Dave in Green
Hey, didn't mean to sound so abrupt on that last post. Got called away from the computer and sent it before I should have. I meant to point out that, per the dictionary definition, you can have multiple rivals. They can be differentiated by adjectives. For example, Can't is the Zips' traditional rival, but not the only rival. I consider the biggest rival at any given time to be the most competitive one that stands between the Zips and something that only one can possess. In the case of MAC basketball, OU has been the Zips' biggest rival for the MAC championship over the past few seasons. Hope that clears things up. akzipper
They hate us much more than we hate them. Akron-Can't will always be the biggest rivalry in the MAC. When I was at UA a few years ago, no one really cared about OhioU. To us it was just another MAC game, which is really my feeling still. zippy5
It reminds me of the penguins/capitals rivalry. The flyers will always be the pens' #1 rival, but the ovechkin/crosby factor upped that rivalry for a couple years. The games were more exciting than the flyers games, as the flyers has a down year or two. The caps fans were also overly infatuated with everything pittsburgh, which has some interesting parallels but the caps and ovi have fallen off, and the it feels right hating the flyers again. I look forward to OU dropping off, and hating Can't again. OU is a fun little rivalry, but they're just the flavor of the week, in my opinion. That statement was cogent. Whether it was valuable depends on the individual poster. I would imagine you already knew what I stated to be cogent, so I could see how it isn't valuable to you. bUAkronG
I am extremely interested to see the line for this one when it comes out. Vegas has been on the money for us this year, as the Zips are 18-0 as favorites and 0-3 as underdogs. http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketbal...zips/win-trends I am thinking the line will be OU -1, so I'm hoping that if that's the case that the Zips can prove Vegas wrong! FearTheRoo
I'm in Vegas all week on business. Maybe I should hit the sports book? I typically suck at it and always lose money. Maybe I should stay away.......jinks......

Blue & Gold
As KD points out, OU is a "spurty" team. They didn't have a single spurt against Belmont. Unfortunately there is no way they'll play that poorly 1) two games in a row, 2) at home, and 3) against us. However, Belmont (who is not a big team) exploited OU's lack of height (and toughness) and I'm expecting us to do the same thing again on Wednesday night. Besides Keeley (sp?), they've got no one who wants to set a foot in the paint. And Zeke ate Keeley alive last time we played.
zippy5
The more I think about it, the more I think OU just isn't on OUr (hehe) level. Last year, we would play a lot of help defense, leading us to get burnt on open threes when OU reversed the ball well. Zeke and Tree are just on another level that Zeke of 2011-2012 and Cvetinovic (no offense Nik) were. With Pat and Harney down low too, we don't have to double anyone. We have length on the wings, and our backup PG might be our best on-ball defender. Zeke and Tree will eat Baltic and Keely alive again, and as a result, shut down their inside-out game again because we don't have to respect the OU post game. OU's only shot is to get unconscious from 3-land, which however, isn't entirely impossible as we've seen. It's gonna take a heck of a game plan, because I really don't see many advantages OU has in this matchup.
ZippyRulz
I am thinking the line will be OU -1, so I'm hoping that if that's the case that the Zips can prove Vegas wrong! I would take OU in that case, given the recent history in Athens and the target on our backs. OTOH, if OU goes off as big favorites based on past history, I would take the Zips. We won't be getting blown out this time.

Also, the Bobkittens are 18-1 as favorites and 13-0 as home favorites, compared to being 0-4 as underdogs. I am even more nervous to see the lines than ever before. bUAkronG
What if it's a "pick em?" Good question. I have been followinglines all year and iI don't think I've ever seen a CBB line as a PK...

Captain Kangaroo
Go Zips. Beat Ohio U. I hope the Zips win, but I really hope Zeke gets called for another technical for hanging on the rim. Otherwise there'll be nothing to discuss between Wednesday night, and Saturday's Buffalo game. Zipgrad1990
Based on Sagarin Ratings: OU 79.46+3.31 for home court = 82.77 Akron 81.57 82.77-81.57= 1.2 so OU is favored by 1.2 which is in line with the 1 to 2 points everyone on here projects. As far as betting on the game, I don't like to bet on the Zips but when I do I bet a small amount against them. That way I don't mind taking the loss if the Zips win and it lessens the pain slightly if they lose. <<<- We need one of these with OU on it!
