He didn't block anyone. Not sure what rule that is in the book, but it's inexcusable.

Sad to hear about Irons. @LZIp nailed it. Polarizing play but always gave it his all.

Give me Bullock ROS.

Did anyone think we were going to win when it was a close game in the 4th quarter?  My thought was how were we going to lose, fumble, interception or missed field goal?

- the late hit/personal foul on 3rd and long was a killer

😩😩

I was busy chasing my two girls around the game, and didn't get a chance to post about this. That was a BS penalty. The QB had slipped and tried to keep his body up. He was down but nearly impossible to see as a player in the moment. It was pretty bang bang, too.

Sadly, my thoughts were the same.  As I was expecting a terrible shank, I neglected to think of the blocked kick.

I tuned out when DJ fumbled. That's because I crapped my pants and had to go clean up.

I brought this up a few years back. OK a LOT of years back. Anyway I played football for Chippewa (Doylestown, Ohio) and we didn’t know what division we played in. It’s Division VI btw. Nobody cared that we never played Canton McKinley or Massillon. Our coaches didn’t, our fans didn’t, our families didn’t. It was good competitive football.

Same with Akron Zips, football was a lot more fun before we went FBS. IDK if the U thought football would bring in more money. Or if they thought a competitive FCS team could win games and conferences and bowl games. Or maybe they were looking at the TV money and thought “We can get that too.” Whatever it was, they just about destroyed the sport. It has to be a PR hit for the whole university.

Jump in and tell me if I’m wrong, but I believe it’s a lot more fun being Mount Union in a division they belong than it is for us in FBS.

College football is in the process of realignment into new divisions but most fans don't see it. We need stay where we are. Ideally we could make changes with the rest of the MAC and G5 conferences, but the people who run those conferences are too stupid to see what's happening to their employers.

Shouldn't an offensive genius have an advantage in the recruiting process with QBs and be able to bring in even an even average MAC QB?

KSUcks brought in a transfer QB from Purdue.

I know, I know.  We brought in Taj Bullock from Va.Tech... but judging by how our staff utilizes Taj it doesn't appear he's at all capable of throwing the ball (at least not accurately).

I didn't know this. It's alarming. VA Tech is a horrible, losing program and he couldn't play there?

Let's bring in a QB from a winning program.

The staff has brought in 4 scholarship QBs since they've been here - 2 transfers and 2 high school recruits, yet Irons (Arth recruit) was still their best option in their eyes. Just pointing out facts there.

If its up to me, I'm giving Undercuffler a game. He keeps starting as long as we have a reasonable bowl shot. He loses, we move on to exploring options for the future to see who we have to work with. 3 candidates worth getting some game action in Bullock, Jennings, and Wasel. Though Wasel's got some tools, his mechanics need a lot of work and that showed in spring game as well. Maybe not through him into the fire yet unless he's made significant strides.

He may have been upset that DJ’s career is over.  I’m not sure how close they are but they spend a lot of time together.  Otherwise, we have another potential issue at QB.

It also might have just hit him that he’s third string at best on this $h!t show.

Or the coaches can't utilize him properly.

As we all know here at Akron, coaches are clearly not infallible. They make LOTS of mistakes. We are witnessing just that this season...again.

How ironic that they 'honored' Jim Dennison, the coach that got screwed when they hired Faust. I think Dennison even got them into the 1-AA playoffs 1 year after they statrted to move to D-1. No, they had to have a high school dropout who couldn't even win at ole' ND. The program has never been the same.

Yes we do im not sure of the football you guys are use to watch but im from Miami and im use to WR making plays after they catch the ball and i don't see it at all in these WR's im sorry!

I see plays called with many passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. I see receivers who catch the ball with backs turned to the field. Play calling!

I don't think it would hurt the MAC at all if the whole league went to FCS.

This is where I'm at, plus a little more.

We have Irons, Undercuffler, Bullock, Jennings, and Wasel on the staff. Irons isn't moving the offense. Fine. Undercuffler isn't moving the offense. Fine. Why not run with Bullock/Jennings/Wasel?

Joe likes Irons (may be his demise). Fine. How can we make Irons more effective? An offensive genius has to be able to scheme guys open and fit the play calling to his personnel. Irons has a big arm, so why not take a few more deep shots, especially with post patterns? On shorter throws, why not more over the middle throws with shorter quicker crossing routes? Irons can run, but defenses know that. Why not get the RBs going in space outside of the tackles to help open the game up? Do we have speed on this roster? Where is it and why aren't we using it?

Can't attract talent now? Fine. But what's going to change if this is what we are getting with the "offensive genius"? This offense is a 100 year old machine that has sat out in the elements and never been maintained. Everything is grinding and difficult to move; nothing is smooth. With the transfer portal opening up college athletics, the talent we have may not even stay. Might as well figure out what we have and try to benefit from it while we have it.

If Joe doesn't like certain things as a Head Coach, he needs to find someone to handle those things properly or not be a Head Coach in the first place. This is complete garbage and inexcusable.

Does anyone actually know why Cristobal didn't take Moorehead to Miami? I don't want speculation.

To clarify, Joe is a football genius and is sought after for a reason. But there have been snippets where he’s even talked about how a lot of the roles of a head coach aren’t fun to him. Like I said last week, it’s almost like his time at Mississippi State. Just fine, but lacking a direction.

Why is he not at Miami with Cristobal????? J.D. was the brains here.

Good luck getting any of the non-ZNO, casual football fans to come back this season.  Games like this kill any chance of generating a fan base or getting a walk up crowd.  The stands are going to get emptier and quieter as we move forward.

On to soccer, hoops and 80 proof or better beverages.  Talk to you all in a week or so.
