The rubber bowl isn't going to cut it. We need to get moving on this stadium fast. Wow, our offense is really horrible. Getsy is awful. And to be honest, we have been playing some boring football, so it really doesn't suprise me that nobody cares to see this game. We will never win with Getsy next year. By far, Brookharts biggest mistake here.

The reason we are having the game at this date is all because of ESPN. I guess when they come knocking, us mid majors jump at the opportunity to get the TV game, but I really don't like this scenario. Two teams with nothing to play for in front of an empty stadium is not very marketable in my opinion. I was really looking forward to an early season matchup with Can't at te Rubber Bowl this year. Can't is pathetic. I almost want them to do better cause I'm embarased to even call them a rival.

I am very worried about Ball State. Remember, this is when we are most vunerable, after wins. These guys need to stop letting it get to their heads. On the bright side, we once again are still in this thing after some troubling losses.

Guess what, football is a business. College football is all about money. The product we are putting on the field is trash, and I'm not sure who would want to see the kind of play we saw against army. With that said, we are trying to build a football program here, and the best person needs to play. We can't concern ourselves with worrying about personal issues here because right now we are in jeopardy in setting ourselves back several years. After getting snuffed out of a bowl last year, I learned sob stories don't apply in college football. Too bad so sad.

We will lose handily to BG with or without Omar. In fact, we would probably lose to their second teamers. We are Can't State, Buffalo caliber horrible.

We've got a major major problem on this football team. The QB cupboard is definitely not bare. Also, if you can remember preseason, when we were trying to set our next QB, nobody really set themselves apart from one another. So what is so special about Getsy that cannot try something different? We can't get much worse than this. Jabari and Fergusen are both legit talents that could possibly step in. At this point, the staff needs to send a strong message to the players. If you don't produce, you sit. If the veterans can't get it done, then get the young guys in there and start giving them experience so we can be at least become minutely competitive in the future. Nobody on this team plays with any enthusiasm or heart. Is that due to a lack of leadership or lack of coaching? What a horrible, ugly game in all aspects. We wonder why nobody comes to watch the zips play. I found the answer.

I'll say it straight out. No, the QB cupboard is NOT bare and void of talent. It seems that JD is very loyal to the promise that he made to Getsy and not willing to let another QB on the field because if that QB can throw the deep ball and get something going with the offense, then JD has a problem. Obviously Getsy is our QB, like it or not, and Ferguson will never get a chance to play QB at Akron. He is a very talented QB and has the ability to be a positive leader and influence on this team. He also has a very strong arm and would give us the deep threat which we do not have with Getsy. What a shame that as talented as he is we will never get to see him play for Akron. If that is the case maybe our problem lies on the sidelines because Getsy is terrible, and if the coaching staff is to ignorant to see that, then I worry about our future.

No cash in the world would have been able to stop this from happening. We are AKRON. They are CINCINNATTI. Need I say more? What we need to do is to continue to dedicate ourselves to improving this program. We have a lot of the pieces in place thanks to some good leadership including MT. However, we need to do more. Look at our football stadium. It's miles off campus in the middle of nowhere crumbling apart. Look at our bball arena. It's nothing more than an oversized high school gymnasium at best. Until we start making something of ourselves, this will continue happening.

You knew it was going to happen sooner or later. I'm sure that Proenza will hire the right person who shares his vision on moving this athletic program forward. The joys of being a midmajor. I do wonder how this affects stadium plans, though.

Let's put it bluntly, we suck. Getsy really sucks. Get him out of there. Maybe we can give Carlton Jackson or Chris Jaquemaine a shot at the spot next year and start grooming one of them. Anyway, this unit as a team sucks. The maturity level on this team sucks. Miami sucks. They rank up there with Can't State on my hate list. How long are these Akron teams going to continously get our hopes up and then let us down? Every lousy year. 51-23, what a joke and an embarasment to this university. With that said, on to basketball season...

Getsy is no more than a turnover machine. Is there any discipline on this team? Man, I hate Miami.

We gave tickets away and practically begged fans to show up for the Marshall game. Can't draws well because they are our crosstown rival 15 minutes away.

Here is our problem. Here is why no one will come to football games. Look at the rubber bowl. The place is way off campus. It's crumbling and has a high school stadium atmosphere. Next you have the team itself. Since when was the last time we even made it to a bowl or played in a MAC championship? Ya, exactly. Miami, BG, NIU, and Toledo would all have the same lousy MAC fan support without winning teams. The MAC as a whole is in the same boat as we are. We must win and build a winning tradition. We MUST build this new stadium if we want to be on par with everyone else in the MAC. What is taking so long?

So does this mean we can quit the "when will JD leave" discussions? Clearly, he has a lot of work to do. Getsy couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night. It was disgusting. Since when did we decide that Biggs cannot run? We need to start pounding the ball and taking control of the games here. At least Sullivan got some reps last night. If we let Buffalo score more than a touchdown next week, it will be an embarrasment. If we fail to put more than 21 points on the board, it will be an embarrasment. You know what, let's just be thankful that we have Buffalo next week because this season has all the potential to get real ugly real fast. Aw geeez, I'm about ready to talk basketball on the Can't board cause we aint' beating BG or Miami on their turf, and that translates to another bowless season of Akron football.

I've had PROFESSORS talk about the NIU win, people I would not expect talking about the zips. Not to mention the student body is definitely taking notice with this team. It's going to be a great atmosphere on Saturday. Times a changin'

A win over Miami and/or Bowling Green, and you will start seeing some respect. We need to show everyone that we are for real, and not just a one hit wonder team. Patience

As bad as Pitt has been doing, you got to wonder if that could affect us. If Wanstedt is canned, wouldn't JD be a pretty strong candidate? We really need this new stadium to get rolling. If in fact we lose JD, we need to have something to sell an attractive candidate besides nice practice facilities. You can look at OU landing someone like Frank Solich.
