GP1
Miami wins their bowl game against a well known G5 team. Again, I think losing bowl games doesn't hurt a program, but winning can be used to gain traction in recruiting. The MAC is representing itself well this bowl season.

They pretty much curb-stomped Colorado St. which is now a PAC-12 school (!?) I think we have to start saying G6.

GP1
The CFP continues. The buzz is amazing. I mean, I can't wait to see how bad Notre Dame blows out Georgia with a back-uo QB. That's the only interest I have. PSU is going to kill BSU. Texas will dismantle ASU. OSU vs Oregon will somehow turn into a blowout, I'm just not sure which way and I don't care because they already played this year. Are there any other sports on TV New Year's Day? To their credit Boise had a solid vision and made successive excellent hires as head coaches and AD's. IIRC Boise began as a junior college. Leadership and talented people are the two most important components of achieving and sustaining excellence. We need to remember that in making future hires.

MDZip
For more positive news should Notre Dame win the National Championship our claim to the mythical National Championship is remarkably short. Akron > Toledo > Northern Illinois > Notre Dame. If Texas wins we just have to add in Georgia and Texas. 😊 2

NeoZip
New interview with Bud Wentz talking about the new basketball training facility. This episode talks mostly about basketball. He does say the in the collective they have sub accounts for soccer and football along with basketball. Joe has been saying they have not had any NIL money and I wonder if there has been a delay… 1

That would have been after the 2024 recruiting cycle. The question is what will be on hand for 2025.
LZIp
Reports are that NIU is set to join the MWC as a football only member. Would be nice if current members could benefit from the exit fee, but I’m sure it’s a joke (if it exists at all).

ZippyRulz
Near-term reshufflings notwithstanding, it would seem likely that UMass would replace NIU on our 2026 schedule. https://fbschedules.com/2026-akron-football-schedule/ Edited January 5 by ZippyRulz

ClevelandZip
Excellent. Now the MAC commish can negotiate an even worse media deal for us. Rivalry games on Mondays so we get “brand exposure” but no money. Maybe he’ll also want to replace them with Northern West Virginia University- Southeast Campus. 1
