longer versions of the same thing thoughout the summer for FREE.
-
Funny. Just a week ago, everyone (including the Beacon) was talking about how Cleveland wasn't built to match up with Golden State. Even Cleveland's GM said last night that they were not. This was all a near-miracle. I know how Golden State will "retool". Go back to practice in the fall, and hope they don't lose their starting big man at the absolute worst time possible, and hope Draymond behaves himself. I'm sure they hope Curry isn't playing late in the playoffs right after sitting out with a knee injury, or Iguodala isn't nursing back spasms. What reason would Golden State have to "retool"? As much as I am a die-hard LeBron fan, I also understand that breaks in the playoffs (such as health) often affect the outcome.

I never like to say that someone's legacy can be defined by a few games. But this is one of those cases. Total dominance, and the first player ever to lead in ALL of the major statistical categories in a championship series. He goes from being on the brink of 2-5 in championships, to again being talked about as the Greatest EVER. Unbelievable.
-
If this were true, we could just draw names out of a hat when doing our recruiting work.
-
Yes, pretty shocking considering that someone like Athlon probably only pays attention to the numbers that they are seeing, and not by actually viewing performances.
-
Based on what these prognosticators have done in the past, I'm pretty happy to see 4 guys on the First and Second teams, especially since we only return a handful of starters. Obviously, seeing a Newcomer on the 2nd team is pretty shocking. I'm sure it's a testament to what they've seen of him before. I'm thrilled to get this guy, and hope it all works out. And with 3 of those 4 guys on the 1st/2nd teams being transfers, are we ever going to complain again about bringing in non-freshmen??

Fox Sports 1 examines Akron Trio on USMNT

I love that graphic. Thanks for sharing. Yes, we all certainly know that they are all not "Akron Boys" in the sense of being from Akron, but I'm fine with the fact that they reference them that way collectively, based solely on their college affiliation. -

830k? Regardless of how any of us feel about Tuesday night football games, it's not going to change with that kind of much-needed revenue coming in. -

Our University should use anything that proclaims any Akron Athletics program as a "National Powerhouse". Especially since it compares Akron to our nemesis down in Cowlumbus. I love the piece. It would seem to be priceless publicity. But like I've always said, the problem will always be that not enough people in Ohio give a damn about Soccer. -
Don't be so kind. OU hasn't been to the NCAAs since 2012 and hasn't even been to a MAC title game since 2013, and got blown out. So, I think it's safe to say that they haven't even been close to an NCAA bid in the past 4 seasons.
-
If it's any consolation to Mr. OU Dude......at least when OU fans are living in the past, they are only referring to several years go. As opposed to Ken+ fans, who want you to only remember what they accomplished 1-1/2 decades ago.

If he's really going to end up playing from that spot, I can't imagine a non-CB trying to cover him, with his big play ability.
