zippy5
5,403 came out to see a 7-12 Buffalo team. Maybe some came because of the bobbleheads, but I would guess we would have had close to 5k anyway. They witnessed a really fun game to watch. Speculation on remaining attendance? OU CMU BG Bracketbusters Miami Can't I think the weekend MAC games all sell out. Depending on the opponent in the bracketbuster, maybe close to 5k again. If we keep winning, we might see some really impressive numbers. I think the all important "Joe Akron" is interested. Keep winning!

K92
Strange, if they were too late can't get mad at anyone but themselves. I guess they opened the doors a little early because there was a line outside waiting, so some of the folks who showed up at the stated time of the doors opening at 6 o'clock were still too late. I think opening the doors early was what really pissed some people off.

Unless they were planning on cutting in front of people who had already lined up in front of them? My wife and I got there at 5:15 assuming this would happen. There was no shortage of people trying to muscle in front, so they really didn't have a choice on opening early. Could've gotten ugly...over a bobblehead. FromdaBurgh
So, my husband gets to our seat and tells me that I am suppose to go and get my bobblehead from the table on the first floor. When I get there the young man tells me...and I quote. "some white lady already came down and said that she was picking up 3 bobbleheads for Zeke's mom". I asked him did he know this woman and he said he had no idea who she was but that she was "supposedly" told to pick up bobbleheads for me! 1. I had no idea who this woman was/is. 2. I would NEVER send someone to do anything for me during a game. I am both disappointed and angry that ANYONE would use me as a way to STEAL. Just pray I don't EVER find out who it was that did it! #You should be ashamed#

OU - 5,500 - This one is almost sold out already, and it is still 6 days from tipoff. CMU - 3,900 - Tuesday night game, less attendance. Could be higher if OU ends up as an exciting win in front of a sellout crowd BG - 4,400 - Saturday game. Opponent is somewhat known to the fan base. If we keep winning at this pace momentum will be growing in the community. Bracketbusters - 3,200 - Probably our lowest attendance the rest of the year. Bracketbusters never draw well. No names out there that the casual fan will recognize. Could be more or less depending on tip time. Miami - 4,000 - Another Tuesday night game. Attendance could suffer as the casual fan has been turned off to Miami basketball after years watching Charlie Coles teams and doesn't realize that Coles has retired. Can't - 5,500 - Can't almost always sells out, but if their team doesn't pick it up and show some more competitiveness this could be a disappointing draw. Dave in Green
So we're back to the age old question about announced attendance vs. butts in seats. Announced attendance is usually tickets sold, not butts in seats. A certain percentage of season ticket holders do not show up for all games for a variety of reasons. While there were clearly a few gaps in the reserved seats, the general admission sections were impressively packed.
Z.I.P.
So fifty-five hundred is now a "sellout"? When did they take out the 1000- 1500 seats that used to be there in the old days? I was there the night the place opened vs BeeGee with over 6500 I recall. This reminds me of the Rubber Bowl attendance thread where I wrote about the Browns-Giants game with 45,000 fans. Dr Z
While there were clearly a few gaps in the reserved seats, the general admission sections were impressively packed. The first half I couldn't help thinking, we have a few hundred news fans here tonight and, to steal the quote, we are pi$$ing down our legs. I hope they stuck around for the finish, because that's the entertainment you come out to see when you buy a ticket to a game. Nice work team. Dave in Green
@Z.I.P., as far as I know, the fire marshall says 5,500 is the max capacity. I don't see any empty space where any seats were taken out. @Dr Z, we were commenting on the way out how packed the general admission seats were right up until the end of the game. We figured there were a lot of non-hardcore fans there for the promotion and that they'd bail out early. But most of them stayed right up to the end. Very impressive. zippy5
I can't see only 4400 coming out for the BG game. Unless we think that 1,100 extra people came just for the lebron bobbleheads. Same circumstances as the UB game.. Saturday night, mediocre MAC team, I'd bet 5K again, especially if we beat OU.

Also, they are giving away Coach Dambrot's bobblehead at the BGSU game. The two bobbleheads are a set, so all the people who showed up for LBJ bobbleheads will have to come back for the KD bobblehead But on a serious note, if they can somehow keep this win streak going until the February 16th meeting with BGSU, I don't see any reason why the JAR wouldn't be filled to capacity on February 16th. Hopefully they can just keep the momentum moving forward game after game.
BirdZip
So...did everyone get their bobblehead? I entered the JAR at approximately 6:10 and was told we were too late for bobbleheads, making some of the people entering around me very unhappy and very vocal about it. We just kinda accepted the fact that we missed the boat when we heard that we needed to go up to the north end where they still had vouchers left. Sure enough, walked up there, got the voucher & redeemed it for the promo. Hopefully, everyone who was there early and wanted one ended up getting one. Got there about the same time but didn't get the north side tip. Was disappointed for the kids I brought but realize it was my own fault for when I arrived. What I don't understand is why limit it to 1500? If it was a marketing thing, you can still say 1500 but have more. If someone does come that normally doesn't, don't tick them off. On a related note to the attendance, if the JAR is going to be more packed like this on a regular basis, they need to find a better way to allow freedom of movement. If you're a lowly GA season ticket holder like me, the track in front of the upper chairbacks was off limits. That means everyone had to use the track on the other side, but that track was full of standing people. The camera people building their cameras right on that track didn't help either. I understand worrying about people going into seats they don't have tickets for, but if you're going to force traffic to one area, you need to keep that area open. Good problems to have, though... It's okay UA is going to build an arena of 3000. That should take care of all the problems.

morris buttermaker
1500? why?... the cost to make 4000 couldn't be much more. I would have run 4000.. 1500 at the game and the next 2500 to anyone that buys tickets to 3 remaining games while supplies last
