Game 7—Western Michigan Broncos (2016)

Do not know if anyone followed the SDSU/Wyoming game, but outside of Boise losing, about the best thing that could have happened for WMU just happened. Wyoming winning this game against 9-1 SDSU substantially increases their chances of winning their Mountain West divison that Boise is in. It also stops SDSU from most likely being ranked if they were to play Boise St in the championship game where the winner could have got the auto bid.

The potential game winning hail mary for SDSU was called incomplete, luckily. Pretty controversial as I believe we caught it but inconclusive evidence.

So if Wyoming beats new mexico in the season finale Boise State is eliminated from New Years Six consideration since you MUST be a conference champ to be the G5 representative. This would clearly put WMU in the driver's seat if (and that's a big IF) they win out. If Wyoming beats UNM the closest competition for WMU would probably be Navy.

So as I was worried, Houston actually went from unranked up to 20 with their stomping of  Louisville. Boise at 19 and WMU at 21. Keep rooting for Navy and Wyoming.

Rooting for Navy to keep winning but keep winning close games, they aren't far back themselves.

The most grating thing about watching Western is seeing them step up when it matters.  Gameday came to town and their fans looked the part on National television.  With all the distractions associated with that show, they dispatched Buffalo as they should have.  Tonight, they dominated a pretty damn good Toledo team to seal the perfect record.  They are not a normal MAC program.  So many times, a MAC team stumbles when it matters most.  Not these guys.

Think of our Zips.  Every time they get an opportunity to take the next step they fail.  I take that back.  They won the Potato Bowl last year.  Or should I say, Jatavis Brown won the Potato Bowl last year.  Without his strip and Coe's return, the Zips lose.  But then again, the Zips probably lose 8-10 more games under Bowden if it wasn't for Jatavis.  Thank God for the staff identifying his talent and bringing him in.

I'm so freaking jealous.  Why not Akron?  What does Western have that Akron doesn't?  Absolutely nothing.  How did they catch lightning in a bottle with Fleck?

These are the ramblings of a very frustrated Zips fan.  I'm tired of losing.  4 wins better than the worst ever D1 coach ain't good enough.  I will never understand how mediocrity can be acceptable to any fan.  Excuses attempt to explain it away.  That's what Zips fans do best.

I'm not trying to call anyone out or put anyone down.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  Watching WMU tonight just got on my last nerve.  Congrats to them though.  I hope their fans enjoy every drop of that Championship nectar.

Come on keener... We just came off our best season ever and have beaten a whole 2 teams in 5 years with a winning record. I mean... I-coach was really bad. Can't you just be happy with our progress? ?

I watched the WMU-Toledo game. The thing that struck me is how far away the Akron program still is in being able to CONSISTENTLY compete with MAC teams the caliber of WMU,Toledo,OU etc. Doesn't matter who the coaches are at those programs. Doesn't matter if Fleck will be at WMU or not. Doesn't matter if we like Solich and OU because we can't beat 'em. Programs like those, but not just those are CONSISTENTYLY better than Akron. Why is that? Recruiting? Coaching? What? Help!

Kzoo has Bells brewery...

Reading a a few articles this evening hoping WMU can make a good bowl game and somebody mentioned something I've sort of considered in the past.  The G5 schools should have their own Bowl game(s) which pit the best G5 teams against one another.

Personally, I think the G5 schools need to go tell the P5 schools to pound sand.  We all know that 1/2 of the big 10 teams are MAC caliber teams.  The top B10 schools play 2 OOC MAC schools then 4-5 crappy B10 schools and BOOM, 7 wins and bowl game.  If the G5 schools have basically no shot at a national championship, then why pretend?  Let the P5 schools beat up on each other and let the G5 schools boost their records and go to more bowl games.  I know,  I know,  the G5 schools need the money but maybe if we play only the crappy P5 schools we could make it work...
