Dave in Green Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Wow. After#1 Alabama loses last week, this week's #1 (Kansas State) and #2 (Oregon) both lose tonight. Time for Notre Dame haters to retire to their bomb shelters. The suddenly relevant Irish are the only undefeated team left, and will be the new #1. Quote
GP1 Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Time for Notre Dame haters to retire to their bomb shelters. The suddenly relevant Irish are the only undefeated team left, and will be the new #1. I wouldn't say there are ND haters per say....just haters of their obnoxious fans. In all reality, it isn't bad for ND to become relevant once every 20 years. It is a good reminder of how absolutely horrible their fans are. They are the worst of the worst. Brian Kelly has done a good job at ND. He is a good example of how far a coach will go to win. He is willing to kill a student manager in order to get video tape of a practice. If that isn't dedication and drive, I don't know what is. Roy Williams was almost put in stocks for not being the last one off the floor after another team's fans rush the court and a student manager was left behind and the last one off the court. Kelly doesn't watch out for the well being of a student manager and the ND PR machine goes in full gear protecting him. Anything to win so I guess I agree with the ND PR machine. I'd MIGHT be willing to look the other way if a student manager or two was killed if the Zips could win even 8 games. The knee jerk reaction of every ND honk reading my post is going to be to come on and defend ND and that horrible human being, Brian Kelly. In preparation for that moment, I'd just like to tell all of you to go away. If you want to discuss ND, there are plenty of websites to do that. Now, please, please, please, please, please go away. I'm pretty sure that team in Columbus is still undefeated. ND is quite possibly the worst undefeated team of all time (right there with OSU this year, actually). I expect them to A) lose to USC or get destroyed by Bama in the NC. Its a little early to call for the haters to retire to bomb shelter. Quote

zippy5 Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 I went to the Pitt game in ND two weeks ago. ND fans up there are awesome. They are the ones that actually went to UND or live around South Bend. I'd recommend that road trip to any fan. They were just all awesome and welcoming. I might have heard "welcome to Notre Dame" about 30 times. They genuinely hoped you enjoyed the visit. That said, the subway ND fans that bring their t-shirts out of the attic whenever they get in the top 15 are the worst of the worst. They root for the Celtics, Yankees, Cowboys...Just complete ***holes. For this reason, I root for ND to lose every game they play. Quote

I think the only people more mad than the ND haters are Big10 fans. They've been in denial for the past decade and continually like to brag about how much better they are than the SEC. Even after the SEC has won so many championships in a row, they still won't admit how far superior they are. Looks like 2012 may be yet another SEC championship! Quote

Zipfaced Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Isn't the WAC going to be dropping football within the next few years? If not this is a terrible move. Smaller FBS conferences are going overboard adding schools that have no business playing at this level. Do we really need over 120 schools? Does Utah Valley and UTSA deserve to move up? I guess I wouldn't care as much, but it really angers me that a school like Charlotte will be joining CUSA. Doesn't give us much hope, when a school yet to establish a football program is already in a better conference than us. How is it that the CUSA after this year (adding someone like Charlotte) make them a better conference than the mac? Starting next year they will be a mess and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it. The mac may end up being one of the better non AQ football conferences. The bottom needs to make significant improvements for that to happen. Quote
GP1 Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 The mac may end up being one of the better non AQ football conferences. The bottom needs to make significant improvements for that to happen. Maybe....Probably not. Throwing caution to the wind and predicting the MAC will become a solid mid level conference in football ignores the history of the MAC and what appears to be the natural order of the Conference. In the Low Country of South Carolina, the swamps are either ebbing (water flowing out) or flowing (water flowing in). They never stay the same. Right now, the MAC is flowing. I would go as far as to say the MAC may have reached high tide. The good news for the Zips is our program SHOULD begin to flow while the remainder of the league is ebbing. Timing can be a good thing. Dr Z Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Odd, I don't see tOSU anywhere in the BCS standings. Columbus State football fans are petitioning President Obama to pardon its undefeated football team so it can play in an BCS bowl game (per Jimmy Traina of SI.) The petition got removed today. This gives me a few ideas... Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 Like a few of us predicted back when they made these short-sighted plans/decisions over the last year or so, Boise St, SDSU and BYU are exploring a "return" to the MWC. Edit: I see DiG beat me to this on another thread. Quote

Wally B Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 It's always fun to look back and see what the experts thought ESPN Nov. 14 For the first time in a long time, the Big East seems secure. There are no realignment rumors percolating, and the future playoff system does not really seem to warrant a conference like the Big 12 needing to expand at this very moment. The SEC and ACC are simply not going beyond 14 teams right now. The Big Ten is happy with 12. So is the Pac-12. We could be entering a no expansion zone for the first time in quite a while. That will only help the Big East re-brand itself and rebuild itself. Quote
MDZip Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Tulane is now heading to the Big East. No history of success or tradition or much of anything, so this appears to be about nothing but market. I would be surprised if neither Akron or Can't had been contacted as well. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Big East adds ECU for football and Tulane for all sports. Will C-USA respond? Edit: MDZip with the quick-draw on me! (but you left out ECU ) Quote
LZIp Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 I dont really see any benefit to go to the Big East now since it has lost its AQ status. The MAC should stay put as they are showing the conference is on the upswing. Quote
g-mann17 Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 MAC well on its way to being the number 1 non-AQ conference in FBS. When the Big Least is adding Tulane, that is grasping at straws. Quote
