According to WTAM 1100 AM, the Miami Heat are in Cleveland until their game on Friday. Will Lebron and Wade show tonight at the JAR? How will the fans treat them?

Hopefully like free thinking Akronites who have not given into the Cleveland brainwashing of "Cleveland+". :puke: Hopefully like people who realize LeBron works out with our basketball team over the summer. Hopefully like folks who realize LBJ is friends with our team and tight friends with KD. Hopefully as people who appreciate he got us a basketball contract with Nike (Nike couldn't have cared less about us when he got that for UA). Hopefully as people who appreciate his involvement with the children of the Akron Public Schools. Hopefully as people who appreciate the parks he's renovated around the inner-city. Hopefully as people who appreciate the basketball camp he hosts on campus & the AA Tourney he puts his name on to bring a thousand basketball-playing students to UA every year (though the NCAA stepped in on that one). Hopefully as Akronites who appreciates LBJ name dropping AKRON on the nation's radar every chance he gets. Hopefully as people who recognize a potential big-fish donor. Hopefully as Akronites who actually have a shred of self respect and don't happily and eagerly bend over for Cleveland.

I don;t care if they show. I'm there to support the Zips!. If I want to see LBJ and Wade, I'll go to the Cav's game on Friday.

True, but the exposure from them going to a Zips game would be great for the program. Personally, I'm a big Cleveland fan. Grew up rooting for the pro teams and still do. Therefore, I can't stand LeBron. That said, if he comes to a Zips game I'll give him nothing but respect.

I always love your posts on this topic. Harsh, but a reminder of some of the idiocy that exists among Cleveland sports fans. Probably the biggest celebrity in all of sports loves to talk about the Zips. We couldn't be more fortunate.

You forgot to mention that Cleveland fans could actually use this as an opportunity to thank the guy for spending 7 years of his Hall of Fame career playing for the team that resides at the Mistake on the Lake.

Did I see a LBJ "shrine" on the wall in the Zips lounge on Monday's KD show?

I saw that, too.

I didn't like the way LeBron left Cleveland (Cavaliers fans didn't deserve that), but I'm okay with his attending any Zips' games. I'd hope that he might help us out in whatever way he can with replacing the JAR in the near future.

I would love for Lebron to pay for a new Arena.

It would be named

KING JAMES' PALACE

You need to start from the beginning of ZN, but I'll summarize: Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Boston, Miami, Dallas, NY...Plenty of sports fans on ZN are not pro Cleveland.

Oh, so you mean they dont root for teams from the area they are from and its ok? Kind of like how some people from the akron area root for OSU and they are the worst fans ever? Ironic.

Cleveland expects for people from Akron to cheer for their sports,

Ohio State expects people from Akron to cheer for their sports.

They are the exact same.

Fight the cult, cheer for Akron and other teams that are not Cleveland.

I remember when LeBron James said he would have gone to Ohio State had he gone to college. I remember looking at this link and realizing our partnership with Nike didn't have much to do with LeBron, considering Ball State is a Nike school as well (and Adidas was/is an option for sponsorship). I remember reading the news a few weeks back that he was moving his summer camp "temporarily" to Las Vegas (sorry guys, it's not coming back here). I remember zero recruits signing with Akron that listed LBJ's small connection to the school as a reason for why they came. I remember the number of times the "big fish donor" has given money to our university because unless I'm mistaken, it has happened zero times. I remember LeBron being at zero Zips home games since Travis and Joyce graduated. I remember "The Decision" being one of the most egotistical, narcissistic moves ever made by a professional athlete. Finally, I remember both of the last two NCAA Tournament appearances where the hard work of our players and our coaching staff was overlooked because of a perceived connection to LeBron James.

Listen, I appreciate that he has donated bikes and money to different charities. You certainly can't fault him for that. But I also think it's silly to say a person doesn't have self-respect if they don't bow down to the self-proclaimed King. He's a selfish, egotistical person who uses our facilities at times during the summer and tweets about UA on occasion ("Every chance he gets" is a stretch).

But let's be clear - he hasn't delivered us recruits and he hasn't donated money to the school...his overall impact on this program has been minimal at best.

You are free to support him if you'd like, and I can certainly respect that...but let's stop acting like there is something wrong with a person if they don't like LBJ.
