JD will be gone in a year. Bottom line...we need this stadium, and it needs to be as nice as canal park. What we need to focus on is outgrowing the MAC if we want to get anywhere in college athletics and really create a name for ourselves. KD even said it. A nice stadium would be a huge step in that direction. Once we increase our prestige as an athletic departmentl, then our turnover rate will decrease substantially. We are getting a young AD that probably will be looking to further advance his career, so he will definitely be anxious to get things done here to beef up his resume. Spearheading the stadium project would be a nice thing to put on there.

So he is our new AD? If so, it sounds like he is very well liked.

2 Questions: Who is Mack Rhodes? Why is he coming to Akron?

I say lets hire the best guy we can and then pound Lolla's team into the ground in some OOC action. This university did a lot for him and we all rallied behind our soccer program. Athletics spent quite a bit of $$ shuttling students over to Maryland to cheer our guys on. Too bad nobody cares about soccer in Louisville. You tend to get overshadowed when you got a top notch football and bball program.

Nice to see Can't fans jump on our bandwagon. Maybe we can turn them into zip fans. :macc:

If this is in fact true and the number one recruit in Ohio is even considering Akron as an option. OMG that completely blows me away. JD is the real deal folks. A kid of his caliber would be an instant star in the MAC. To think Buckey fans would be pissing their pants if something like that happened.

I agree that we played a decent game, and we never gave in even when half of our team was in foul trouble. There were many opportunities for Cal to run away with this one. We got some outstanding shooters on this team. I don't see a lot of teams beating us on the perimeter. One major problem on this team that will hurt us is size. I keep saying this over and over. KD needs to recruit some more post players. Cal physically dominated us even though we shot the ball better. That had a lot to do with the foul trouble. Our guys down low tried blocking shots but instead ended up fouling because our opponent was simply bigger and stronger. We have three leginimate guys in the paint in Travis, Futch, and Preston. That's it. Where is the depth? Milum got manhandled. Linhart is inexperienced, and I question his athleticism. Wood decided to take the offseason off. Louisville is going to kill us inside, and I wouldn't be suprised to see us in foul trouble there early on too.

per the espn selection show, Memphis accepts a bid to play on Dec. 26. I don't know too much about them yet.

Remember, we have played considerably better as underdogs this year. I think we choked in every game we were expected to win except Can't and Buffalo.

Went to pick up some bball tickets at the JAR and I was suprised to see the line that was formed in front of the JAR ticket office for football and soccer tickets.

AMEN!! Again, we control our own destiny. Just win! A big difference from last year at this time. I'm glad our bowl hopes now stand in our hands rather than 50 other teams.

So if we were somehow able to beat NIU, we would get snubbed out of a bowl again? Or would the Motor City bowl just take whoever is MAC champion?

8k in attendance is a huge success? Getting your game downgraded to ESPNU a huge success. Yeah it's great you got some exposure but I doubt anyone watched the game Thursday morning. Whould you want to sit through that weather Thanksgiving morning?

We need to put her in the hotseat. At what point are we going to see improvement? Loss to Cleveland State at home. We then get our butts cleaned at some other school. Ouch.

Go back to Can't or wherever school you are from, and don't crash our party. The Zips are in the MAC!!!! That's all I care about.

You're all right Kit-Cat. You summed up everything. What is so wrong with having two new teams in the MACC? What is wrong with showing the nation that the MAC is more than just Miami, Toledo, and BG? BG only drew 8k when we played them. Yet nobody jumps on them. Miami consistently draws flies even with all their history. But lets not jump on the sweaters. I'm sick of hearing how much of a disaster the MACC will be. The zipnation is fired up and so is our team. It's our turn baby!

That would make us 6-6, my guess is no. I think they have to take the winner of the Mac championship game, but not the loser. They could take BG at 6-5. That would make the second year in a row we were passed over by a bowl for a team we beat. I really can't blame the bowls though, because the purpose of a bowl committee is to draw teams that bring big crowds to a city for a few days so the town can make some money. Does anyone really think Akron would take a big crowd to a game? It would be worse than the horrible crowd Miami took to the Indy Bowl last year. It is what it is....Until the Rubber Bowl is flattened so the people of Akron have a decent place to go watch a game and they draw big crowds, or we can win the conference championship, this will always be the case. I would just be happy to go to the championship game. I mean really, when has Akron ever gone to Ford Field for the MAC championship? And with the team we have this year, we would probably get destroyed in a bowl game anyway. Maybe if our record was better, like say, winning games we were supposed to win, we could have made a stronger case because we beat both NIU and BG. However, we still need to keep building a team, and a MAC championship appearance is just another tool JD could use to bring in the right guys to help generate excitement in this area. We do, however, need to get moving on this stadium. At least give us an indicator that this will fall through, and I don't mean through the floor. The rubber bowl is an embarasment, and only hurts our image.

Let's not go that far. This team is definitely not ready to be playing in a MAC championship game, but after getting snuffed out of a bowl last year, I could care less if we are ahead of more deserving MAC teams. BEAT Can't!!

No sense in crying over spilled milk. If I understand it right, we take care of K-ent, Toledo beats BG, we go to the championship game. Can anybody confirm this? Now who would have thought that at the beginning of the season? I can indefinitely confirm this. Somebody close to the university spoke to the assistant AD, and what I found that Northern Illinois will factor into the scenario. Miami lost to them, but we beat them, etc. So according to this, all we need to do is beat Can't and have have a Toledo victory over BG. We are very much in this. Wow.
