ZachTheZip
Does anyone know if there's extra space for fans on the Rowdies bus as there has been in the past? I was thinking of making the drive +1, but obviously would rather have a bus ride.Bus to where?
RowdyZip
HILARIOUS quotes from Coach Dambrot in the post game about getting up for competition whether it's VCU, MAC, "Our Lady of the Elms or the Jewish Center." Love ya, coach. Keep the wins comin!

mes102
Dambrot quote was hilarious. When he mention "we have to compete no matter if it's the MAC, VCU, Lady of the Elms, or the Jewish Center."Frenchie said "did you try to schedule the Jewish Center?"Dambrot said "Fans might think that" while he laughed as he said that last quote... Had this convo after the game:"Charlie you are our 2nd favorite MAC coach right behind Coach D"Charlie, "That's cuz you keep kicking our ass""Thats because we have to make up for that shot a few years ago"Charlie, "Ya you still got a lot to make up for that!"I love Charlie Coles. johnnyzip84
It's always tough to steal one in Oxford and I doubt if this will be an exception. This Miami team is down a notch from previous editions but still very dangerous in the darkness of Millett Hall. Channel surfing might have it. It seems that a lot of Miami games are on ONN.Akron 58Mia 55Especially since Miami is the only team who has yet to lose a home game in conference, I'll have my fingers crossed but I have a bad feeling about this one:Miami 55Zips 52I will be more than happy to eat crow.Munch, munch, munch, tastes good and happy to do it. This crow is mighty tasty! My mistake was not realizing that Fuller didn't have any more years of eligibility left......and that he didn't play hoops to begin with......other than that, my pre-game logic was sound. Now how about a march on Richmond! Go Zips!!
Zipmeister
Great win for the Zips. Two main reasons:1. MU goes 0 for 15 from behind the arc.2. As UAkronkid pointed out, the redbirds were more afraid of the refs than us.
Dr Z
Great win for the Zips. Two main reasons: 1. MU goes 0 for 15 from behind the arc. Stat of the game: 0-15 for MUPlay of the game: Off the late time out, Humpty cutting to the hoop for the layup. Post game interview Steve says what a great play you drew up there coach. KD says, that's not how we drew it up, Humpty improvised. Most disappointing: Game not being on channelsurffing site. I really wanted to watch that game. I can't evaluate the game very well from listening on the radio. You can only look at the box score and make uneducated guesses while relying on what the announcers choose to tell you. Joe Dunn made it a point to say "Humpty is playing the point" when #4 was in the game. Steve ignored the comment and continued describing the play. I wonder how many minutes were played like that?Comment of the game: KD "our fans would complain about that" referring to Steve's joke of playing the Jewish center.Best chance for a graphic re-occurance: McNight-mare On Carroll StreetMost vanilla article on the game: Today's PD article. I've seen the PD cover NHL hockey games better!?!Charlie Hustle: Again, hard to judge just by listening to the game, but sounds like Cvetinovic saved multiple possessions with hard play.Result: Any win on the road in the MAC is a good one, so it looks like we are a lock for a buy in the tournamentFocus: March 5 is going to be a very important game for momentum in the tournament. tpsjugglerdude
Wierdest Play of the Game- MU called for a charge, the basket counts and Akron goes to the line to shot 2.I can think of at least 5-6 possessions where Nik saved us with his hustle. One was a rebound off of an Akron foul shot. Humpty's "Play of the Game" was great streaking to the basket. It made up for his wide open breakaway layup that he missed. Quickzips
Big win for the Zips. Obviously didn't get to watch, but the stat lines indicate it was your typical Zips/Hawks game. Grind it out battle to the end. If I am reading things right, either a Zips win over Buffalo or a Miami loss in the next game clinches a first round bye for us. Early in the year the Zips seemed to either blow teams out or lose close games. Now they are winning the close games. Good sign going into the end of the season. Would have been nice to see OU pull off the upset to give us sole possession of first, but I'm also kind of looking forward to the collision course with Can't for the #1 seed on ESPN2 in Primetime. In fact, it looks like Miami and Buffalo will be fighting for the #4 spot, unless something crazy happens. And if we don't get the #1 spot, the #3 spot is a very nice place to be with the semi matchup against the #2.
Dave in Green
..... Early in the year the Zips seemed to either blow teams out or lose close games. Now they are winning the close games. Good sign going into the end of the season. .....Funny you should mention this. I was thinking last night that the Zips appear over the past few games to have fallen into a rhythm of doing just enough to win, regardless of each opponent's level of strength or whose court the game is played on. It's the classic distance running strategy of falling into a quick enough pace to stay near the front, but not overexerting and losing the energy reserve required for that final kick to the finish line.Blowing out other teams may be more fun. But learning how to win close games is more useful going into the part of the season when the lesser teams are being eliminated and the better teams are playing increasingly tougher opponents in more closely matched, pressure-packed games. The Zips are certainly not invincible. But if the way they are playing right now is part of KD's master plan for the season, and if they continue peaking both individually and as a team right on through the MAC tournament, it's another good sign of his coaching abilities. Captain Kangaroo
I think the "Crapped Down Their Leg" tag line can be put to rest for the remainder of the 2009-10 season. In succession -- Won a tight game AT Ball StateWon a tight game AT Central MichiganWon an OT game vs. OUWon a tight game AT MiamiVery impressive win streak for the Zippers. We are starting to peak at the right time.VCU is critical to us remaining on a roll. For Mid-major recognition, and for our own confidence going into the Buffalo and K.e.n.t. games. Zip Watcher
I agree .. things appear to be running smoothly at the right time. There's something to be said for playing & winning close games on the road. Some recent Zips teams got in stretches where they either blew the other team off the floor or lost a closely fought battle. This team seems comfortable in the tight contest.A VCU win would be a nice addition to the run. VCU's dropped back slightly, but it would be a high quality road win leading up to the final 2 weeks.Aside from Roberts new (or re) injury .. the Zips appear to me to be healthy and mostly rested for the stretch run. Conyers is putting up big minutes lately, but most of the rest of the team are well under 30 mpg. B) Go Zips!
Quickzips
The only thing that concerns me a little bit right now is whether all of these close wins might be masking some problems for us. I'm not sure what those problems would be, but personally I felt like the only one of the last 4 that should have been close was Miami. Maybe you can argue Ohio or, based on the way they had been playing, Ball State, but I still feel like we should have been the superior team to those guys. I felt like we should have had at least 2 blowouts over these last four. Maybe I just got a bit pampered by some of our earlier results. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing us win tight games, but you have to admit that any regression from this team would mean that we would be losing these close games. Not a lot of margin for error. Not a lot of margin for error. They trailed @ Miami for a grand total of 21 seconds. Winning by 5 at Miami is like winning by 15 at BG. It was a solid win in a game largely dictated by the Zips and their defense.

Value judgments may vary dramatically between individuals, even when judgments of fact are undisputed. The most common example of this phenomenon is the "Is the glass half empty or half full?" situation. The degree in which situations like these are evaluated as something good or something bad can be described in terms of one's optimism or pessimism respectively. Throughout history, the pessimistic disposition has had effects on all major areas of thinking

And, after beating OU on the road a month ago, we struggled against them at home. In fact, I think OU might be good enough to beat any of us on a neutral court in Cleveland...and they aren't going to be a high seed.It should be a typical MAC tournament...any one of 6-8 teams are good enough to win it.
