They very much must have had some benefactor that REALLY wanted in FBS.  Still strange, though.

You're talking about the state capital for the 5th largest economy in the world. Between politicians, lobbyists, and others in area trying to buy influence there is probably retarded amounts of money floating around the area.

Not to mention outside the Sacramento Kings there is very little local sports competition.

Yeah, it's got to be something in that realm.

The only thing for the MAC here...this can't be it.  You got a little lifeline, see what we can get from it.

I actually see no reason why we wouldn't take this deal

What a laughable good deal in favor of MAC schools. Anyone else out there this desperate to get to the FBS level? The MAC is open for business!

Wouldn't even need to be THAT desperate.  But yes, the MAC should be talking to anyone and everyone that might be interested right now.

I was against this deal, but it is clearly set up as a stop gap for Sac State while they find a better fit. To be honest, I've changed my mind. I'd take the deal. Nonetheless the underlying issues for the MAC remain: leadership, identity, quality. Until we get football to the Toledo level this is the best fit for Akron.

The money should go directly to the football revenue sharing pot.

I don't think there is separate pots. I think the conference just pays out a lump sum to each school. I think last year it was around $2.5 million for Akron.

What does any of this have to do with bringing a shitty program into the MAC?

What if there is nobody backing this and Sac State is bankrupting themselves? Remember, it's more likely they are bankrupting themselves than a pile of money backing them.

I believe Akron has separate buckets for revenue sharing among sports.

Yes, working to grow the league is pathetic thinking.  100%

The MAC doesn't have to act in every dumb idea that comes to mind.
