Dawson had 30, but Martindale, Farrell, and Bass closed out the game.

 

Some dismal FT shooting kept Kent in striking distance.  Dicey for a few moments.

 

Zips have tiebreakers over Kent and Ball State.  They will need those.

Great win by the Zips to sweep the regular season against their arch rivals. The win also solidified their hold on third place as the 3 teams immediately behind them Kent, WMU and Ball State all lost. Zips are now 1.5 game ahead.

Four of the final five at home for the Zips.  Biggest is on 3/2 vs #2 and frankly disappointing (and very beatable) Buffalo Bulls.  That's also a matchup between Jordyn and Dyaisha Fair two of the three top candidates for MAC POY, who are both scoring in the 20s or 30s every game.  Cece's getting the pub with her scoring record, but coach Bolden's team is another disappointing club -- with NO bench.

They appear to have an amazing attitude on the team.  I was impressed that while Jordyn was sitting with 2 and then 3 fouls, they held on to the lead.  Once Jordyn came back in, Martindale made the big 3 then Jordyn and Annika threw up on the FT line.  But  Reagan and Lane Farrell made their FTs to close it out.

Zips are back in action already! They face the always dangerous Ohio Bobcats, coached by Bob Bolden, a gem of a guy and a great coach. The Zips are in prime position for the 3 seed, but must keep winning. Go Zips!

A great game. Never count OU out, they’re tough, experienced, and have weapons all over the floor. I though the Zips were very tough once again, they just made a lot of bad mistakes late. The biggest of which was the timeout called right after a 3-pointer by Martindale with a little over three minutes left that gave the Zips a 64-59 lead. I’m no coaching expert, but that one needs some explanation. Ohio had just taken their biggest lead of the game and UA was on fire with still a lot of time to play. I’m pretty upset about that one. But at least the Zips have a little cushion on the 3 seed. Still need to win a couple more though.

Did Melissa Jackson call that timeout?!  I thought OU called the timeout to stop Akron's momentum.  Good grief.

Just watched the replay. It was indeed Akron that called it, Reghi said Ohio but the official pointed to Akron’s bench. Just a brutal decision.
