Wouldn't Eastern be 8th?  They are in a 3 way tie with Central and Ohio and have beaten both.

Tuned into Ohio vs. Miami. Combined 4-14 in the league. Lots of close losses between the teams.

Announcers did a recap of last night's MAC games, and were gushing over Emoni's performance. They then mentioned that Can't never led the entire time, and got as close as 4 in the 2nd half, but literally never mentioned Akron except for "in the Rubber City."

Puke.

that's fine.  who picks the MAC POY?  coaches or media?  If it's media, being the cynic that I am, I could imagine som $$ and pressure floating around for a Bates pick.

Really happy BG hired and extended Huger.  NIU schooling them at the Stroh Center.  NIU had 52 points with 16 minutes left.  PCCC had a grand total of 55 for the game.  BG making a comeback which falls flat.

MAC POY is as much a team award as it is a player one. Whoever wins it is pretty much always on one of the top 3 teams. It would be news to me if a player on a team with a losing record won it.

Here’s the list of All-Time MAC POY winners:

I suppose Bates could get it if they start winning, but they’ll have to do a lot of winning and he’ll have to put up even better numbers. I remember the “controversy” of Big Dog getting it in 2017 over Marcus Keene from CMU, who was the leading scorer in the country.

Tomorrow night:  really surprised that Ohio is a -3 favorite over NIU at the DeKalb Triangle.  And Buffalo, -8.5 over EMU.  Although, I'm happy to see EMU keep losing so they are sitting home come March.

We're a 14 seed in Lunardi's most recent bracket, against Shaka Smart's Marquette team in... Columbus. That would be juicy. Not that anything will stay the same over the next 5-6 weeks.

We dare not speak of this.    Bad luck.

Fox has us as a 13 seed facing Kansas State.

Lunardi is an overpaid moron with a historically poor track record. He's the Mel Kiper of college basketball.

Bringing bad karma with these posts.

It's really pointless to have a discussion about seed without knowing the field. Using the Summit League as an example, if Oral Roberts wins their conferences bid, they most certainly deserve to be seeded ahead of Akron. All the other teams in that conference stink so Akron would be seeded ahead of any other of those teams.

A lot of things we talk about on a college sports message board are pointless

While this is way looking ahead this is applicable to all the MAC. MAC is generally assigned between an 11 and 14 seed (on occasion higher or lower but that's generally where they fall). Host cities for those seeds this year include Columbus, Greensboro, Albany, Denver, Orlando and Des Moines. Not to terrible to get to any one of them for MAC schools. Come on Zips, no west coast trips for the NCAAs this year. Let's do this. 👊
