New Uniforms Coming

Blue & Gold

Recommended Posts

Being the 20th or 30th team to go black for black's sake is lame. (Same with gray for gray's sake.) Be creative using the school colors if "new and exciting" is so important. I am not a big fan of the chrome helmet or the Z logo look but I get that the players like them. So go gold chrome with a blue Z. Do something flashy with gold on a blue jersey. (Maybe chrome gold cloth is possible?). Or even a gold jersey with blue accents.

By the way, I really like the white helmet with white uniform look, even with the Z logo.

Colors mean something. There ought to be an emotional response in the teams followers to them. Once the fad dies, black or gray is not going to do it even for those that get excited about it now.

Much prefer the ARoo Head logo to the Z. I think the Z is a ZERO (almost fit the last six games). A few more losing seasons and I'll be totally onboard with the black uniforms, Z(ERO) logo and penis head zipper on the helmets as the perfect UA football uniform.

But I would say that I was against the "Z" logo as a primary logo, now I'm indifferent. I still think the Primary logo (A-Roo) should continue being the primary logo for the program. I like it.

The only thing I wish the Black uniforms would have done, is put "Fear the Roo" logo on the shoulders. I saw a mock-up of that design, and loved it. The black uniforms were a little bland, but I don't necessarily dislike them...just make them more uniquely Akron...

I also believe the old uniforms were getting outdated and a change may have been due. I just wanted the new uniforms to be based on the school colors and the traditional Akron font. The font is probably the most uniquely Akron thing to me and I'd like to see it stay around. I prefer the 'A-Roo' to the 'Z' but I can live with the 'Z' as well.

While I was at the school we still had the 'running A' and the "gold" looked awfully yellow. While I thought the running A was just OK, I definitely like the color schemes now better than that bright yellow passing for gold.

The one thing I don't like the most about the new helmets I have seen pictured is the numbers on the side. I have never been a fan of uniform numbers being so prevalent on a football helmet. I'd rather have every player on the team have the same thing on their headgear.

I'm sure you're referring to the "Moving A"?

We made a nice transition into an "Old Gold" color when we first turned D-1A during the Faust years. We then went back to the "Athletic Gold" (Yellow) during the Owens years. It looked even worse the 2nd time, and didn't last long, fortunately. I pray we never go back.

Just look at any Ken+ uniform for a few minutes, and you'll see what I mean. :puke:

I've gotten a chance to look closer at the "Fear The Roo" ones...I do think they are matte Blue and not black. So those are my favorites! I'm personally happy with three core (and very different) helmets:

White Full Kangaroo and number

Matte Blue/Fear The Roo

Chrome with the Z logo

I'm a fan of all three :thumb:

For those of you against the full Kangaroo logo...get over it. That was one of the first logos I identified with a zips fan other than the ARoo, because I thought a Kangaroo mascot was so unique.
