MDZip
Elton posted an article that claims only three QB's in the MAC are incumbents, Terrell at WMU, Rush and CMU and Woodson. Even as he mentions both OU and EMU have lost theirs (to injury and suspension) this Hustlebelt article details that pretty much everybody has last years starter back (although a couple has starters from previous years too). Looks to me like there is some significant QB experience in the conference. THOMAS WOODSON / Akron Ht., Wt., Yr.: 6-1, 225, Junior Hometown: Monroeville, Pa. Did you know: Akron held Woodson back from the starting unit in 2015 because of his weight. Once he dropped 30 pounds, along with the ineffective play of others, Woodson returned as Akron's starter and held the job all season. NFL projection: NFLdraftscout.com No. 46 About the Zips: While the defense truly anchors this team, it's really all about the 'O' for coach Terry Bowden, who talks about the run, but almost always looks to pass. With the strong-armed Woodson locked in as the starter and a bevy of quality wide receivers, Akron should be one of the high-scoring offensive units in the MAC. The added plus is, if needed, Woodson has no problem dropping his shoulders into the line for tough yardage.

ZachTheZip
Considering Akron was the only MAC East team to win last week, this is a no-brainer. I hope he can keep it up.

Dr Z
After three weeks into the 2016 season, Thomas Woodson is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency. One spot ahead of JT Barrett. But Thomas is not the most efficient in the state of Ohio. That honor belongs to Toledo's Logan Woodside, who matches up against Woodson in Akron Nov 2nd. If you are wondering how Akron has won their last 6 out of 7 games, efficient play at the quarterback position would be a great place to start. I don't think I have ever seen a better long ball thrown by a quarterback in an Akron uniform.

His long ball went from good to beautiful this year and his decision-making, which was good last year, has become even better. This kid will graduate an elite MAC QB. I am very happy for him. His work has paid off.

Never seems like he has to rear back and really heave it. And yes, he decision-making this year has improved a great deal.

Woodson 20th in passing yards. Jerome and Jojo both in the top 30 in receiving yards per game. JoJo listed on leaders in points per game, Woodson 8th in Points Responsible for Per Game, lots of others. And all this with the Wisconsin game mixed in. However, Tommy can throw a stronger strike across the center of the field than anyone we have seen in a while, as well. Tommy has nothing to thsow, though, if receivers drop balls. His receivers have done a nice job showing him off. There seems to be great chemistry between Tommy and the WR corps. 3 hours ago, MDZip said: Four MAC quarterbacks in the Top 16. I know your trying to be funny, and this is not the correct thread for this. But back in October of 2000, when SI was a must read, Dwight Smith had an article entitled 'Akron's Interception King Smith Having a Breakout Year'. I thought some might enjoy the article. I also remember Jamal Ball in an issue, and I'm sure Jason Taylor has been in multiple times.
kreed5120
Does a bruised shoulder typically take this long to heal or is there potentially a more significant injury we are not aware of? Just seems strange for Woodson to miss so much time when he apparently he was close enough to be healthy vs. Kent to be game time decision. Not that I'm questioning the medical staff or Woodson desire to play. Just confused about this situation.

Which if the case, it could take 2-4 months to fully heal, and multiple weeks to feel comfortable enough to return to athletic activity.
