Not in the thousands, like we need. I agree and have not seen any signs of that happening. We can't even get the local reporter to act like our wins are wins.

Same scenario, win, you are in. If that many showed up under those conditions(some of us are still around) they can get a decent crowd on a far better Tuesday night. You're right, Lee. It is the same situation. And truthfully, a Tuesday night should draw better than Thanksgiving DAY (when the blizzard bowl was played). I'll keep hoping. I expect more than the OU game. For those who think that 15k should be expected, they are going to be sorely disappointed. Under the best weather conditions, I will hold out hope that we can get somewhere close to 10k in the seats. kreed5120
A lot has changed in 12 years. More and more people prefer to watch games in the comfort of their own home on their 55 inch 4K TV instead of actually attending live sporting events.

Just beat Ohio U Earned bowl eligibility for the second time in three years One win away from securing the MAC East title Playing cross-town rival Kent State at home Weather won’t be horrible New on campus stadium Exciting football Anything less than 15K in the seats would be a disgrace. On a Tuesday Night...the week of Thanksgiving. Like saying anything less then 15k is a disgrace is setting it up to call it a disgrace. We'll never draw more than 10k on a Tuesday night. No way. We'll never draw more than 10k on the Week of Thanks giving. No way. What we all should be pissed about, and immediately complaining (as fans) to the AD and MAC Commissioner, is why Kent got the Home Rivalry game vs us scheduled in like September last year? (early in the year) which drew a respectable crowd by Kent standards (because more of our fans and theirs will show up for a warm weather Saturday game), and we got stuck with a November, just before thanksgiving schedule in the newer stadium. The Rivalry Game should be played on a Saturday, in warmer weather. More people will show up. Edited November 16, 2017 by Balsy
kreed5120
I actually think having it the week of Thanksgiving helps. More people have off work and more people who are from the area and went to Akron are back in town for the holidays. That being said, IMO it would take a nationally ranked Akron team for us to draw 15k on a Tuesday night in mid November. And that's not Kent I actually agree with you that people are coming into town for the Holiday weekend, which would seem to add some potential fans. But an Akron football game is not going to be high on their agenda. And unfortunately, people are also leaving town for the Holiday weekend too. If it were on Wednesday night, yes, that would be great. Most are off on Thursday, and typically many go out the night before Thanksgiving. I assume most have to work Wednesday. Last Tuesday I worked 8 hours, drove 40 minutes to the game, photographed game, drove home, developed photography, uploaded to site at 1:30, bed by 2 am, up at 6 am to work another 8 hour day. It will be the same this Tuesday. I don't blame anybody for not going to a Tuesday night game. I hope we pack the stadium for Kent, but I expect the same as last week, or less.

And the campus would be deserted by game time. There would be ZERO chance of getting any students to this game if it were on Wednesday. I don't want to argue over Tuesday vs. Wednesday, because neither will produce a blockbuster difference. But 7pm Wednesday would be a disaster.

Or maybe it is just the tailgating!

zippy5
Most events are better in person. But there's a point when it's 45 degrees out, that it's not as fun to drive an hour, sit through less than ideal weather, then drive an hour back to get to bed after midnight and wake up at 6 for work. I don't blame folks for not going. I'm off Wednesday so this will be my first mid-week MACtion I've attended
a-zip
Funny.....as I rewind the list of excuses that generally come up.... regardless of whether it is football, basketball or soccer....a meaningful game or a meaningful opponent always comes up. This game has both with the convenience of the opponent being 15 miles away. I bet if Lebron said he was going to take a dump on the 50 yard line at the Info on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week...there would be 35K and a waiting line to watch
