KD indicated on the post game that was the play if Big Dog had single coverage.  Give him the ball and let him take the last shot.  He indicated postgame that he practices that shot all the time in practice and knew it was good as soon as it left his hand.

I wish somebody (1350/the U) would put up a replay of the post game show. I don't get to listen to it all the time, and I am always interested when KD talks.

Big Dog on his free throw problems, “I just get up there and my mind starts racing the previous miss or whatever. I’m not focusing on the shot,” Johnson said. “So it’s hard to make something when you’re not focused on it.”

I would like to see him look at the rim a little longer before letting go of the ball.

Quote from Big Dog about his free throw problems, which confirms what we thought: “I just get up there and my mind starts racing the previous miss or whatever. I’m not focusing on the shot,” Johnson said. “So it’s hard to make something when you’re not focused on it.”

Regarding the BSU players at game's end chirping at him while at the FT line, I liked where Dog said (in the post game interview) - "After missing the first one, that actually helped me focus."

Pluto says part of the reason Akron is so good is “two guys who don’t take many 3-point shots” -- Kwan Cheatham and Isaiah “Big Dog” Johnson

I don't think Kwan and don't take many 3's belong in the same sentence. He leads the team in attempts.

I'm right there close enough to see and hear the whole thing.  They stepped into the lane after the miss and really started talking some sh^t and clapping and laughing.

I was like, "Oh No".  But obviously it didn't bother him.

Of course,  this heads up play by Noah followed that bone headed soft pass to Kwan that almost cost us the game. But who was paying attention?

I don't know too many kids who could have all of the scenarios/rules in their mind, and make a play like Noah did.  Your first instinct would clearly be to grab the ball and end the game.  Unbelievable.  I guess that's why Keith calls him the brains of the team.

Word.  And it says a lot that he could forget his last mistake so quickly and be completely in that moment.

On another note, Josh when not taking 3s had some good minutes

Taking an 18-footer near the baseline for a last second game winner helps him focus too, apparently. Then again, if he makes more free throws it wouldn't come down to that. Very ironic.

If LeBron had made a basic layup against the Wizards, we'd have been cheated out of an outrageous, I-Can't-Believe-I-Just-Saw-That basketball game Monday night.

If Big Dog made his FT's, what fun would last night have been? Just another ho hum drive back up Route 8 after a Zips home win...

This is actually a really good thing to keep in mind.

If this game had gone as I had hoped, I would have left about a minute before the end, been in bed by 10pm, and it would have been just another night, and this would have been just another day.  Instead, I left the arena in a sweat, I couldn't fall asleep until 1am, I'm tired as hell today, and I'm loving every minute of it, and reliving it in my head over and over (especially with all of the videos).

If we want to attract new people to Akron basketball, it's the images of such a fun atmosphere like this that will turn them towards the JAR on game nights.  Not the fact that they read that we beat some average MAC team by 20 when they pick up the paper in the morning.

Everyone.....Do all that WE can do and keep passing/posting those video clips to your friends.  It's the least we can do.

I'm with you. I just hope my heart can withstand the full season the way every game seems to come down to the wire.

Hey, look at how many of us old guys have claimed Cardiac Failure with all of the last minute finishes in recent years, especially with the do-or-die games in the MAC tournament.

But at the same time, those games are always by-far the most memorable.

I just hope I can continue to survive, like you said.

I couldn't make the game last night because of the 6 P.M. start, so I watched from my recliner with the game on a tablet with headphones while my wife watched The Bachelor or some other dumb show.  When Big Dog made that shot, I jumped out of my chair (which by this time had been de-reclined and I was sitting on the edge of) and gave a fist pump and yelled "Y-Y-Y-Y-E-E-E-E-E-S-S-S-S-S-S!!!!!!!"

My wife wasn't nearly as happy as I was.

That's why you have to make it to the game.  I have been kicking myself in the ass all day today because if I had left right after work, I could have made it just in time for tip-off, but I was being lazy and just went home.

Go Zips.

You are just one example why a 6pm start on a weeknight is ridiculous.  We fought traffic to get into the arena a few minutes before game time.

To keep a loyal fan like you from making it convenient to show up is why this could ruin mid-major college basketball.  The blue seats were as empty as they've been in several games.

You have got to be kidding me. Give me a ho-hum undefeated season with 20-point margins, a boring waltz through the MAC tournament, and 2 or 3 snoozer wins in the NCAA. Now that would attract some new fans. And get us ranked. And plenty of media exposure. And some great recruits. Maybe even some athletics department donations.
