The expanded CFP is not going as expected and NFL ratings are down also. I don't know if there is a correlation or causation between expanded college football playoff and decline in NFL viewers. If there is, the NFL will need to do everything it can to destroy the now minor league college football playoff. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/43525435/cfp-title-game-most-watched-season-viewership-down OSU kind of left Notre Dame in the dust fairly early. They clawed back in midway through the 4th qtr, but by that point many had already turned the game off and went to bed. Had it remained close for the 1st 3 quarter, it likely would have been much closer to last year's numbers. Edit: Speaking of football as a whole, viewership had been trending down. Then sports betting came a long and that created some renewed interest as it gave degens interest in games that they might not otherwise care about. Perhaps a pull back from sports betting interest is what we're witnessing now. I don't know if that's the case or not. My speculation is purely anecdotal as I've personally lost interest in betting regularly like I was before and the same appears to be true for my group of friends as well. Football as a whole is a crap product right now. It's oversaturated with way too many penalties and relatively predictable outcomes. It will never cease to amaze me how suits with 6-7 figure paychecks ruin everything they touch through greedy desires.

Imagine a scenario where a player chooses to stay in school because it is more lucrative than the NFL. That's where this is headed.

Imagine a scenario where a player chooses to stay in school because it is more lucrative than the NFL. That's where this is headed. NIL exists in the NFL. It's just called endorsements. Any star player will make far more in the NFL than they would in college when you factor in both their NFL salaries and endorsements. The players who can make more in college are the guys who are terrific collegiate players, but are practice squad talent at the NFL level. A guy who jumps out to me is Amando Bacot (I know he's basketball) who was making more at UNC than he is now making in the G-League. I think that post was more a knock at Brandon Marshall and his poor money management. Jeremiah Smith has only made a few million at the collegiate level. Obviously that's a healthy sum, but Brandon Marshall should be worth 10s, if not 100+ million, had he not recklessly spent his career earnings.
