As a Michigan fan, I can say with confidence that Brandon Peters closely resembles a bump on a log.

A little story you may find fascinating. One of the games I attended at UMich there was a fan who held a sign reading "send Peters to North Korea so he can overthrow their dictator." It was funny in the moment aha.

True fresh Michael Mathison, Xavior Gray, Kyshad Mack, and Ryan Beckman (walk on?) cracked the 2 deep. Floyd back up RB. Meeks and Hawkins starting DEs. Reggier Corner Jr starting Nickel. Demetrick Watts starting ILB.

Thanks for the chart LZip. Our DL JUCO's did not make this 2 deep (kudos to Stuhldreer-other lineman would show up in another defensive scheme I'm sure). Transfers and JUCO's need time to work into the rotation - I hope this is the case for the Illini too as they have a ton of transfers.

Looks like the TE won't be a mere afterthought in the new system.  A little surprised seeing Nick Johns @ #2 TE.  Good for him.

Sure wish Jonah Morris & Julian Hicks weren't banged up.  Our current top 3 WR's are proven commodities, but the #2's are all unknowns. [Edit: 2 of the 3 #2's; Boogie Knight's a known home run hitter.]

Having said that, I'm excited to see true freshman Michael Mathison in the 2-deep @ WR & @ punt & kickoff return.

Nice seeing true freshmen Xavier Gray & Kyshad Mack make the 2-deep!  Reggie Corner Jr. starting NB & Bubba #2 Inside LB.

They moved Jalen Hooks from S to CB & he won the starting job.  When he & Lubin (#2 CB) are on the field at the same time we've got some impressive height at CB.  Alvin Davis?  Not so much.  Lol.  He'll just have to settle with being the best player on the field.  Lol.

How about Jason Taylor catching the lone Akron TD in their last meeting in 1996?

Highly recommend reading the Zips Quick Hits section. Pretty cool all the connections we have on this team to guys like Archie Griffin, Bishop Sankey, etc.

As previously mentioned, good for Nick Johns for putting the work in to move over to TE & grab the #2 spot.

Big O-Line, and experienced on the left side.

7 starters return on offense (4 of the 5 starting OL return), and 3 starters return on defense (this doesn't include Featherstone, whom I thought started before getting injured?).

I personally wouldn’t put to much into the depth chart.  I could type for days but I think you will see on Saturday.  They have so many packages both offensively & defensively.  The other OLB didn’t even make the chart because they used nickel.  People like Sampson, plenty of times you will see Lako & Bubba both out there, on offense they use a lot of motion & there are times Scippio or Burkhart will be in with 1’s depending on package & I think you will see some more RB’s

i guess what i’m Saying is you won’t see the same delayed handoff over & over again, the WR won’t run the same route tree over & over, a lot of motion to pick up different fronts & man to man or zone

the defense is versatile to any situation instead of every situation being a version of the 4-3 with different personal packages based only on run or pass situation like we’ve seen in past

Wait! Wait! Did I miss something? Did they actually get an OC who knew how to call plays? What about this issue of using strategies that take advantage of the skills of the players? What a concept! Where the hell did that come from? Totally foreign to the former coaching staff.

Pretty good assessment overall and the score prediction makes more sense that what Vegas has out there.

I like these two things mentioned in the Hustlebelt article.

• The GPA for the first full semester under coach Arth improved dramatically when compared with the Fall 2018: ‘as a team, the spring roster combined for a 2.954 gpa, up from 2.466 from Fall 2018.’

• Akron’s offensive line is poised for significant improvement after the trial-by-fire that was the 2018 season. Redshirt freshman Hunter Corne and Shawn Muldowney played in 24 games last year while first-year Zip Bryce Petersen started 12 games. Given that the biggest jump in performance occurs in the second-year, I would expect to see significant progress.
