clarkwgriswold
39-21. Zips getting a little sloppy from boredom. Concord nice enough to show the Zips some zone and a press. Might as well get some work in against different stuff. 39-21, 3:27.

clarkwgriswold
Cole Meadows is a perfect name for a kid playing on a team from West Virginia. It could only be better if it's spelled C-o-a-l.

AyYo
Sub 2,000 attendance for the first time I can remember in the past 10 years at least. I guess a Sunday afternoon without students against a D2 team isn't a recipe for good attendance.
NWAkron
Sorry, Clark, left phone in the car. 1. Marquelle got the Zips to 100 and the crowd loved it. 2. Banks on fire from 3 3. Amazing assists 4. Tribble made a couple turnovers late. Groce lost it and called timeout. 5. Freeman is a crowd favorite. 6. So cool to see Sayles get a slam and play a good game. clarkwgriswold
I guess that's type of game is what you want coming out of exam week and going into a tough stretch of games, but it was a snoozer. Nice of Concord to give them some different looks- a press, some 2-3 zone and some 1-3-1 zone, etc. French and Dunn mentioned in the pregame that Dawson qualified coming out of high school but not out of prep school. Dunn said it would be a nice story for the Beacon. French then commented that the "rag" would only print negative stories about the Zips. Frenchy is continues his fond feelings for GT! LOL. Dawson was present, not in unform.

Not sure what would be of interest about his story at this point other than an example of all the rigmarole some kids go through to get into a school and get eligible these days. Doesn't sound like going to prep school helped much. Maybe I'm missing something. It will be a good story if he sticks around and contributes. His sister is doing a nice job for the women. In that case if he is enrolled for the next term for at least the minimum amount of hours required to be a full time student he is good to go athletically. I have followed Dayton and the A10 for quite a while and have never heard anybody refer to the A10 as a P5 conference. Is the A10 a (very) high mid major - yes, a consistent multiple bid conference - yep. Is the atmosphere at Dayton games P5 caliber - you bet, but several of the schools in the A10 play in facilities that resemble a small high school gym. Do you have a source for your P5 claim? FWIW - I didn't state the A-10 is a P5 conference in basketball, I said Dayton is a "P5" team in hoops. Source - They're ranked #14 in the most recent poll.

zipsrule
I arrived fairly early to the game with my 7 year old son. They asked him to take the game ball to the ref. As a result, my son and I got to watch the game from the front row, mid-court (As opposed to GA). Besides, the great vantage point, it was interesting listening to and watching Groce throughout the entire game. He was constantly talking to the players. Taking them into the plays, encouraging them, and even getting on them when he didn't like what he saw. I recall a timeout later in the second half where Tribble had a few turnovers and Groce called a time out. There are always teaching moments - even with a huge lead. From what I saw, I think this team has the ability to be special. They just need to continue to work.

I am sorry the committee has reviewed your post and find quotation marks unacceptable for moving a non P5 team to P5 status. Acceptable presentations would include the following: P5* P5-like P5 lite P5 ish * = not really
